  1. Wow!! That's fantastic... looks like I'll be droppin' a few pices o' eight after th' holidays for a trip to the Carolina coast!

In Naperville, IL, there is a restaurant called th Key Wester, filled with pirate memorabilia, like the Queen Anne's Revenge... it is more of a celebration of the Caribbean as a whole, with quite a few pirate relics displayed. I'll see if I can find a website, and I'll post it.

  2. I don't have a picture of one, but the US Marine Corps officers carry a cool sword which was presented to them in the early 1800s after they stormed the hideout of the Barbary Pirates in the Mediteranean Sea... there's a good modern link with the past for you!

  3. Avast, me 'earties!

Where can I find a good working black powder pistola similar to Cap'n Jack Sparrow's, and what kind of sword does he have? (*grumble grumble* I better get the DVD fer Christmas...) thanks to ye all, and once again I be apologizin' if these queries 'ave been asked b'fer! :D

  4. Good thinking there, Charlotte! That actually makes really good sense! Whether Bootstrap is special, or all the crew's blood was needed, here's to a damned good movie, and cheers to the thoughts of another! :D

  5. I be thinkin the same thing.... I keep havin' images in me 'ead of ol' Bootstrap's bones strugglin' to free 'imself of 'is chains ev'ry time the moon is full! Sends chills down me spine jus' thinkin' about it!

  6. AAAAARRRGGGHHH! Apologies if this has been asked b'fore, but why the blood o' ol' Bootstrap? Was it ever explaned in the film why it had to be Bootstrap's blood that released the curse? I be assumin' its b'cuz his mates murdered him, or mebbe cuz Bootstrap was the purest of heart (fer a pyrate) cuz he objected to the mutiny against ol' Cap'n Jack... mebbe I be soaked in too much rum, but I not be findin' a definate answer in the movie... any help from ye swabs?

  7. Just a little background to help any and all who care... those guys in red were definately Royal Marines (Norrington refers to them as such in the scene where they are rescuing Cap'n Jack from the gallows), and Marines then and now are tasked with security aboard ships and manning the guns and acting as infantry at forward naval installations. I am a US Marine (our traditions and even our famous dress blues [there's some nautical clothes the ladies appreciate!] are based on those of the Royal Marines), and the Marines would have been commanded by their own Captain (a rank equivilant to a naval Lieutenant), who would receive orders ONLY from his ship's Captain... but obviously the whole chain of command thing would have been a little tedious on screen... but anyway, there you have it!

Semper Fidelis, Fair Winds, and Following Seas!

  8. Would you have his contact info, or a website where he may have pictures posted? How are the tankards, color, size, capacity, etc? This is great! I've been looking for a while for something similar to what Jack Sparrow is using in the Tortuga scenes, or what the Hobbits use in the Lord of the Rings movies. Thanks!! :D
