  1. Well, I have an Irish accent meself. I like many accents. Aussie, English, Scottish, Irish, French.
  2. Welcome Maggie. Pricklebottom is an interesting name.
  3. You remind me of Michael Douglas.
  4. You mean Natasha Bedingfield? I think Madonna should just grow up. I had this discussion with my aunt, who is Madonna's age. She said that when you get older, you aren't that vain and superficial anymore. You don't need to be worshipped by other men anymore to feel good about yourself because, thanks to your experience in life, you're confident and know your worth. Then I saw Madonna's new video and realised, she's still as superficial as she was at 20. She didn't mature. She's dressing like a 15 year old and flirting with men half her age. Although I like her music, I think that's kinda sad. Age in style, Madonna!
  5. I like Madonna's new songs. Reminds me of disco stuff like Saturday Night Fever, which I liked. Kelly Clarkson is very popular here too. You can win a meet and greet and Because of You was number 1. Don't like the bimbo bunch as you call them. Britney just isn't cool anymore (thanks to that K-Fed up loser she married). Not that I was ever a fan. She's not last week, but last decade. Jessica is a good singer, but she lacks personality (unless you call her lack of intelligence her personality). I like Pink and Nelly Furtado. Pink has got a very good voice and her songs are good. Like her videos too. Never heard of Brenda K. Starr. Celtic Woman tour? Doesn't really ring a bell. Who are part of that group?
  6. I read about the Grammy winners. I'm glad U2 did well. It's a great band. I love their music. It's timeless. Green Day is good too. What do you think of female artists like Mariah Carey?
  7. It is interesting to read posts by both ''sides''. I think many take it too seriously. It's just a coat. Let those who like the look of it talk about it and enjoy it. Even if it isn't historically accurate, it's a beautiful coat and to most, that's all that matters. Just because you buy a pirate coat doesn't mean you're going to wear it to a festival or whatever. Some just wear it in normal life. If you buy a costume for a festival, it's different. It has to look authentic. Yet I have seen many re-enactors look absolutely ridiculous (Romans using fabrics that weren't accurate and looked fake, etc). The audience often knows nothing of history. As a Napoleonic re-enactor, I have been approached several times by people telling their kids: "Look, it's people from the medieval period!" Or: ''Servants!'' Considering we are civilians (and rich ones at that), it's shocking people are so ignorant of these things. It is difficult to define what is a good and accurate pirate coat. As said, pirates existed for quite a while and all around the world. I'm pretty sure they all had their own style. I like the fact that re-enactors too have their own style. It would be boring if we all looked the same. As long as there aren't people out there wearing sneekers, I won't complain. The Victorian period might not be a typical pirate period, but that's their loss, I'd say. Wouldn't they look great if they wore coats like the ones sold by Kristi Smart? Anyway, those who complain about the coats not being historically accurate have a right to voice their opinion and ''educate'' us. But they should also realise that in the end, all that matters is whether we like the coat or not. It's our choice to buy it or not. I do think it's best not to wear it to an event, but it's not fair to lecture people or mention deleting the thread just because it doesn't appeal to you. I don't like the typical pirate look. I admit that. I might not look historically accurate, but I'm having a blast. Having fun is the most important thing. At home anyway. Not everyone likes the pirate stuff you ''historians'' consider accurate. So what? Let us do our thing and we'll let you do yours. By the way, Pirates Cave don't sell coats on E-bay. The website of the seller was listed in the about me section: kristismart.com. We don't even own Kristi's coats so we sure wouldn't be able to sell them. But we Europeans do rule.
  8. No one talks about the Grammy's over here. I wouldn't even know who's nominated. The show isn't aired here either. Too bad. I like award shows. They're entertaining. I especially enjoy the red carpet bit. Some stars wear beautiful gowns. And some look ridiculous, which is even more entertaining. I've never been to America, but I'll go there on holiday sometime. I'm pretty sure NYC will scare the hell out of me. It's big and loud and crowded. But I'd like to go shopping there.
  9. This sounds like an interesting show. Good luck with that.
  10. It should be interesting to see who gets the Oscar. Many good films and actors are nominated. I think Reese'll win Best Actress. And I'm fine with that. As long as Keira Knightley doesn't win, I'm happy. You know I don't like her. I hope Heath Ledger wins Best Actor but I think what's his name'll get it for Capote. I haven't seen the film. Isn't out yet here even. I sometimes think I live in the middle of nowhere.
  11. Some kid actors are successful, like Drew Barrymore. But most fade away like you said. It's a pity. They're talented. What do you think of the Oscar nominations?
  12. I consider myself a re-enactor. Of the Napoleonic period.
