  1. Ahoy! A friend of mine at Mark Burnett Productions asked me to pass on more info: "CBS and Mark Burnett Productions are currently casting a reality show which gives people the opportunity to be Pirates for a month while competing for prizes and cash! The casting director is searching for outgoing, strong-willed adventure seekers who are physically and mentally adept and adaptable to new environments. They also look for people with interesting lifestyles, jobs, backgrounds, histories and personalities. Everyone who applies should be ready to have the time of their lives! If you are interested in applying, you should be completely comfortable living on land and sea, as you will most likely be living on a combination of a boat and an island in a remote location for about 30 days. While on the adventure, you will be competing for a pot of up to $1 million dollars along with other booty and prizes! Anyone interested must be at least 21 years old and be a US citizen eligible for a US passport. If you are interested in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, please send an e-mail with some basic information about yourself (such as name, age, occupation, hometown, etc) to piratescasting@hotmail.com . Please be sure to mention you were referred by Captain Sage and Pyracy.com. With the referral, you will be able to apply directly to the Casting Director rather than blindly sending in a tape and application to CBS. This project is very time-sensitive and applications are due very quickly. If you are interested, don't hesitate in contacting piratescasting@hotmail.com as soon as possible. Remember, they are looking for people with great water skills and big personalities. Anybody who can sail, fish, row, or swim has an advantage in this competition. If you know somebody else who would be great, please feel free to pass this on to them. "

  3. gutenberg.org has tons of public domain works. You can find some older piratey things if you know how to look. There is one called The Pirates Own Book, by Charles Ellms, that I like a lot. It was first published in 1837. Yes I know, it isn't as old as Johnson's or Esquemeling's, but it does seem to have a lot of good details. Here's the link: http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/12216 Happy Reading!
  4. Lemme see... I was lookin' for good piratey sites when I was developin' me own. I thot these were my kinda' pyrates. I've had many a laugh and learned a heap, too. Huzzah!
  5. I found this article a while back and was baffled by the last illustration. It's an unusual gun-like thing. The project directors may not have asked around to research the matter too much. I have to explain the way the site is made first. It's a Geocities site made with Flash (dumb!), so the text is really a graphic (not searchable). You also have to navigate to the page in question. When you click on the link, choose Artifacts, click the animated arrow at the bottom of the page, and go to the bottom of that second page. What are your thoughts on this thing? http://www.geocities.com/aborgcr/PRoyal/proyal.html
  6. Hey mates, I'm a bit crazy around the edges, as you can see by this post. I recently made a fansite for Blenheim Ginger Ale (ever heard of it?). I know the tendency of pirates toward strong drink, so to promote my new venture, I managed to get my friend Blackbeard to do a promo of sorts: Better than Rum and Gunpowder.
  7. I once spoke to Ronald Reagan on the phone. (He had left the presidency by then.) He wanted to speak to a friend of mine whose dad was on a leadership council with him. My friend was not available, so he said, "Well, just tell him Ronnie called."
  8. My, but aren't those stop action figures realistic! I loved it. I laughed 7.2 times. Let's have a vote. Should we send it to SCA? They'd love it, too, right?
  9. Lads and lasses, this is required watchin' material. I have a letter from the king of pirates 'isself that says, "thems wot miss this flick will suffer the humdai..." What?! That's the wrong genre. Who wrote this crap? Seriously, mates, catch this if you can. Woo-Hoo!!!
  10. Ahoy mates, Go to Songs of the Sea at contemplator.com, and you can listen to a horde of shanties and other stuff.
  11. Separate injuries several years apart left me with a scar on my cheek in the shape of a cross.
  12. Well, let's see, I guess wit' my piratey websites and such and my enthusiasm for piratical history, and my pirate tee's, and repro coins and piratey books, and my Swag Shop, I'm at least 3/4 full of myself most days. PS- It's only 123 days (on 3/5) until POTC II
  13. I second the motion for second chioces! How about an entertaining educator or an educating entertainer?
  14. Hm, to wax philosofeecal.... I have always liked treasure hunting, cannons, explosions, the sea, nautical history, underwater exploration and archeology, a sense of adventure, piratey talk,... and besides, turnin' pirate was far cheaper than an education to be a lawyer! :)
  15. A kind thankee to Jim Sib! I like Pirates! Fact and Legend at: http://www.piratesinfo.com/
