  1. Ahh missy ye'll have to come to Scarlett's Midwinter Fest in OKC in January since ye live so close.
  2. edit: Nevermind answered my own question
  3. Those are nice. Here is the corrected link by the way The Pots
  4. swords vary in thier 'ring' quality. CAS Iberia tend to thunk but whack two starfire blades together and you get a lovely ringing tone for example. So it all depends on the blade.
  5. I have that same characteristic.. just not in near as pleasing to the eye way I am sure hehe. Meaning I have a largish upper torso so the baldric has to pass farther. Have you considered wet modling your holsters? I am consider building a generic gun form out of wood to use as a mold. I have been using 8-10oz tooling bellies for a lot of things. fairly stiff but you can still tool designs into it. If you look in my wrist cuff thread the black one was cut from this stuff.
  6. what pattern are you using for the holsters? I found a nice one I am going to modify in an old issue of Leathercrafters and Saddle journal. I am wanting to build my own baldric in such a way as to be able to attach the holsters or not and still look good. The baldric I have right now for my costume cutlass hangs the sword at a pretty good down angle as opposed to the more straight back rapier style. The problem is it is built only for that sword and is pretty poor quality leather. But it has a wonderful buckle heh which I plan to plunder for when I get around to building mine. Not sure how you would make a more generic adjustable baldric though. Probably can with in rason but the way you have built your to much play and the frog would not stay in the right spot I think. Which brings you back to custom building for each customer. hehe maybe you just put your on and take some measurements so you can ask folks who buy one from you to send those measurements to build to spec. Oh and I have a back sheath that has a narrower strap. To narrow really at an inch and a quarter. I think from now on I won't go any smaller than 2 inches. food for thought. What happens with the smaller strap is it won't stay where you put it even custom measured.
  7. oo precut tiny straps...now we are talking hehe. I do like that basic design though. Did you make it from a pattern or just freehand it? oh and that would be around 8 oz leather. a quick conversion is 1/32 of an inch equals 2 ozs.
  8. Agreed Tom, I went and read his original comment and though gee he is talking about a medieval SCA event. GAoP wether historical or movie would be totally out of place there so his comments were appropriate for the setting.
  9. Amen to that. I ended up buying a coat this year at the KC ren fair heh. This however is one nice piece of work. One of these days I might actually get my wife to work her sewing skills up to this point.
  10. I made these recently for my over the top movie pirate costume. obviously when going more historically accurate they probably would not have been worn. But for the swashbuckling stage comabatant or pirate performer they can go over quite well with the crowd. The black one is held on by two straps with 3/8 inch buckles the brown one with just lacing holes. These are custom fit to the wearer's wrist. namely..mine
  11. how much play in the length is there in those? Or are they custom fit to the person? that is one problem I have had with baldrics is I am short :) normally the ones I find premade are for taller type folks :) What size leather did you use? Belt grade or cut the peices yourself? and do you hate as much as I do cutting straps for them tiny buckles? oh and paypal is pretty easy to set up to take. They will even transfer the funds to your bank account for you. I finally got around to setting my account up to accept as well as send a few months ago.

  13. As I posted in my welcome greetings I was a pirate for 5 days starting the 27 and thru the 31st for HallowMarine. an annual event held at the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks Ok. Was grat fun but one of the wee lil ones gave me his cold. However I did get hugged by a cute little Thomas the Tank engine. and many folks wanted pictures with the pirates. Some of the adults even hehe
  14. Hmm so lets see if I can follow this train. In 1995ish I played a game on the GEnie network called Multiplayer Battletech. there I took the name Shadoe Ryder(nothing to do with the motorcycle) but as the web and online games grew I often found that name already taken so it often gets shortened to shadoes or shadoe42(42 of course being the answer to the ultimate question of Life the Universe and Everything) My pirate name of Edward Onyx or Black Edward is basically my real first name Edward with something that sounds nifty. Oddly enough I was going to call myself Edward Emerald but then found out from the cast director for a local fair that there was already a long established character there with Emerald as her first name so I changed it to avoid any confusion and the like. Since this particular character is still in the creation process it was easy to alter the name and Onyx goes more with the Black Edward moniker than emerald :)
  15. my wife and I made it up to KC for the last weekend of the Faire. Weather was icky heh.
  16. and thar were plenty o wee ones tonight let me tell you. Probably more tonight than any two other nights combined hehe. Man I hate it when I find a kewl name and have to alter it. Talked with the cast director of a show he wants me involved in late Jan and there is already a character there with Emerald in their name. So I redub myself Edward Onyx(have a thing for shiny stones apparently hehe). Fits more with Black Edward anyway
  17. I look on it as more enablin' the wee ones to get started on thier plunderin a bit early
  18. I'll be doin the same thing I have done the last 4 nights. putting on the garb and heading out to HallowMarine at the Tulsa Aquarium givin candy to the wee one's and what older ones will actually admit they are havin a good time
  19. Greetin's all. Just sailed in lookin for places to talk pyratey things. Capt Jack Daniels told me about this place. Bit of a background I attend/perform at various local faires. Both as a pirate and medieval/renassaince stuff. I have spent way to much money on this little hobby :) Currently I am about to finish a fun event here in Tulsa called HallowMarine. Put on by the local aquarium. They have set the whole place up as a dock/port area with a haunted sunken ship in the background. Pretty much your typical hollywood pirate type vein. Being pyratical and giving out treasure to small children. Great fun. um...lets see..that's about it... basically just a message to say AHoy! so..... Ahoy! Avast! Black Edward Emerald aka Ed Miller
