  2. is that our own 'Nick' on the left, walking away from the camera?! way t'make us proud, maddogge! ;)

Well spotted!! Tis indeed our Nick and Finn be on the Dogge's other side. They had just finished firing and were retiring to the rear to reload. The tall chap in the black cocked hat dead center is Maddogge's newest recruit...Gnat... As usual the crewe did an excellent job both here in Beaufort and at Pike. My hat is off to ye all.

Splendid!! (i live for details, don'tcha know! ;) ) and not bad for gnat's premier--somethin' t'take home & make his parents proud, i'm sure! (gnat...what a great name, btw! do we want t'know how he came upon it?!)

  5. Is anybody else disturbed by how much Billie's smiling in the first picture??!

uuuuummmm, yes brig, i'm a "wee bit" (pun intended on "wee") disturbed by billie's smilin' as uuummm, i know personally what brings him to smile as such when he's been in me company... unfortunately, i arrived late on the scene & didn't witness what happened just prior to the picture being taken... no tellin' how long they'd all been on the blanket together... :o

  6. LOVED 'EM, Patrick!! I'm thinkin ye should be workin on a pyrate perpetual desk calendar. I laughed me *ss off readin 'em and couldn't wait till the next one! (if yer not already published) Course, i am drinkin a margarita as i speak this, but truly, i think yer onta somethin here!

  7. Animal, that sounds fantastic! Has a feast like anything of this sort been carried out at PiP? I cannot imagine much that would be more fitting! I, too, have been fortunate to partake in meal of slow-roasted pig... It was while living for a summer in the mountain range on Cebu island, Philippines. Even watched the locals slit the throat & drain him, etc. He was cooked w/fish & tropical fruits...a delicious & aromatic meal! What would be different this time is the mandatory imbibing!! Count me in!! I'd be happy to bring the ferns & palm leaves! :(

  8. You're most welcome! :( From what I can see, even tho I own a couple cast iron dutch ovens; one w/legs even, neither of mine has a lid that would hold coals on it very well--they're both somewhat sloped. Coals on top appear to be important for even & timely cooking. I have seen other dutch ovens that actually have a flat lid & probably a 1" rim around the edge to keep the coals on. Guess I'll be looking for either another oven, or extra lids as my ovens are 2 different sizes. Anyone have other suggestions for this?

  9. I just found a helpful cookbook on Amazon-- it's not vegetarian mind you, not period recipes-- but has some terrific "Helpful Hints" for seasoning, cleaning, & cooking w/a dutch oven. It's called 101 Things to Do with a Dutch Oven ... sounds interesting, eh?! <_< Some of the recipes sound great, & if you look inside the book, you can even read those helpful hints without buying the book. I think I'm still gonna get it tho!

  10. Thanks for the pics, our camera never came out all day. ;)

If it weren't for the kindness of others, we would never have pictures of anything.

    E O'K

Hope ye find a few ye fancy...ye certainly had a steady stream of apprentices! I trust ye heard from Haunting Lily that I'm in possession of yer "pot holder"?! (or some other way I may find to put it to good use--if only it were 2 pieces! ;) Let me know if ye'd be wantin' it to be postmarked to ye!

Not worry, I'll just pick it up from ya next time I see ya. Or I might just throw together the rest of the pair for ya.

    ;) ~ ;) .....well, it's safe, nonetheless!

  12. More good shots...thanks! You can leave the size for now Lady... I will let you know if we need them adjusted... thanks again

You're most welcome! I was very pleased with individual Crewe member action shots... I would be happy to email individual ones to the respective Crewe should they want to add to their portfolio! The only downfall of course, is bein behind the camera means you're not in front of the camera!

  13. Gwen please post photos when you can... thank you.

I will attempt my hand at posting pictures again tonight. Haven't had much luck in the past... remember the MAM attempt?!! LOL Go figure... I'm actually at work now, on lunch break...& look who I was thinkin' of!

Sorry Cap'n & Crewe for taking so long to post these! Here's the link... and as ye can see, I posted them all -- even those that look repetitive, to show ye what it takes to capture I really great shot! Hope ye like! There are some great action ones!

They look a wee bit small... perhaps I should have uploaded in a larger size?!! May have to do over...

  14. I was going to avoid this thread as there is little positive about it until I read Kate's post...then I saw red. Damnation but I am forced to agree... I DETEST drama unless tis in a skit/scenario... why can't people just do their jobs and get on with their lives without having to stir up all the trouble...if you don't get something JUST ASK.. without having to go behind everyone's back sheesh...

I agree... I hate drama too, for with it usually comes gossip. I think that if ya got somethin' to say, go directly to the person it concerns, not everyone but... It's just not helpful otherwise.

And the comment erisblackrose made about people complaining & responding with their wanting a little cheese with that whine..!! I use that line alot when I hear a whiner. Even when things go badly ~ given a little time, there's usually a silver lining to be found, if you're just willing to look for it...

  15. The Crewe of the Archangel - Family Sunday Event at the Milwaukee At Museum

Now THAT'S what I was tryin' to do!!! And that's the same picture too! Did we manage to hold that pose thru the camera changes, or is it from mine?

Great overview w/the pics! But you should see the ones we took AFTER the event out at the shore... Billie kept asking passers-by whether they'd seen his boat... but alas, we had to return home by land.
