  1. Kyllyr, It's just as well. I'm sure while you were admiring my weapon, I was admiring your black and red bodice. My best to you and Gregory. BB
  2. Well, obviously, I didn't know who you were either ! It was grand to almost meet you both.
  3. Oh, me email is njordbloodaxe@verizon.net
  4. Mates, I finally worked out me pryce list, and if you would be so kind as to email me, but not through the pub (I can figure out regular email, but have never been able to attach anything here), I shall be happy to send you same, plus a photo or two. Thanks for your indulgence. BB Postscript; I should have a website up and running soon, if I can get my son to do it for me.
  5. I wasn't really offended. You could have captioned it "total looser" or something. Sorry about the h in Rumba. Probably thinking of a dance lesson I had once or something. Mr. Tarr, you can call me anything you'd like. Billy, Capt. Bones, Mr. Bones, William, Ed, whatever I was dismayed that I missed Claire and the Seven Seas bunch, or at least I didn't realize who they were. Being that I haven't gone to these soirees much, I'm surprised I knew anybody. I was pretty lost on Saturday, but thankfully, I knew Petee, Iron Bess, Cascabel, and Ace (at least by sight). Sunday was a much more satisfying day for me personally, and it was a pleasure to meet you all.
  6. Rhumba, I take offense at your picture of me! First, you evidently didn't recognize me, and secondly, you wrote the caption "What an interesting fellow". I'm certainly not interesting in the least! I'm terribly sorry I couldn't get to the PUB picture in time. Drove from Oregon that morning and was turned away by the fire dept. on 150. Had to go around the other way, and didn't get there 'til 1! Oh well, I got to meet some old friends and new ones.
  7. I bought a subscription on ebay a couple of months ago. I trust it was for naught.
  8. Sorry mates. Just got back from the Ojai Pirate Festival after driving for 14 hours. A bit done in, but I'll try to address your messages post haste. Patience! BB
  9. I feel a little sheepish putting an ad on here, but here goes. While working as the armorer on POTC 2&3, I was asked to make 12 pirate flags to be featured in the 3rd movie. These were extemely large flags for the most part, being 25' on the fly, and of course, double sided. Since then, I've been asked to make more for the film, and I thought, now wait a minute --- even though these were a pain in the ____ for my wife and I to make (I had to come up with them during a Christmas break from Pirates), why not make them for you mates (for a price). Of course, I don't see alot of call for flags as large as the film required, although we're willing to make them, but the cost is pretty high for such a thing. We're willing to make your own designs or make the standard well known designs. I put my own spin on some of the designs, using early descriptions, rather than relying on the usual sources. I probably won't hand sew these for various reasons, and frankly, I believe many of the originals were painted as well, depending on the design. I will say that, these flags will be good and servicable, and of pleasing composition. I'm still working on a price list, mainly because there are so many factors involved, such as materials, intricacy of design, size, painted or sewn, etc. I think you would be pleased with the result though. I have flags on permanent display in the Black History wing of the Smithsonian, and have made the flags for Last of the Mohicans, Glory, Gettysburg, and about 20 other historical films. Anyway, it's a thought, and I wanted to throw this out there to see if there was much interest. We are in earnest about this, and I'll be at Ojai this weekend wandering around if you happen to be there ---- I'd love your input. BB
  10. Since I'll be driving down from Oregon, and have not attended before, is there anything I should know? I'm thinking about weaponry policies and whether I can sleep there Saturday night mainly. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks, BB
  11. Why must they add Maynard's sweetheart into the mix?
  12. I just noticed that the first Portland Pirate Festival has one fatal flaw. I would love to support a local pirate get-together, but it's the same weekend as the largest pirate festival on the west coast! Is it too late to change? I know it is, but it's too bad. I'm sure you'd get a lot more support if it was a vweekend earlier or later. BB
  13. Kass, I'd like to officially order one of your frock coats. Let me know what you need! Thanks! BB Oh, how about a waistcoat as pictured?
  14. Mr. Hand, I concurr with you assessment. You can't beat the book. Of course, I should know. Billy Bones
  15. The Exumas are your best bet, and you may recognize a location or two from POTC. Don't go to Grand Bahama Island!! Not a terribly attractive Island, and it's seen better days. The displays at the Pirate Museum are worth seeing. They have a website---- Pirates of Nassau. BB
  16. I'll be there, barring any unforeseen circumstance. BB
  17. Look, I've gotten through the first fews pages of all this, and all I know, is that I'm happy that the Pirate genre is back, with some exciting and well-directed results. When I think back to the days when Cutthroat Island and Muppets Treasure Island were all, movie-wise, we had (not withstanding the classics), as opposed to the excitement about pirates, along with the scholarly volumes about piracy generated by that excitement, that these movies have brought, I don't give a rat's arse if Barbossa's really dead or he's taken up ballet. This is the greatest thing to happen to the study of old-time piracy that could ever have happened. Look at all these entries discussing pirates! Hell, look at all the pirate web-sites! Look at you mates who didn't know anything about pirates until we met Sparrow for the first time. A nice shot in the arm. BB
  18. About 2 months before Pirateology came out, my son gave me a book called Pirates by John Matthews, Atheneum Books. It's quite a bit like Pirateology, but in my opinion, much better! It doesn't have the little story about the female pirate. It's just about pirates. and has much better and more fun pull-outs, etc. Anyway, give it a shot if you're curious. The cover has a Jolly Roger with an eye patch, a jewel for his other eye, and a gold tooth. BB
  19. I think I may be able to help you. I have photos from all angles, but can't post them on this sight. E-mail? The pistol is the same in both films. Although the dealer says 1760's, having worked with the pistol off and on everyday, it seemed slightly older. Of course, being a reputable dealer, he would know more of the history than I, and I haven't had a chance to research Perry, and whether he built the pistol in it's entirety, or just the lock. BB
  20. Don't worry about Davy Jones' backstory. You'll get it in 3.
  21. I bought Gurkees in the Bahamas, and used them almost exclusively on shipboard. Once they got saltwater in them, they got horrendously stinky, but I threw them in the machine, and the smell washed out completely. Comfy until the heel wears away.
  22. I have seen hand cannons of similar design. This is, of course, "home made". I'm sure it was fired with a fuse.
  23. 'Tis quite true, Miss Bess
