Congrats to Disney and my friends at ILM.

I toured the Rose when she was set up with the "Master and Commander" props/sets. It was a lot of fun. The Lady Washington was visiting the museum at the time and I HAD to go see her.

A group of us are going to "board" the Rose during the San Diego Comic-Con International convention in July. I'm working on a scruffy Norrington outfit for one of the guys. I have the cement mixer in the backyard ready to "distress" the coat.

After spending money on airline tickets for a family of 4 to do the Disney Cruise last year, I would appreciate not having to fly across the nation. And I've been wanting to do an Alaskan cruise forever!

I'll have to repost this on my other boards for my fellow Trekkies (not Trekker, I'm OLD!).

Unfortunately I've been in a galaxy far, far away these past months so at the moment I have no suggestions.

However I'll be helping with a Cub Scout Day Camp whose theme is "Buccanear Boot Camp". I'll definitely be looking for suggestions from my fellow pirates for entertainment ideas and other things we can do with the kids (ages 7 to 11).

I might be interested in some of your hemp for knot tying; that or tying some of the kids to a tree when they get on my nerves.

Has anyone thought to contact the Discovery Channel?

Seems like this would make an excellent documentary and perhaps some "high roller" doners would be willing to contribute to the salvage operation. Being a non-profit organization would make the donations tax deductible.

First, Disney does nothing to truly promote POTC (from a public standpoint.)  Then they go overboard.  I think somewhere in the middle is perhaps the best policy.  They've already changed the POTC ride - why mess with another themed part of the park?  Doesn't make sense.

But it does make "cents" ($$$$).

It's hard to argue against the power of the almighty dollar.

I would love to learn about medicine of the time. A surgeon persona would be great but, alas, probably not believable for the female pirate.

BadMcCrack, the Royalist and her crew have long been "mascots" of the Pub so as a new member, you were not aware of their history with this group.

It's good to be cautious about sending money to someone or an organization you don't know, but you would have seen from their web site that theirs is a legal, non-profit organization.

The members of the pub, me included, are emotionally bound up in the fate of the Royalist so anything that smacked of scorn or ridicule makes us pirates step up to fight.

Now that you know the truth of the matter and have heard from our resident experts on navigation, if you still desire to make a contribution that would be grand.

For the Disney MGM Studios Star Wars Weekends, I haven't heard of anything special. But out here on the West coast there is a rumor that Disneyland may do something while the 30th Anniversary convention is going on in May. They don't let us do Star Wars Weekends out here and it's very frustrating.

Also if you're near Los Angeles next month, the California Science Center is hosting a special exhibit called "Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination". It runs February 11 to April 29. Lots of very cool exhibits and props (Luke's landspeeder) from the movies.

I do my cutting of fabric on the floor and the cats play the "lets crawl under this nice fabric" game. Lumps are very hard to cut around.

I also found the eye-patch myth very interesting. I like how they tested it. I know Jamie was trying not to laugh at Adam's "pirate-speak".

I definitely like the seal. Very cool.

I wasn't chosen to be in the parade (even though I tried 4 times with both good guy and bad guy costumes), but I did watch it from the stands with a group of marcher supporters. I knew most of those marching, especially the good guys - six of which are in my good guy costuming club (Rebel Legion, sister club to the 501st).

Of course everyone gets lumped into the 501st category so we're kind of used to being overlooked as a separate organization. The big point was having that many fan-made costumes on display on national television.

About 20 of the Stormtroopers were local to Southern California as were most of the "hero" characters. And then there were the unsung, real heroes of the day - all those people who showed up to help decorate the floats which must be ENTIRELY covered in plant material (flowers, seeds, bark, etc). It's a HUGE amount of work and my gratitude goes towards them for all the work they did with no public recognition.
