  1. Any chance of getting the old images posted again? Having done Rev. War cavalry, we put together quite a few pairs of pistols buckets... my dad might still actually have the wooden form for shaping the leather... would love to see the images you guys posted earlier though to see if we would even be close with what was done during the later 18th century...
  2. Glad to see you're still here Jack!
  3. That's the real reason Pyrates wore eyepatches..... (saving thier night vision.... ppppfffft..... some people will fall fer anything...) And some O' them WallMart shoppers....(you know... the ones who should NEVER be alowed to EVER wear spandex.....) make that eyepatch one of me most treasured possessions........ (I have two eyepatchs just fer those tymes........) AND rum, fer th' tymes when even the most well made sturdy eyepatch just won't help....... (lot O' Rum.....) Kind of goes along with that bumper sticker... spandex isn't a right, its a privilege...
  4. **snigger**... welcome aboard the PR thread Thomas, ye can pour my drinks any time! But the ladies are right, tis not my yarn alone, actually tis Sir Henry's, he started it...
  5. “Promise me ye’ll take it easy,” March said as the three came to the gangplank‘s edge. Sterling’s brow instantly clouded over. “I be asking ye as a friend, John,” March continued. “Yes of course,” Sterling conceded. March offered his hand and Sterling shook it. “I’ll make my way over to join ye for breakfast in the morning,” March said, then with a bow, returned to Sterling’s quarters and Captain MacCraige. “Come along doctor,” Sterling grumbled as he crossed the gangplank. Reiley ran after him, then matched Sterling’s stride until they neared the end of the wharf. Increasing his pace, Reiley then moved ahead of his patient and waved down a sedan chair. “Get in,” he ordered as the chair and its carriers came to a stop next to him. The cloud resumed its command over the captain’s features, but Reiley was persistent. He opened the door and bowed low. With a greatly exaggerated wave of his arm, he directed Sterling to the inside of the chair. Sterling’s eyes narrowed dangerously as he silently fumed. Instead, a grin fixed itself to the doctor’s face, spreading broadly as he repeated the large sweep of his arm. “Ye look a fool, doctor,” Sterling snarled. “Better to look one then act one. I think your darlin wife would agree, don‘t you?” Reiley replied. “Leave Aurore out of this,” Sterling, said with a huff, finally entering the sedan chair. He would later allow himself the privilege of an even larger grin, and a quiet chuckle, as the good doctor panted alongside the chair while its carriers jogged quickly through the streets. As the chair halted once more outside The Three Crownes, Sterling was still laughing as he waited for Reiley to catch up. Once inside a room was arranged and the pair made their way upstairs. Sterling tossed the great beaver hat upon the bed as Reiley ordered a simple dinner for the two. The doctor handed over several coins before closing the door and turning to see Sterling once again with a thoroughly annoyed look upon his face. “Now what?” Reiley asked. Sterling pointed over his shoulder at the wall behind him. A steady thump, thump, thump of the headboard of the bed in the next room left little to the imagination. “Would have been quieter back on the ‘ Angel,” Sterling commented. He removed his coat and loosened his cravat. “I’ll never get any sleep here,” he insisted. “Oh I don’t know about that,” Reiley said, a mischievous look in his eye. “Quite the steady rhythm. Actually very boring… I think it will put you right to sleep, captain… bet it will the poor lass that be on her back, as well!” Reiley added with a laugh.
  6. The power to read people's minds when I wanted to.
  7. Carefully? Individually? On a case by case basis? Sometimes even after the fact? At which point apologies are made? Can one judge the boundaries of a metaphor? Is it soup yet? I can not tell ye where those boundaries lie, but I can tell ye do not bring the arena home. I might not want to bring the "fighting" part home but what goes on in the arena is often brought home to be discussed, vented, ect, with the Far Better Half, who always goes out of the way to assist, encourage, correct or guide... works wonders for me...
  8. ^ hmmm good question. Like Affair of the Necklace for the story, Master & Commander for the look < geeze there is almost a 100 page booklet on how to give a state test down here! V pass along the question favorite period film
  9. something that should keep the average joe awake
  10. ^ usually too busy figuring out the make-up or special effects to be bothered although the last Saw (3) actually made me grit my teeth. < having done some film and tv and studied for it, it takes a very good movie to keep me focused on the story and not how its put together... V how many times must you play a movie at home before you actually have seen the entire thing?
