A great place for inexpensive fabrics that come real close is amazingly enough, Walmart. Go to the upholstery section of materials - we just stocked up on 200 yards for an average of $2 a yard...

Ahoy All! PiP is definitely on with lots of new events, including the plank walkin' championships and the huge pirate's feast at the fort. It's far cooler than the ship, with smoke pouring out of the skull's mouth, animated pirates tipping around on barrels and popping out of doors - a great sound track - Diosa found it for me at Michaels... After all a ship need proper anchorage. It's around $70, but look for the usual coupons for 40% off they run sometimes in the newspapers...

Dog Brown would kick his arse all over the Caribbean, ladies... He kills his own brother, has another one shot, tries to kill his niece, kills one crew member for complaining not enough food was aboard and another for killing his other brother. That's not counting all the dead bodies in the battle, the pub scene... Barbossa's way too nice and sweet to be legendary. Pick a real bad arse with absolutely no redeeming value... (just havin' fun withcha)....don't want cannon threats or oaths to be tossed about now...

The Blackheart is indeed lookin' to be in fine shape, Animal. Huzzahs to the entire crewe and extra ration of elixir, Olaf! I think we're in fine shape for the upcoming voyages on the log. And lots of pillaging and plundering for the entire crewe to enjoy. And it looks like some nuptials for Merrydeath and Scupper. Animal should be the "next best man" actually, in case Scupper is up to his duties that day... :) After all, isn't Scupper the "best man" that day?

OK lads and lasses. How about great movie lines from movies that have nothing to do with pirates that would still sound good coming from a pirate. Savvy? For example, I've always loved the line from the Adventures of Robin Hood in which Errol Flynn is addressing the court at feast. The sheriff (I think) accuses Sir Robin... saying, "Sir, you speak treason." Robin's response: "Fluently." Fits a pirate anytime, eh? So what other lines are out there that would sound just as good coming from the mouth of a pirate or wench? -- The Captain

Ahoy Animal! We did The Pyrates proud at our raid of the St. Andrew's Pub. We sucked down plenty of fine ales, conversed with the Brits, had a helluva dart tourney (steel tip of course) and sang songs. A fine night indeed. And it looks like Ivan will be waylaying to the west, far from our post here in Portlando. So we are in safe harbor for the time bein' and hopin' the keys don't get whacked too hard. And safe thoughts to our pirate buddies down in the Caymans... -- The Captain

I must humbly agree with me mates. Three hurricanes in a month is a little bit taxing. If I didn't have to work for a living it would be fine, but moving all this equipment to and from our quarters to other safe harbors is very disruptive. Thankfully, Deadly Aim is on her way to Portlando to weather the storm away from the Keys. We shall be going pirating tonight to celebrate the prospective onslaught. Keep a weathered eye out for the blow and let's hope she only skirts the coast and doesn't head inland again... And pray to the "power" gods to keep our lanterns lit this time. The Southernmost is the stronghold of the Pyrates of the Coast again this year. Deadly Aim and the lot at the hotel are amazing and the property is conveniently located. It's on the very end of Duval on the Atlantic side. There's a mini mart, pharmacy, cuban cafe, liquor store, Camille's and several restaurants nearby. Most of the time the crewe simply did the walk up Duval and crawled their way back home after the day's piratical activities. You're about two blocks from the Southernmost Point and a couple blocks away from the Lighthouse and Hemingway House. There's a great pool with a tiki bar and two other pools elsewhere on the property. ***** as a pirate hangout. -- Hurricane

Ahoy all! The crewe of the Blackheart, Diosa, Sir Nigel and I are fine, hold up in an inn after Frances passed out way. Here's a few photos of ol' Hurricane riding out the storm... #1 Hurricane serves as the Romanian Judge, being hard on Frances with just a 7... #2 Why not go fly a kite? Sir Nigel and Hurricane plot the idea and take the Galleon kite for a test drive out in 45 knot winds. She was stout and steady, until her tail flew off into the lake. A second attempt almost dragged Sir Nigel into the drink... Yers in pyracy, Hurricane (out in the eye of the storm)

Olaf is right on. I've been a writer for 20 years now, and my writing is more likely to break many of the traditional rules than adhere to them. Write as much as you can. If you want some guidance let Word run the grammar and readability check for you... But don't get bogged down in how others label you. I've been Dyslexic all my life - it's not something you ever get over or are cured of, you only learn to deal with the learning disability by using alternative methods to learn. Memory and visualization exercises help, but I can still read faster upside down and backwards than forwards. You obviously have me beat in that area... and yet I've managed to get paid very well to write. It's all in your head... learn the craft of storytelling. Focus more on this lost craft to bring your writing to life and the rules be damned...
