Worst Jobs in History Woad dyer Symbol: Involves urine andor excrement Welcome to the world of woad – an invasive weed that, with a few simple pieces of equipment, fermented urine and wheat bran, can transform your world. Why not try your hand at woad processing and dyeing and discover a blue tone last used as body paint by the Picts in Roman Britain? We are reliably informed that a poor sense of smell, or no sense of smell at all, would be a definite advantage in this job, unless you are one of those who find the aroma of cabbage mixed with excrement and cat wee particularly appealing. A desire to live outside the city walls, whence you and all your fellow workers will be banished, would also be a plus. This stuff stinks, but where there's muck, there's brass.

My crewe votes, Boats first, liquor second..besides easier to demand it of others at gunpoint then to be foolish enough to pay fer it myself.

Thank ye Mickey, much obliged...

Mikey might I suggest another thread for just the necessary information... this is one is getting long to shift through... We obviously have the what, but do we have exactly the when, such as when can we truly arrive by, who we need to speak to when we get there, When do we have to be packed up and out of there? has parking been set in stone yet? If so exactly where (as in actual addresses and such for the mapquest folks) Will parking be free or is there cost? What exactly needs to be packed, approximately how much powder(roughly how many rounds to fire) Any idea of what the schedule will be? What you want demonstrated and by whom? I'm sure you don't want everyone demonstrating weapons or knots and nothing else... Of course we all are very aware that these things always seem to change at the last moment, but if you have some ideas please post...

someone please gouge out my other eye!!!! I will even provide the stick, finger, thumb, whatever...

ACK!!! We really will need a surgeon now... to tend to all the people who are going to be violently ill when Mission comes naked to camp... UGH... stomach is turning already
-
If we are pooling our money together to make the purchase of said drink, how on earth does that make it free? Perhaps less expensive, but free? Bloody quartermaster..

Hey I am not the least bit upset by yer posts, just seemed like you were trying to talk Mission into doing what he has done in the past at Pip where he helped contribute quite a bit to the history part of the pirate camps... I was just stepping in to clarify, since you would not speak for the Captain, and I thank you for that, not so much what our standards are just who we apply them to, which is crew members only. We certainly aren't the ones pointing at others and saying Hey yer wrong and yer idiots because yer wrong... the person that did that is NO longer a part of our crewe because of that behavior... we never comment on other people's kits unless they come to us first and ask what they can do to improve...We ourselves are not perfect and in fact, in many cases, still have a long way to go. But we are trying... and frankly to me, that is all that matters, that we keep trying to do the very best we can. To me this thread just sounded very much like we in the Archangel shut people out and we don't and Silkie you were not the only one coming across in this fashion. Personally I hate these kinds of threads because it is very difficult to get across, in print, exactly what one means... but the further I read the more it "sounded" like we make a habit out of shunning people and we never have.

Whew go away for an event and come back to all this. Personally the goals of the Crewe of the Archangel apply only to the crew. We have never shut anyone in our camp out for any reason other than they are unsafe (such as drunks who wander into our own private tents where children and women are sleeping, or guys who are harassing the women to a point of being no longer fun, or insist on handling weapons after they have been asked not to.) We set our goals for ourselves, to the extent that we have NEVER told a newbie they could NOT come to an event because their kit is not up to par just yet. If they don't have the right attire we always try to lend them extra kit that we have or we let them come anyway because we know they are trying to get their kit together... and why should they, just because they are new, miss out on all the fun. The only time we have had rules where folks can't come into camp IS SOLELY because the EVENT ORGANIZER/HOST set those particular rules, IN WHICH case we often leave the confines of the camp to go talk to those that aren't yet up to snuff and sit outside with them. We have NEVER judged other crews against our standards, other crews are just that other crews. They can do, or wear what ever they please and that has never offended any of us... striving to be a pc crew is just our thing... we have been to countless events where there are numerous Hollywood/non pc crews and we have always welcomed them into our camp and we have always been happy to work with/interact with/ and play with them. So Mission if you want to be a Hollywood pirate, go ahead... you will be welcome no matter what you wear as long as you don't come in naked.

Chicago Field Museum Whydah Exhibit Members Night
Capt. Sterling posted a topic in Crew of Archangel
To the Family, As always a job well done, a bit too well done perhaps as ye sold out the exhibit both nights, the second being done in less than two hours and then ye all became the exhibit. I will get ye all a total of numbers but so far ye dealt with 4000 on Thursday and 9000 on Friday. And Mr. Merriweather is a celebrity now... as we were entering the building Friday a group of boys saw him and started pointing and saying amongst themselves Look its John King from Whydah....his head no longer fits his hat! A special thanks to Maddogge, Grace and Cheeky for all the great photos, can't wait to see em posted! Between Maddogge "collecting" everyone's valubles at the check in and stopping traffic out on the street, to Bess's teeth(thanks for remembering all them gold coins for the kids)Billie and Gwen with Gunner's pet from the new world (all night long all ye could hear were kids and women screaming) and Dutch and Lilly swamped at the navigation/gaming table, Mr. Symms assisting the table, Madame Grace (who even got the chance to sing with Mary!), the lads in their new pirate pose, Pete Staw with his bag of gems, Mad Mary, Jamie (Yer kit is coming together beautifully, keep up the good work!), Carl, Charlton and the lovely English, Mr. Bottles and Bryan talking to all the folks and having Mr. March with us once again...AND HAVING GUNS AND SWORDS!!! It was hard work but well worth every second! A grand job of it all!! The staff is thrilled and we will be back for their events over the summer as well as the Family Field Day next Saturday. Thank ye again for all that ye do and do so well! -
Gee and some dumb arse "expert" said that there were no such thing as Native Americans on pirate ships... and that I should be researching Ninjas on pirate ships instead... so much for the expert, especially since we weren't even looking to have them as part of the crewe but part of the civilians in port, which was quite a common experience according to Williamsburg, Jamestown and actual Native American tribes down in Virginia, but then, hell, what do they know??
-
Dang! I heard there were few survivors ...I had no idea ...well that explaines alot! Aye, it does, does it not? I TOLD Bellamy to reconsider but would he listen???
-
Ye enjoy being stalked by Cousin Robbie?
-
Ah yes, I forgot, different time frame, different location.. my apologies...
-
Hmm now there's a thought... as I am done with mistresses. But Diosa don't be so fast to get rid of that cap... they wore em too.
-
Bloody hell... cousin robbie the stalker
-
Ask Sam Bellamy that... I let cousin Robbie join him on a salvaging trip once and well...
