  1. I belive there are at least two main reasons. I think one is like tattooing A.C.A.B. on your knuckles, sure it makes sure the cops beat the crap of you every time you get arrested. But it shows you´re not just full of wind. It shows you´re dead serious about it. The other thing is that it makes sure that everybody fights if you are attacked by government loyals. If you are cought nobody can put the blame on the others since you all signed the articles. It is kind of an insurance that everyone will do their best.
  2. Yea, Calmar Nyckel was swedish. So was Nya Sverige in todays Delawere. At this time Finland didn´t even exist other than as a part of Sweden. And the finnish flag (the white and blue) wasn´t composed until the early 1900´s when the struggle for freedom from Russia began. But Calmar Nyckel has both the swedish and the finnish flag, so thats why I´m wondering... :)
  3. Oi! How many here does not live in the US? I guess Redbeard´s scottish an me being swedish. But are there anyone else from Europe? Or maybe even Asia, Australia or Africa?
  4. Oi! Well it´s them lazy, polite bastards in the colonies that don´t know how to drink Scotsman? You guys gave us John Norcross, my fav captain from the Gothenburg Privateers :)
  5. Just out of curiosity.... Why do Calmar Nyckel fly the finnish flag? Not that it has not happened before that the white and blue has showed up in "piratical" places. Remember Port Royal in "Cutthroat Island"?
  6. Too bad I already planned a trip to Hamburg, to see the PC(Piratically Correct) football team FC St. Pauli... Two trips in one month is too expensive....
  7. Well in my opinion it is a very well researched fictional book. And according to a friend of mine is Björn Larsson a really swell guy
  8. Oi there! I was wondering if anyone knows about any copyright-free texts bout pirates in digital form that one can use. We are trying to collect as many texts as possible on our site at the moment, but I realized that there are very few... As we all know there were quite a few books written bout pirates several hundred years ago and many of these should be copyright-free by now. But are they digitalized? Other subjects interresting would be fencing, sailing, guns, historical food and drinks and historical gaming. The idea is not to collect links but to collect the actual texts so the we won´t be depending on an external servers existence. Best wishes /Micke
  9. Well, depending on the age of the participants of the party of course, you should have rum and grog. To make it a little bit extra use white rum and pour in just a little bit of gunpowder into it(old "black-powder" not the new smokeless kind) and let it stand for a few weeks so the powder mixes good with the rum. It actually makes a difference in taste. And everybody knows that pirates drank it that way One nice way of making grog is to mix 1/3 of powdered rum and 2/3 of ale(more ale of you want to stay sober longer...). It´s a strong and quite tasty grog. Some kind of stew to eat and a lot of fruits to eat. Try to keep it somewhere where you can have a live fire. It does a lot for the ambience. Try to use wooden or metal plates and drinking vessels. Just a few tips that have made our pirate-punk-parties great here in the snowy north :)
