  1. We should have a Key Lime Pie bake-off. Everyone bakes a Key Lime Pie and I get to eat said pies and judge them. How is this not a good idea?

But William, you'll ruin your girlish figure!

  2. FTPI reflections

Well here I sit, still in KW stuck due to weather. The extra day gave me some time to think back over last weekend and try to condense my thoughts. I've never been one for long drawn out postings so I will try to be brief, and most likely fail.

The end of this event is always met with a sense of loss. It always feels like a piece of me is missing as I load up and head North. This whole year I got to see first hand the amount of work that goes into pulling this festival off. Lily and Mama we all owe you a huge debt of gratitude, your dedication and hard work made it all possible. To all who set up camps, thank you for your patience with me as I was in no way ready to be responsible for camp set up, but with all our help, the whole thing came together an looked great. Spike & Crispy, thank you for letting me work your mortar crew, and spike your piece as I deserted. William, hearing you swear at us as your flag went up for auction is a memory I'll treasure forever. Diosa, keep that demon beast in your bosom, lest it tear someones throat out. CJ thanks for picking me up and getting me where I needed to be. Harry, it will always be an honor to serve under you on a gun crew. Shay, what can I say, you are the best, I haven't eaten a meal like that in years, and you hauled it in a 90 year old car. Doug from Searle's, save me some of that pocket food for next year. Poppa, can't wait to see the pics from this year, you either need to take fewer pics or get more minions to rotate them so you can get some sleep. Jai you did the dirty work, and made us all look good. Cap, I can't say how much I appreciate the hours you put in on the suit, even though you didn't have the time to spare. Silkie & Galen, having you two for the long drive got us here safe. Be, the closing was wonderful as always, great idea going with water to make sure all were included. And to all those I forgot to mention, none of it would have happened without you.

    Looking forward to next year

P.S. Deadeye, I cannot thank you enough for making my friends feel so welcome in your home, you are a fine, fine man.

  3. In the case of rain I use the closest Hilton!

    Capn' Rob -

You and M'lady Patricia are of one mind, though she prefers Hampton Inn.

    Jas. Hook

I heartily agree, although I am a Marriott man meself, the breakfast buffet is better.

  4. Thank you all for your kind words. The front and back are slanted at a 7* angle and dovetailed into the sides. The mortised locks came from the local Woodcraft store, and the hinges are from American Heritage Crafters (great resource). The simple beckets are 3/4" hemp line with a half hitched wrap, and the cleats are oak and attached with rose head cinch nails. I hope it serves you well Master William.

    Your humble carpenter

  5. Well I have finally finished Mr William Redwake's sea chest. All 1" thick, wide pine boards, with poplar runners. The finish is milk paint. I just wish I could do better beckets. Now to figure out how to ship it.....

  6. OK how's this one, I am an NRC licensed Reactor Operator at nuclear power plant in NY. So your government trusts me with a 1775 MW nuclear reactor. Yes I have heard the Homer Simpson jokes, and yes they are all accurate. I also like going low tech when I get the chance.

  7. Here are some pic of a hammock I made from the pattern mentioned. Nice features are that is adjustable in length, and the rope work is not too hard. You do want a sewing palm for the stitches. I learned that 36" is a bit narrow, so I widened it to 48", also I lengthened it to 90" rough to come out 72" between the seams. (I'm 5'9" and wanted to fit) It is amazingly comfortable, and not difficult to put together, just time consuming, the hitched eyes take forever and you have 24 to do. You can also roll it and tie off to store all your clothes, so it doubles as a seabag, pretty handy all around. Hope this helps.

Top notch! Very nice work mate.

I was looking ta craft somethin like this prior to PIP 2009. With flyin in and all, I punted on a lot of stuff and bartered fer a lightweight nylon hammock ta get by.

twas the first time I ever closed mine eyes on a hammock - sure beats a cot. been meanin' to get back to this work tho, and you just might have provided the inspiration with those pics...

    Thank ye Sir!

If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line. Always happy to help out.

  8. thank you mistress alexander and master crips...very helpfull...pics forthcoming.

  10. oi...is this why is aint been buldin me new sleepin hammock??

Pics of the sleepin hammocks will be along presently, finishing eyelets on #2, seaming on #3, clews for both are done. Give me time man.

  11. EO'K -

    Very nice indeed! wink.gif

One comment though - the bottom feet look a bit thin for a traveling table.

Their thinness, particular in pine, may subject them to damage.

    Jas. Hook

I thought about that, they are 5/4 stock and the clearest grained portions of the boards, If I run into problems, I can apply hardwood runners to the bottom for added strength.

  12. Pretty standard construction, breadboard edge on tabletop to keep it flat, wedged stretcher. I did use Allen screw fastener nuts from the big orange box to tie the leg assemblies to the top. (some minor modification required) The whole thing packs down to 70" L x 22.5" W x 3.5" thick. I sized the top to fit up against the wall of my trailer.

  13. Well now the weather here in the frozen North has turned, I am back in the shop. Here is my most recent project, it is a slightly altered copy of a knock down trestle table that we bought at MTA from the great folks of Lord Grey's Retinue. All she needs now is finish sanding, stain and a good coat of oil.

  14. the biggest compliment we have got so far......that NONE of the scripted parts that the Producers brought for us...to make sure there was a flow to the show...ever made it to air....

everything that made it on the show...was improv'd or off the cuff...the producers have said that there was sooo much that simply couldnt fit do to time constraints...and are seriously considering a 2nd show...of just outtakes

Well let us hope for the best as I am sure many of us would love to see the bits left out...

Agreed on that, I was laughing all day through the whole 10 hours of the show, they could make a whole series out of the fun stuff! ALthough I must say, I was editing and uploading these pieces at work and keep giggling at Dogge's lines..... My coworkers think i'm loony... yeah, i know... not a long stretch....

    Diosa,

I know I have to told you this already, but it bears repeating. Thank you so much for giving me the chance to be a part of this. I really had the time of my life. I just wish the final edited version would have been half as funny as the raw footage. You did us all proud that day, and I am just glad I didn't let you down. Thanks Again

  15. This is where I am right now... and what they say about what I just got....

    http://www.pctools.com/threats/view/name/Internet%20Security%202010/?ref=google_internetsecurity2010&gclid=CIL7spqUzp8CFSEbawodnyfE0Q

Internet Security 2010 is a rogue antivirus, which means it’s a program that pretends to be an antivirus program, but is actually designed to infect your PC. PC Tools have seen this rogue being forced onto the PCs of users who have unwittingly visited malicious websites. These websites take advantage of interest in current affairs and world events, such as the Haiti earthquake or the NFL superbowl by showing up in search engine results for the topics of interest. When a person clicks on one of the malicious links, their browser is redirected until a fake antivirus message pops up, enticing the person to download the malicious installer file. If the person clicks anywhere within the browser, the download and installation will start automatically.

We had that last night. Probably did not come from Poppa's site as it requires a windows re-start to load. Easy to remove. Just follow the instructions here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-internet-security-2010 got rid of the dam thing in less than 1/2 hour. At least this virus wont do any harm, just a massive nuisance. It's trying to get you send money to buy another virus.

    Good Luck
