William Brand
I prefer a rich, dark cocoa. I despise tea. I make faces when I drink it.

Dorian Lasseter
In the Muzzleloading Forum there was a thread about making camp coffee.... someone posted about putting an egg (broken ?) in the pot with the water and coffee grounds...... Don't think I wanna try that one......... Hey Patrick, I believe the reason for the egg, unbroken I believe... The eggshell will absorb some of the acid from the coffee... Mmm... Patrick Hand
I believe the reason for the egg, unbroken I believe...The eggshell will absorb some of the acid from the coffee... From what I've heard, using a chared stick is soppose to "clarify" the coffee..... but I haven't tried that either.... About the egg.... I don't know how much of it was a joke.... egg shells sound kinda right.... a whole egg...... just sounds wrong......
Rumba Rue
I've certainly never heard of the egg bit before....hmmm you might get a soft boiled egg out it, covered in coffee grounds...I'm sure some country probably would eat them thinking it's some kind of aphrodisiac. Quartermaster James
oof da! Liberated this from Chowhound: GENERAL TOPICS: That Bizarre Norwegian Egg Coffee The traditional Norwegian method for making coffee includes an egg. The traditional Norwegian method for making coffee includes an egg. Simply break up a single egg and mix it with half a cup of water in a warmed saucepan. Add one cup of medium-grind coffee, and six cups of boiling water, and boil slowly for exactly three minutes, covered. Then add another half a cup of cold water, and let it steep for ten minutes, then serve. What you get is slightly rich, mysteriously clear coffee. Why? Not only does the egg add a little richness, but the egg proteins bind with and settle the grounds. This happens when you add that last half a cup of cold water. Some people use the whole egg broken up–that includes the shell. Some use the egg without the shell, others use only the egg whites. In all cases, the result is the same–mysteriously rich, and miraculously clear coffee.
Sheila
I love coffee! I must have it every morning. I am a junkie I think. I do enjoy tea as well but that is more a relaxing thing for me. Lady Alyx
Oh gawd just reading that norweigen twist made my stomach do flip flops...oiiii! I love eggs and I love coffee but both? Yipes.... but in a cold environment like there I am sure you need every bit of protein you can sneak in. The only thing I add an egg to like that would be my own version of Orange Julius or some kind of fruit shake. Anybody here drink Nescafe from Mexico? ~~~~Sailing Westward Bound~~~~ Lady Alyx

Captain J. Savage
Tea to warm up, coffee to wake up. I usually only drink coffee when on active duty, gettin up at 4:30am. I also only smoke when on active duty, as smoking yeilds a break and a chance to get fresh air outside.(although smoking kinda contradicts that)

Captain J. Savage
If it's as simple as you're trying to avoid sugar, use honey. I'm not sure which teas are good for their actual flavor though.

SilasTalbot
Um...nope , that I'm not ~like sugar (just a touch in me chinese tea..) Hey Silas is back! How goes the career sir? Why, thank you for asking, dear. The answer would be BUSY. In addition to the usual borderline criminal behavior...I decided to get involved in a local Rev War event commemorating Patriot's Day (Which is only a holiday in Boston. I'm totally serious). I figured if I volunteered I could make some good connections, and get more training in black powder weapons. Long story short...I would up as the de-facto "director" of the event. Which is fine, they're a great group of people and I'm having fun. But I have no life. Which is why I don't show up here nearly as often as I'd like. We now return you to the original thread, as I crawl downstairs for more coffee.
