  1. Here's a pic of the pants Rush wore in the movie: I'm using AlterYears 'Easy Renaissance Breeches' pattern to use as a basis for mine, available at patternsoftime.com. Probably not correct for GoAP, but easy enough to alter
  2. That was my thought exactly, when a friend asked me the same question. As for the legend of the Flying Dutchman, the writers have said they drew influence from the Wagnerian opera. In that story, if the captain of the Dutchman could find a love who'll be true, the curse would be lifted. However, Iron Bess has said that the curse didn't lift for Will, so I suppose the writers took license with that bit, as is their right
  3. OK, I have to say, while I liked the PotC3 VG book, it's pretty much a collection of photos of props and costumes. There are some cool features, but I'm the mom of a 5-year-old, so we're easily entertained. I also like to see the detail in the costumes. So, I'm not sure the VG is for you. Now, on the other hand, I just got a good look through The Art of PotC. THAT book is amazing. The whole thing is the concept art, from the first movie, where they didn't have the actors pinned down, to the last, with some AMAZING detail sketches. It's absolutely gorgeous, and I've let me captain know that one goes on me Christmas list.
  4. Janeane Garofalo. Same temperment
  5. 1) You have GOT to be the coolest Grandpa EVER! 2) Where DID you get that cannon? I need one
  6. I've got the Visual Guide. It's nice for pics for garb and accessories, and it has a nice cross-cut of the Black Pearl, with the different areas of the ship. Nice for teaching my little pirate about a bit of history. "The Art of ..." is on my wish list.
  7. Oooh, I love finding new (to me, anyway) music. Thanks all
  8. Nay, not the only one. I heard that classic theme in my head when I saw that scene, and I do believe it could be laid over the existing music and fit in fine :)
  9. Off and on throughout my life, as long as I can remember. Probably the first influence was Treasure Island, then later the PotC ride at Disneyland (my second favorite after the Jungle Cruise ). Later, I got involved with Renn-Faires, and pirates had the most fun and wore the most comfortable clothing Finally, when PotC1 came out on DVD, my 2-year-old became our little pyrate. He's been a pirate every year for Halloween since then (trick-arrrrr-treat), has quite the child-friendly armory, and the coolest garb (lucky for him Mommy sews). My husband fell right into the role, so we're now a family of pyrates :)
  10. Really? I'm suprised by that, as they were inspired by the Wagner opera. I guess Liz wasn't all that true (Shrug) Oh well... maybe Will can't read music. Well, not everyone likes opera
  11. I play some guitar, some keyboards, and I'm trying to teach myself penny whistle. Mostly I sing, I've lots of sea shanties under me belt
