  1. I really need it by Feb. 28th, it's our first outside event and it's still quite cold here in NC... I have seen your work and it is awesome! I just need it a little sooner to keep him warm for the events that are from now until april/may and october until Key West... In KW this year I had a velvet coat and wasn't quiet warm enough... I will keep you in mind in case he wants something heavy for our cold season and something light for our warmer weather. Hope all your pyratical efforts are going well! Cheers! Z Thank you so very much for the kind compliment, but Feb. 28th is just not going to fit into my schedule... perhaps some other time... I hope you can find someone who may be able to do the work for you by then... I could highly recommend Mickey Souris (michaelsbagley here at the pub). I am not certain of what his schedule is but he maybe able to accommodate you. Pm him when you can.
  2. I got a kick out of Zach... when I was out of kit, he was very shy, but as soon as I got into kit, he was like my best bud...all that shyness just went right out the window.
  3. If you don't need it until next Key West, pm me... I sew for the Archangel Crewe, we were down at Key West... perhaps you saw some of our kit.
  4. Aye as long as the waist still sits in the right place...If she pulls the waist up to cover more of the bust, then they are just too short
  5. I would bring the next pair up a bit...in this picture they look as if they are sitting too low on the bust
  6. Once again, it truly all boils down to how authentic do you wish to be?
  7. Glad I didn't sign anything....
  8. No offense taken... everyone is entitled to their own opinion....
  9. I beg to differ on this... do not trust your modern sewer's gut too much... as 18th century clothing construction can often be very different from how we sew today.... prime example the sleeves both on women's garments and men's, if done correctly for the time period, can often be troublesome to the average modern day sewer.
  10. I know what you are talking about and sometimes yes, it does work, but not always, so always make a mock first before cutting your good fabric
  11. thank ye for the hearty welcome Cap'n i detect you to be a man with many an answer sir, may i ask questions of you now & again? for no rules do i want to bend! GS Aye of course ye can, and I will try to give ye an honest answer.... just ignore the mistress... her answers are usually arse over teakettle... (Blink...Blink)...uncontrolable laughter coming from the Captain Sterling's Mistress. Like I said, Sir, like I said... uncontrolable Lill?
  12. That would be Norah Waugh's Cut of Men's Clothes... Janet Arnold's book covering late 17th/early 18th century only contains women's garments unfortunately. If you wish to be as accurate with yer pirate gear as you are with your ACW, steer clear of the Jack Sparrow pattern
  13. William, this is ALL yer fault.
  14. Yer only supposed to watch the speech and then hope for four years that maybe, just maybe they might accomplish something half way decent
  15. Damn I think I have some of those in the freezer...
  16. Damnation Bilge, ye could not wait until RF5 like the rest of us? A very happy birthday to ye and many, many more...
  17. Welcome to the pub and please, do give my regards to CJ as well... met him down at Beaufort last year.
  18. Welcome to the pub... pay no heed to Mistress McKinney... she be an actress what calls 'erself a "Lady" so obviously, 'ere, one can call themselves anything they want to. Cheers, 'ave a grand time of it.
  19. Welcome to the pub, perhaps we shall meet during the Long Island event...
  20. Glad to hear Dad is back in action!
  21. There is a thread here some where Mission either Lunacy or the Luna Project... there is a link in that to the site covering the new boat. ship's lines should be drawings of the boat
  22. The Luna is Dutchie's new toy... she will be a Bermuda Sloop and ready to sail in 2010... or so we hope.
  23. I still say hand sewing is the way to go, after all tis what they did. Those tabs were not designed with the thought of passing the garment through the average home sewing machine.. Now an industrial machine should give you more room to play, but still hand sewing allows you to shape and adjust the look of the tape and tab all the time, and no pins they just get in the way ....
  24. So HE says... Just another bit NO one can prove.
