  6. There are many of the Bretheren on this list who opperate inland. That should not stop ye from enjoying boating. I have been wanting to make a Pirogue for years. A friend of mine made one of Uncle John's Pirogue made from a kit. These boats are great pyrate boats. Now a period pirogue would be a dug out. But I think this could work. Check out this site. http://www.unclejohns.com/boat/default.htm If anyone isgoing to make one, let me know. We can compare notes. Bully MacGraw
  7. Clan MacColin!! We're cousins. I was with the old Clan Colin in Northern Fair! Cheers
  8. The question was asked why the vessel is being sold. and one responded that they were not making ends meet. I saw the books. The HC is a very sucessfull charter business. Running a strong business year after year takes a lot out of you. It is the time for her owner to move on to his next adventure. Cheers Ed
  9. St. Francis Bay! Born and Bred! Me Great Grand Father Seamus landed in 1859. His brother died here in 1849! We never found a better place to call a home port.
  10. I must disagree my brothers. Living on the Bay does cost a pretty Penny. But the Chieftain is by no means the grandest prize on the Bay! For a commercial operation this be the place to operate! Now don’t go off about the Chieftain being a commercial operation, piracy was a commercial operation! Commerce got the bloody ships on the sea, Commerce is GOOD. Commerce gives pyrates something to hunt for! I am doing my best to sell her to a local Capt! I want to keep her on the Bay! When the Californian was for sale, or got a ship load of non-profit types to purchase her, but no luck!
  11. My dear Royalist Your news was but a rumor! She is now officialy for sale! Selling her me self I am! Defend her! If ever ye were to take such a fine prize, ye would defend her also! Watch for the sharpshooters in the rigging
  12. Hear! ye Here Ye! You lot of bloody sea dogs. Be the first to hear that the Hawaiian Chiftain is on the market! The vessel is listed with the very reputable firm of McGrath Pacific. Now no Hawaiian Chiftain bashing! She is now in me charge and I will defend her to the last man! Details of the vessel will be at www.mcgrathpacific.com

  14. Marlinspikes are still made by Osborne. There is a fisherman's sully company in San Francisco that sells them. On the internet thier is a Canadian company that makes spikes. They have a web site
  15. I should have made myself clear. I DID OT WRIGHT THIS. I wish I knew who to give credit!
  16. A Visit From Whitebeard 'Twas the night afore Christmas, and down below decks all the prisoners was sleepin'-with chains 'round their necks. A mutineer was hung from the yardarm with care so's all o' the others was sure to beware. The crew was all nestled below in their bunks: they slept just like babies-but smelled just like skunks. The mate with his cutlass, and me with me gun had just settled in for a long drink o' rum, when over the decks there arose such a clammer, I reached for me pistol, and pulled back the hammer. Away to the porthole I flew in a wink- I opened it wide, and I threw up me drink. The moon to the west was the probable source of the naggin' suspicion that we was off course, when what to me matey's one eye should appear but eight flyin' goats and an old buccaneer! I went for me spyglass when first they appeared and I knew in a minute it must be-WHITEBEARD! More rapid than seagulls they flew toward me quarters - and he lashed them, and cursed them, and barked out these orders: "Now, Long Jack! Now, Silver! Now, Dutchman and Flint! On Barnacle, and Bluster! On Cable, and Quint! To the top o' the mains'l, to the top o' the mast! Now cast off that line! No, not that one! OH, BLAST!" As ships that are pitchin' and driven by blizzard when met with an obstacle, ram through its gizzard, so into the crow's nest his vessel did crash with a blasphemous curse, and the crack of a lash. And then, in a twinkling, I heard him aloft as he climbed down the rigging all stealthy and soft. As I pulled in me head and went back in the gloom down onto the deck Whitebeard hit with a BOOM! He was blackened with powder burns, head down to boot, and we hid 'neath me bunk as he searched for the loot. A rusty old cutlass that hung by his side made me feel very glad we'd decided to hide. His eye, how it festered! His features, how salty! He tripped and he fell, 'cause his vision was faulty. His ratty white hair was tied back with a scarf, and the beard on his chin was so white you could barf. The stump of his knee was held up by a peg- and how well I remember-'twas I took his leg! He had a long, jagged scar, and a stomach gigantic that rolled when he walked like the northern Atlantic. He was ugly and fat-a right scurvy old elf so I stayed where I was and threw up on myself. For the look in his eye and the tilt of his head soon gave me to know that we soon might be dead. He spoke not a word, but went straight to the hold and he stole all the silver, and bagged up the gold, and locking the treasure up inside a chest went back up the rigging into the crow's nest. He boarded his craft, to his team gave a yell, and away they all flew just like bats out of Hell! But I heard him proclaim, like a ghost from afar, "I'll be back again next year-be ready! Har, harrr!"
  17. I finally got to my keyboard The Royalist looked fine flying the King (French) colours as she past my docks! on Saturday! Cheers Bully
  18. I posted this somewhere elso on this form at the end of a topic. I woul like to repost it here for all to read The Mistress You look lustfully at my firm belly and my small breast. My perfume fills your very being. You would seek fame and adventure through me! Sail upon me, sir, and I shall dance to the wind Raising my gray skirts and lifting my white petticoats about you. I shall let down my long green hair and destroy you. Pulling you down to my cold heart Your flesh shall feed my kingdom! Your widow will curse me, while your children shall seek me. Escape me? Never! Survive my dance and forever I will have your soul. As an old man, you shall sit at my shore, My scent always in your mind Waiting for the day that I claim your ashes!
  19. I wish to thank the crew of the Royaliste for helping with the fund raiser. We had about 500 people show up. We raised a lot of cash for the Fire Boat Fund and we have five offers for the boats that were for sale. Once again thanks! Bully MacGraw P.S. Some items came up missing: The long boat Three 50 gallon barrows of port One hogshead of rum My Grand Father's watch My matching set of pistols three goats and my mistress. If these items should show up, please do return them to me.
  20. Our dear Mr. MacGraw has always thought the best defense is a strong offense. He spits out: "Aye my good sir! Wear yer best tomorow for when ye pass me guns, all that ye have on yer back will all that ye have in this world!"
  21. Our previously quit Bully MacGraw awakens from a drunken stooper and proclaims: "Not that I be the arrogant type ye know, but let it be known that all ships that shall pass me harbour MUST lower thar flags in respect to me! Now I have me guns primed and ready! I will not fire a warning!! So listen here Royaliste, Tales and Saber!! When ye pass, lower your flag AND I demand a Capt's share of all your plunder if'ns you think ye can get past me guns!" Will our Mr. MacGraw regret such a challange? Will the Roylaste lower her banner as she passes Mr. MacGraw's harbour? Stay tuned to this Pyrate channel! I am certain photos will follow! Hope to see people this week-end in Sausalito! Bully MacGraw
  22. I think a pilot was an expert on coastal cruising weather he had local knowledge or not. Capt. Drake captured a Spanish pilot and dragged him around the world In use to day, a captain pilots his boat down the coast and navigates across the ocean
