I was firing the Mortar, as to the "vintage" it refers to the boat Im rebuilding not quite pirate vintage but still vintage compared to most others out there 1930's Alden ketch

How about simply burrying some mortars like crudbeard did?

Last weekend I became a part of PiP in the background helping as a part of the gun crew. This was not my first festival but was my second and I did see many familiar faces between the 2 events I have become an unofficial part of. I really enjoyed the festival and hope to become a more integral part next year. I have been activly reading many of the threads and approve of much of what I hear, regarding the safety issue during one of the battles I happened to catch a finger and while it was nothing more than a small scratch it did bleed a bit. Within seconds of others noticing there was a bandaid in my hand, my compliments even though it was so small I didnt need it the response was immediate and I was very impressed.

Mustn't forget the Viceroy and his guns . . . Actually there are rough plans for more mortars

A while back when I crossed the pond (under sail) we ended up in the spanish port of Mao where the Maltese Falcon came in and anchored next to us, what an impressive ship. I didn't get the chance to go on board but I did get to look at her up close and personal.

I happen to know someone in Key Largo that is capable of doing a presentation of Mary Read and could time it between shuttle runs. I don't know if it is possible to use the space in front of the Pirate Soul museum or not.

Excellent idea on the anchoring of the schooner as it seems ships take far too long to circle and fire. The natural complication there is due to the channel. Also finding a long boat may be more difficult than one might think. But boy it would be good to be able to have 2 or 3 come around an anchored ship and actually land. An anchored ship opens a world of oppurtunities.

Has there been any thought given to spreading the word more? Perhaps something as simple as some people in costume talking it up at the Pirate Soul museum where the free shuttle was running from?
