  3. Cowboy: Pistol Pirate: Pistol Rapier/Sabre Workin Knife Do the Math. Oh yes: Cowboy: A horse Pirate: A fleet of boats, and a hearty crew
  4. arrr... that be a paradox, ye foolish land lubber!! What reference have we to period? A concrete truck driver in the golden age of piracy ain't be havin' no access to a concrete truck, and surely the rogue would run through the unfortunate earths-man. But, be the rogue in the modern age, he may well find his rapier deficient in the face of twenty tons of rig. Inevitably, the swashbuckler would be dressed about a thousand times better, handle his booze more aptly, and say things like "Arrr... the wenches be fine here in the caribbean, but I must to the ship fer the last of me grog", rather than "Hey Steve, back up about fifteen inches... no... yep... no... that's the ticket... bang on! Open 'er up! Hey, what do you have for lunch today?" Arrr di har har
  5. What a boon!!! You can expect to hear some of these incorporated into my music sometime (hopefully) when I get my website up(hopefully)
  6. ATTN: Webmaster RE: This subject Please delete this thread, started by me. It is both embarrassing and revealing, and I regret posting it. How bummed out am I? What a sucker! Oh well... at least I have an imaginary pirate republic. I'll have to get back to you on the real one
  7. Really?! See! I knew I was onto somethin' with this dream fandango! Man.. It's so late... I board at 10 a.m.... Pillaging from 2-6. That's if we even make the coast of Bermuda by lunch-time... I hope to dream of a fine ship, a loyal crew and a rugged wench.. And a nice shot of rum/gunpowder.
  8. Upon swearing meself to a life of Piracy some years ago, I dubbed meself 'Dickos Fortuna', basically with the Dickos as a shortening for Richard, and the Fortuna sounded nice. Last year I searched the word 'Fortuna' on Google, and discovered this: "The Pirate Republic 1680 marked a second radical change of course in the history of the Islas Fortuna y Aflicción. In that year, a pirate fleet lead by Captain Davidson sacked the Fortaleza Bella Vista and converted the island into a base port for incursions and swashbuckling across the Caribbean. Fortuna has remained a pirate republic ever since. While nominally a part of the Commonwealth, it is now self-governing." I was amazed!! I don't know if any of you sail the seas of spirituality, but they be me realm, and this blew me away! Has anyone been to Isla Fortuna?! Or have any historical knowledge of it's capture and control as a Pirate hub?
  9. Same goes, I would love to... but I'm in Australia at the moment, so I'd have to plan it a long way in advance
  10. I want to audition fer a role too... Hey Iron Bess.. Are you seriously werkin fer em? I'm a kiwi actor specialising in classical acting, I can do a pirate to a tee! I'm trained and have a curly moustache in readiness fer any potential role in a pirate film! If you have any idea who I would contact in the Biz to promote meself, please let me know. I'm stuck in Melbourne representing myself... so I need these fortuitous links! I MUST BE ON THE BLACK PEARL!
  11. Cap'n Lasseter: I would be hella keen! Request any info y'need to assess me with, and I'll be more than obligin!
  12. Whoa... The royaliste is sooooooooooooooo cool! I would seriously love to work out a time where I can come aboard and learn the ropes too! Perhaps we could arrange to meet in Port Royal! A real...(pant pant pant) pirate... (pant pant pant) ship... (pant pant pant)
  13. I'm shocked somebody in Wellington didn't already know about it. FYI(& theirs) it started as part of the Cuba St Carnival, which is actually run by Whopper CHopper cru.
  14. Arrrr yeaah! I haven't much in the way of pictures, but in other realms... I write music (mostly starting out as vaguely psychedelic dubby hip-hop), I'm not sure if it'd be up any of yer alleys, but the theme to all my music/life is the undertaking of a pirate's life I go under the guise of "kazaamBLAM!" I don't have a website up yet, but on monday night I am designing one with a friend, and hopefully in the next week or two you'll be able to plunder some of me tracks for free. If in the meantime ye want to try one on fer size, try and hook up with me in MSN messenger. I'm only too keen to hook y'all up with the new pirate sounds! A pirate friend and I hooked up last year and recorded an album with some manky lo-fi pirate numbers on it: "X marks the treasure To get to.. Without a scale to measure You get blue.. Don't need a compass to navigate this trip scout! Look down treasure found, First mate dig it out, dig it out!" Arr! What a piratical chorus!
  15. Man.... I got a copy of 'Port Royale'. And it won't work. After the kick ass intro (although I was more than a little disappointed to learn that the pirates are the BAD GUYS!) it went to a frozen windows with a black background. At the Ascaron Website, it recommeended getting the latest drivers for my graphics card (nVidia TNT2), which I have just finished downloading, I hope. Man I hope it works. That was almost half my weekly wage. I should have stolen it. yeah take that, stinkin' mall... open up down the street from me will you?! Anyway, with the pirates being bad-guys and all, Tortuga looks like it night be a cooler game in the long-run. The goal being to be the meanest pirate in the sopanish main!
