  2. If ye be still lookin, I will be doin some bronze castin' next week, could do a 2 3/4 inch squared centerbar buckle in yellow bronze for about $40.00 . I'm not cheap I know, but do ye really want cheap? -Captn Thorpe
  3. AYYYYYY whatelse?, well there's skullball, but thats about 900 years too early, and severed heads are a bit heavy to kick without hurtin yer foot (and if ya gots a peg it tends to get stuck in the hole the eyball came out a anyways) and too many opportunities fer davey Jones to claim the head and spoil yer fun! I'm outa tawny port, but there's a nice local white port, not quite as oaky and then ther'es Pussers Navy Rum!
  4. I'm new here , been doing SCA as an Elizabethan privateer for 25 years, cause the Golden Age is post SCA period lookin fer some pirate fun! Some folks have mentioned being a fan of certain movies, for me it's The Black Swan, Captain Blood, The Sea Hawk, and while some may take offense at this, Cutthroat Island (Good fun in the classic style) The Disney trio was fun (when the first one came out the SCA group I was in at the time talked the local theater into bringing us in for live fencing demos in the lobby and theatrical fencing at the beginning of each show on opening night) After all it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye, THEN IT's a GAME OF CHASE THE EYEBALL! Yarrrrr! In real life I make jewelry and knives, and used to be a commercial photographer and musician.
  5. I currently make SCA fencing weapons (hilts with hanwei or other manufacturer blades in them) I'm kinda new to the pirate culture thing (looks like it can be a whole lot more fun than the SCA) and I am a CAS/Hanwei full partner dealer. For making a sparring weapon I would be happy to disassemble something like the Practical Motuary sword and re-hilt it in a period appropriate cutlass for use as a sparring weapon (while I have been a knife smith for 24 years, I would hesitiate to do actual contact sparring with a blade of my own manufacture just because of the liability issues that could arise were the blade to break or not absorb enough force) I work in carbon steel, carbon damascus, wrought iron, (I have started smelting my own), bronze, sterling silver and gold. I am probably not your cheapest alternative for handmade work, but for inexpensive I do carry the Hanwei, and I'm not afraid to customize around their sparring blades by taking a sword apart and completely re-doing everything except the blade. After my next couple SCA shows I will probably customize the Hanwei Practical Mortuary sword I picked up for myself into a cutlass circa Blackbeard . I'll put up pics when I'm done -CapnThorpe
