  1. Btw, here's what the Barbossa lily looks like, in case anyone had trouble following Charity's link: I think we should plant an entire garden of pirate-themed lilies. Anyone know of other appropriate varieties? Cheers, Hester
  2. There's also a lily called the "Pirate King": That's appropriate: deep purple in colour, shaped like a tricorn-hat, with white frilled edging like ostrich feathers. I love lilies, they're one of my favourite flowers. And my Yorkshire grandma was named Lily! Cheers, Hester
  3. Alas, Cap'n Zeph: When I click on your link the photobucket screen says, "oops, no video".

^Yes, I think so. Provided there's plenty of rum & butter tarts on board. < Really suffering from allergies this morning (that's why I'm up so early). I can't wait until the frost finally kills the ragweed. In the meantime, my nose is running like a tap, and I fear I might drown. v If you had a time machine, where would you go, and in what period?
  5. Yes, ... but imagine him covered in butterscotch sauce!
  6. Dave & Toni Arthur, Morning Stands on Tiptoe A compilation of traditional English folksongs by this pair of singers from the second folk revival, mostly a capella, including many nautical ditties, such as: Female Rambling Sailor The Guilty Sea Captain Admiral Benbow Father, Father, Build Me a Boat The Press Gang Terrific stuff! Cheers, Hester
  7. Is that any good? Available on DVD?

  9. This one's silk, with a Scottish theme: bagpipes, thistles, crests & unicorns: It's only about 16 in. square, which isn't very big, so I fold it diagonally into a narrow band and use it to tie back my queue. Cheers, Hester
  10. 29) It's directed by Joon:
  11. Ah, c'mon -- let's HEAR it! Slip us an MP3, mate!
  12. Yeah, if ya just pick up the tempo a bit, Clambeard, that would be a great punk track. Cheers, Hester

    Grog!

    I like:
  21. I've always found the SCA name to be quite ironic: "Society for Creative Anachronisms" ...when most of the participants are pretty dogmatic about being "in period" and "authentic". When googling some medieval vegetarian food ideas for my Robin Hood group (Robin Hood enthusiasts who don't eat venison -- go figure!), I discovered a SCA page that discussed how controversial artichokes are -- ARTICHOKES for Goddess sakes! Anyhow, I served artichokes to my Robin Hood band, as a form of subversive misrule (plus, they're green, so they adhere to the colour scheme). Cheers, Hester
