  1. And delighted I was to meet the many pirates in attendance: especially Blackbead, and Piratesse: two of the nicest pirates I've ever crossed paths with!

    Capt. William

Oh, thank you!! It was excellent meeting you! My husband and I both admired and were intrigued by your vast historical knowledge. You definitely were a deciding factor in "Was it worth the trip?"!

    You wife was also delightful!

  2. I expect this to be the greatest adventure of our lives . . . so far!"

Blackbead whirled back to face the sea and as the bo'sun walked away he could have sworn that he heard the old sea dog buzzing with excitement.

Aye, I do believe this will be a blast. See ya there!

  3. During our visit to Italy for the 2006 Olympics in Torino, we made a side trip to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower, then just up the coast to Viareggio for their Carnivale ~

Look closely at the center of the photo - you'll see the DJ, which gives you a better idea of how massive these moving

floats are. Makes Macy's look like kidsplay.

Italy..how beautiful. Carnevale must have been a blast!!

  4. I think it be a casting used by ?jewelers? fer producing ahhh charm bracelet trinkets? The top left flake is indeed an inverted penguin as may be the others. The cone on the bottom be where molten metal is poured inta the mold. The stubby cutoff branches on the lower be penguins whats been removed. Wild guess. Next.

    We have a winner!

Yes, these are jewelry pieces that have not been cut away from their sprues, the term for the "stem" that connects the items to the mold.

So, do you have a picture we can guess at?

  5. Holy cricket, you folks are brutal. I viewed the video - it's a link to YouTube (a site linked many, many times at the Pub before.)

The video contains music and pirate images. It's not spam. Is it so out of line for someone work on a pirate project, and then assume folks at a pirate forum might be interested?

    Well said.

I liked it, and they were just sharing their project with like-minded others.

Good for them. Courage to show your talent is commendable.

  6. Well! Apparently my Insects of the Moment thread was deleted last year!  I'm tellin' ya'... it just ain't fair!

In lieu of posting there and in honor of the sad passing of a really idiotic post (but it was my idiotic post), here is the insect of the moment. Guess what it is.

    butterfly_body.jpg

The upper section of a butterfly ~ head, thorax, legs, top of abdomen. Hmm.. I don't see the proboscis...guess he's not hungry.

  7. To ALL interested pyrates in the DFW area and ESPECIALLY to Captain Satan and Flintlock jack:

The Brotherhood of the Gulf will behaving a formative get together at the Trail Dust Steak House at the corner of IH-30 and Hwy 360 in Arlington on Thursday, March 15th.  The actual get together will begin at 7:30 but Captain jasper and I plan on being there early to start the pre-St. Patrick's Day festivities.  We hope to see you there!

    Blackbead

It was wonderful and fun to meet everyone. You and your wife are great people!

I know I was very talkative, and hopefully your meal wasn't too frostbitten by the time you actually got to enjoy it. Looking forward to another meet up!
