  1. Ok, can someone please tell me what I need to do to make the photo show in the post, rather than the link to it? Billie & I thought we had formatted it right on photobucket last night so it would show in this post, but between our 2 brains, apparently somethin's still missing! :D We thought this was the best picture we had on my camera of the Crewe. We're looking forward to seeing others! :D

  2. Funny you should mention darker hair & the red worth gown... THAT's the one that caught my eye!! I'm keepin' an eye on it on ebay!! And if you have 50+ more, I'm hoping there's more this size?! ;)

Yes, I have several that would fit you, BilliesDarlin. As for the Red Worth Gown, you and Skittles will have to fight over that one ;) I've let her wear it several times in the past and Andy has always thanked me for lending it to her.

Ahhhh, yes...I do recall seeing pics of Skittles in a red dress, now that you mention it! Well.... we do only live 6 blocks away from each other... perhaps we can work out a nice little arrangement!

  3. Well as a beader and jewelry designer for many years, nice work. A book I suggest to you read on period jewelry." A History of Jewellery 1100-1870 Joan Evans "

Dover Publications sells them directly. As well as many fine books on Pirates and Maritime, period costuming history. . I may not know much about period costuming, but period jewelry and gemstone history I do know.

I also go to different museums, library, then again I am the jewelry designer I see it i can re-create it.

    Good luck

Thanks so much for the reference...I've been wanting to find a resource like this! Just found this one on ebay & bought it! Gotta love "Buy It Now"!!

  4. Haha is that a hint.

Well, they say blondes look pretty in pink! As for Mea...with her darker hair...can't say that she wouldn't be noticed in the red worth gown!

  5. Aye!! And a GRAND day of it I had... being served me breakfast in bed by me snotties... followed by searchin' for treasures all day & dinner with me favorite pyrate!! And treasures we did find! Ahhhhh... Lady B... haulin' in drinks & cabana boys??!! We did have rain today, so a raincheck I'll take on that! Thank ye all, very much for the kind wishes!

  6. Oh.... I can just see it now... a pyrate cookin' show on the beach at PiP... "How t'make yer wine ~ or grenades...it's all the same t'us!" These stories are just too great... imagine the possibilities!

  7. Aye... I don't have much to add from what most of you has said, other than to say I'm in the same boat... Was let go from a local history museum as their marketing director as the Pres said "we're going in a new direction" which appears "down" since they've since let go of several others. Their finances are in bad shape, and they depend on historical reenactments in the summer for much of their bread 'n butter. If it weren't for facility reservations, I think they'd be sunk. I've been looking for work for over a year now, & focusing now on a new direction in education, but will most require some additional schooling. All I can really say is I too believe it is keeping a positive attitude for our futures-- believing that this is just a stepping stone...ok, could be a plateau of sorts-- but that there IS something better out there for each of us. Won't lose hope! And thank God for unemployment insurance!

  9. I have had great success buying 100% wool blankets at 2nd hand stores; salvation army, goodwill, etc.--& not more than $6 ever. Of course it's always hit 'n miss, but worth stopping every week to check! Hope ya don't mind my 2 cents worth...on my first post!
