  1. A simple google search yields some results. I found the play in bookform on Amazon, although it uses modern spelling...you'd probably want something different, but anyway: http://www.amazon.com/Recruiting-Officer-G...r/dp/1854593404 Only 10 dollars, so what the hell, eh?
  2. I think that would be a splendid addition to my garb! Let's see those construction details.
  3. Well, I'm definitely not the chief authority on this (quite the contrary, actually) but I was trying to scope this out. In many of the pictures I've seen depicting GAoP sailors, belts are more of just...sashes, for lack of a better word. From what I can tell, quite a few pictures depict mariners with (what I assume to be) cloth tied around their waste. I've also seen pictures that lead me to believe that leather (I think) belts with buckles weren't uncommon. As for the ring belts, I don't doubt that it was possible -- just how common it was. Alas, as I finish my post, I realize I was little to no help. Oh well. I bet Greg or Foxe would have a better grasp on the subject.
  4. Well, not really sure what you want to know, but I must say it's a mighty fun game -- easy to learn the basic rules, too.
  5. The first one looks mighty fine, Mister Gage. Outta curiosity, where're you finding these from?
  6. East end of Long Island, in New York.
  7. Ah, thanks. I'm surprised New York isn't on that list! Another question (more or less pertaining to the subject), when most people nowadays fire their flintlocks (let's say, at a festival), are they using ammo or just blanks?
  8. Well, since I'm new to this game, I was wondering about black powder (for firing pistols and whatnot.) Where is it possible to purchase black powder? And also, how legal is it?
  9. Well, after playing some Sid Meier's Pirates (not the most historically accurate game, of course) I was wondering -- was it common (or at least plausible) for pirates to wear metal armor? I mean, a cuirass would surely help during a fight.
  10. I've always considered "pyrate" to be a spelling to give a more archaic feel. A similar thing with vampire and vampyr... I dunno, they're the same troublemakers to me!
  11. Thanks for the link, Captain Jim. I'm thinking of making myself a gourd banjo.
  12. I'm not sure, but it's very possible that an average katana could've been used...
  13. Looks amazing, but the tripod looks kinda modern. Still great!
  14. Now the real question is: Are they proper for their period?
  15. I'm definitely not the best person to answer, but, aesthetically, I would choose the second one. I've no idea if it's period or not, however. Let's see your current one, mate!
  16. That mean I can bring me banjo and still be period? Lordy, now I just need to learn how to play...
  17. I was wondering, what instruments are period (GAoP) and might have been used by pirates. I was thinking concertina, but I'm not sure what else.
  18. New York. I've seen replicas being sold with and without the orange, so it might be ambiguous.
  19. Cool suggestions! How did the pyrates of old make their flags? I'm guessing stitching?
  20. My friends tell me that all firearms need an orange tip at the end so cops know that it's not a real gun. See, I was thinking of buying some flintlock replicas that had the working mechanism but didn't actually fire. Is the "orange tip" necessary for these? It kinda ruins the historical accuracy. Also, if I were to get working pistols, would I need any liscence or something? I'm under 18, so I dunno if I could even buy them...
  21. I think I might paint if I need it in a hurry, otherwise I'll use the help of some of my seamstress (seamster?) friends.
  22. Y'think stitching the white into the black would be best, or paintin' it?
  23. Looks nice, Amanjiria. A few questions: How wide is the blank, what'd you use to trim the hat, and how'd you steam it? Also, how historically accurate would wearing the uncocked hat be? I really like the way it looks, but I'm going for historical accuracy...
  24. Thanks. How would you guys reccomend putting that onto an actual flag?