  11. Very interesting, but how does one actually judge the boundaries of the arena?
  12. “Please sit down Captain MacCraige. At least finish yer drink. As far as my health … tis nothing more than a few drinks too many, I assure you,” Sterling lied, then shot a warning glance at the doctor. Reiley could only hold his tongue for the moment and look away. Both March and Symms looked no different than when MacCraige first entered. Sterling took a sip of his own drink. “I thank ye sir, for your kind consideration regarding the gentleman that came to mine and Mr. March’s assistance. I am unfamiliar with him and will take ye and yer dog’s word of caution to heart,” he added, chuckling slightly to himself. “As to the other two, if I am correct in my reckoning, I am more than acquainted with them both, being my wife’s people. They have been following me since the little …ahem…incident of a few weeks past. If the man in black is of any serious concern, I am of sound belief that those two can handle him well enough. Now, as to yer ship. It would be my pleasure to be of assistance to ye, if a tow is all ye will be needing. I can also send along some extra hands for repairs if need be. The only thing I ask is that ye allow me the time to see to provisions on board the ‘Angel, as we are scheduled to sail within a fortnight. Once loaded and prepared to sail, making the time to see to the Mist Reiver, would certainly be in keeping with our agenda. As to payment, seems to me sir, that ye have had yer share of trouble as of the moment, consider the Archangel’s assistance as one fellow sailor extending a hand of friendship to another that be in need. Mayhaps some day ye will be just as willing to return a favor when required. If that appeals to ye, then Mr. March or Mr. Hazzards, my second lieutenant, will be the one ye wish to speak to. I will be unavailable for the next few days as I am…a… going to head inland for a bit more time with my new bride before I make the journey to London.”
  13. ^ most likely get bored... snigger < I bet your Gram has some pretty cool stories to tell V Famous person you wish you could meet
  14. Interesting slants. I've heard of and known couples that resemble that dynamic. I'm always amazed when it works. My wife and I are quite a lot alike in many ways ranging from social commentary to personal interests. When life gets the best of one,the other drives. We both have the ability to 'grab the reins' when need arises but never from each other. Wonderful. The 'opposite' relationships seem to spend a lot of energy(that could be placed...elsewhere)on 'fixing' the differences. Makes me tired just being around it. As long as it works, I guess. While every couple is different, me and the Far Better Half are pretty much opposite but we've really learned to make that work. We fill in each other's "blanks" so to speak. So far there is no project we have not been able to tackle together...
  15. VERY COOL site! Already saved to favs! And public speaking will be perfect, the kids all have to compete in a speech contest about famous Virginians.... you'd be surprised how many famous "rappers" come from Virginia....not!
  16. Good call. I'd say consistent is very important, in fact, more important than tough. I only say tough because from experience I know my two boys be will push the limits. Consistancy and fairness, is a habit with me. (You learn it fast when you have your own kids. ) The kids I work with notice double standards in a blink of an eye. What I mean by tough, is pretty much what we call tough love... they don't like it, but they understand it and once they believe you are truly concerned about them, they really start trying harder. I can't tell you how many report cards I had to "check out" a few weeks ago... because they now know, I give a damn. These kids can pick out a phoney a mile away. Most of them don't know who dad is, mom has a revolving door policy regarding boyfriends who don't know how to control their hands. If there is a consistent "parent figure" its Granny. They need their boundaries and they quickly learn to respect them and try harder.
  17. I work with urban/poverty kids and I can see what you were saying with insecurities and how people deal with them... I would be interested in knowing how to obtain your success concepts newsletter... these are good kids, just coming from dysfunctional backgrounds (most of them a good hug and consistent/fair discipline when needed, turns them around almost overnight) their upbringing has really, really done some serious damage to their self worth. If you can please pm or email with the info... every bit helps... thanks.
  18. ^ I love the dark, 'cept when trying to sew black on black < hate being ill V studies show volunteers live longer, how would you like to volunteer?
  19. ^ None < pj day at middle school, my daughter looks silly but she's happy V favorite good habit
  20. I certainly agree with the kids idea... only gets tougher as they grow, just balance the toughness with lots of love... bed? too early, opt for the rum...
  21. ^ Let's see have two of the Whydah cartridge box repros coming... I want four silver engraved Queen Anne's and a Snaphaunce revolver to go with them < Still trying to find the onion bottles and my little highwayman figure... I tried doing the detailed list thing whilst packing for our move, about half way through that went to pot... V What kind of pistol?
  22. Any body know anything about "taste buds?" Can you damage them enough so that overnight your taste for things actually changes drastically?
  23. You enter the realm of what motivates people to do one thing yet say another. I'm sure we've all done this at one time or another. Look inside yourself, see if you've ever done that, then ask yourself what your motive was. It might be similar to what motivates this person... or not. And just because someone preaches something yet does another thing, if they thing preached is valid, it is valid no matter what the motivation of the preacher. And... hell, everyone is human. Everyone makes mistakes. As for blasting someone, well... as Buckaroo Banzai said, "Hey, hey, hey. Don't be mean. We don't have to be mean because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are." (Gee, I've gotten to use that twice in as many days. Must be something going around.) Certainly been there done that, just not the blasting bit... I've blasted for other reasons but not because other folks aren't living up to my ideals... friends say I am harder on myself than on others, I hope that is true...