  16. wowee!! What a bunch of replies! Hey, Dorian Lasseter, if you can really interpret dreams, I'd be really keen to find out what you make of my tripped out madness described at the beginning of this discussion! Hey, how many of you guys are actually sailing on pirate ships? Or any old beautiful wooden sailing ships? Because I would drop everything and come and sail with you ayt the drop of a hat if you ever needed a rugged young kiwi deck swabber! I need the training for when I get my own ship!
  17. arrr.... but there be a glimmer of hope yet! It runs till late February! So if ye be game fer a tight schedule, it still be a possibility, maybe? Say, El Pirata, are you having yer own vessel?! Do you actually sail a real, wooden, ship?!
  18. Totally and utterly a dream!! I just thought some other rogues might have had some pirate related dreams... But as for the pirate colony idea, that WILL BE a reality. I'm going back to NZ for summer to kayak aroiund the Marlborough Sounds in search of the land (& go to some Whopper Choppers!! ) And the shimmering silver under the water in the dream relates to a very true and trippy story of another summer in NZ
  19. Nuts.. I must be such a newbie. Err... It's touring the whole of the North Island this year, and a fair bit of the south too... Starting in November.. Here's a link to the tour page. It's such a cool event. They have all the family events, three legged races, tug-o-war etc, and then theres phat reggae and dreadlocks and beer and barbeques and stuff too! http://www.whopperchopper.org.nz/tour.htm then click on the button just below the skull and crossbones, entitled "view tour schedule" They're showing free films at night, with jazz and stuff too. But if your swash is truly to be buckled, it's the fine dub and reggae that'll billow yer sails!
  20. cheers! I be new to these waters, but well steeped in the antics of the seven-seas. I think I amnaged to post it in Raids, but it would still be wise to check the Whopper Chopper website for the dates (I'm not some representative of them, just a home-sick seadog who has enjoyed the fine sunny whopper-choppers of past years. It rules! See you there! (I think I even accidentally posted it twice now in Raids)
  21. Arrr... I had me a few nautical dreams in me time, and I was wondering if ye had some too... Fer starters, and probably the root of the fixation: My friends and I have long aimed at putting our meagre funds towards buying a chunk of the New Zealand coastline, building a galleon and living the lives of the SeaDogs... Ooooooooh yeah, never far from my mind. And this must have been the cause of my dream: I dreamt that I was on a jetty, stratching out from a swamp into a clear sea. The jetty was connected to some kind of small building. There was a little kid hanging around, and he was asking me if I was a pirate. "Indeed , I be." rang the appropriate response, and then I saw something glimmering at the bottom of the water, which has some more relevance to me( If anyone reads this and queries aboiut it, I will reveal the extrremely mystical secret). So I dove into the water and swam to the bottom, and fossicked around for the plunder. Eventually I grabbed it, and swam with it to the surface. As soon as I got to the surface I become consumed with a terror of sharks, and swam as fast as I could to a ladderback up to the jetty, and wasted no time climbing it. When I reached the top, I looked at my booty, and discovered it was a silver plaque with a skull and crossbones depicted, and the crossed swords beneath it, I think like the flag of Bart Roberts(?). I proudly showed it to the kid, who was at first unimpressed, until I gave it to him, then he was most happy! Little ingrate. Pretty trioppy, huh. Wait till you hear the tripiest bit!
  22. OOOOOOH YEAH! I just discovered the existance of this new title online the other day, and set sail for me local e-tavern in search of the plunder. And there it was, in stock for it's first day in Australia! I just have to do a wee bit of plunderin before I'll be able to afford it. I've been waiting a decade for a worthy sequel to Sid Meier's "Pirates", and it would seem to have arrived! And fer a sea-dog who smokes Port Royal tobacco, it is perfectly titled!
  23. Dirty Dubbed out outdoor parties throughout New Zealand, at all the loveliest beaches Wicked! Get to the website! www.whopperchopper.org.nz
  24. Aaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! I fianlly made me first post! It's taken me a while, but I be only in port occassionally, so it ain't bein' easy fer me t' log on to Davy Jones' locker (If ye follow me drift). Well, there is an event taking place in New Zealand worthy of any pirates attention! A hearty band of scalliwags has been putting on the scurviest outdoor reggae and pirate festival for a few years now, in the ports of Wellington, New Zealand, at the peak of the kiwi summer (february), callin' themselves Whopper Chopper, they organise a hoard of great, free, outdoor festivals on the charming beaches of Wellington. And this year it is touring the whole country, with outdoor movies, a swag of great reggae and dub acts, games fer the whole barnacle ridden family and booty beyond your wildest dreams! So set yer course fer Wellington, park yer galleon, and soak up the rays! I hope you can all make it! This scurvy dog be stuck in Melbourne Australia at the present time, with me ship gettin' re-hulled, I can only hope to set sail in time meself! Check out their beautiful website! http://www.whopperchopper.org.nz/
