  1. Okay, good...then it would take some serious effort to get lost, which I dont' think I'll bother with...getting lost would not be a wise use of my time.
  2. Cool, thanks! I'll probably come for just an afternoon, 'cause I got school. And I'll be takin' the bus anyway. Provided I don't get baffled by the transportation system in Portland, which I shouldn't 'cause I take the bus all the time in Seattle. Just is a different city.
  3. OOh, I might be able to stop by for one evening or summing! I'll send an email once I figure out if I have any way of getting there, I'm not even IN Portland right now, won't be for a little over a week, but hey, sounds fun. And pirate-y! -Suliel
  4. I like the handpuppet one. Was funny, even if they did get some plot order wrong. But that's okay in parody, right, eh?
  5. Mine's a picture of the Adventuress (my first love :)) that I took from a website somewhere...so yes, stolen. Am looking for something better...I'd use the MacCiain clan crest--black ship, raven and sword on yellow--but then I'd likely get in a spot of trouble for that...
  6. OOh, they look cool! I like that sort of music...must find it somewhere! Thanks!
  7. Ooh, I got 6 wrong. That's bad that is, especially having seen the movie 3 times! Then, I barely even know about the ride, and I 'aven't stayed to the end of the credits yet (must do that!). Still pretty bad, eh? But that's all right, I've got half the thing memorized anyway
  8. Cap'n Roberts...even that one scares me! Am returning to my lovely "non-existant" ship now. She exists, just in the imaginations of me and a bunch of my friends. *retreats to the the "Nal," pirate ship of...not so much fame*
  9. I'll start saving now! Thanks! See ya there!
  10. Sounds like all good advice, so thanks since I'm considering a tattoo me own self. I like the idea of a Celtic-ish mermaid, also want a crow feather and an Elvish nine, because I'm just that nerdy. Will stick to black for all of it though, and probably pretty simple...I dunno how much pain I can take, really
  11. Well this is interestin'! I've been wondering about the origins of the song for some time myself. I always though the "dead man's chest" was simply in reference to a coffin, didn't know there was an island called that! I figured the fifteen "men" were the iron nails. Though aren't there traditionally 16 nails? Or maybe there's less. I don't know. Marooning mutineers on an island? Hmm...I'm going to have to go back through the whole song to see if that fits, now. Iiiiinteresting.
  12. Okay, a new pirate musical would just be bloody FRIGHTENING. I would have to run and hide in the hold of my non-existant ship with my hands clamped over my ears until it went away. ::meeble::
  13. Gypsy and Flamenco go amazingly well with fight scenes, I've found. I think we might end up with some Flamenco or something for the major fight at the end of the film I'm working on now. (I'm playing the main character, which leads to me complaining bitterly about my face having to be on camera all the time!) My opponent in the final fight is a 500 yr. old pirate though. He's really cool. He's the one I want to make a pirate movie about.
  14. Every year, lady!! I'm goin next year too, gods permitting!!! THat was GREAT!!! WOOHOO! I'll do me best to make it! Hmm...that'll be...train tickets? Car? Something. . .but I'll get there. And I'll buy a cutlass! That sounds really nice. If I may ask, what were the prices like on the cutlasses? Just so I knows how much to save for the faire!
  15. *snerk* and that is all i have to say on the matter. . .except that maybe i'll think up a good pirate joke one of these days. . .
  16. ooh, cutlasses sound really nice! think it'll be happenin' again next year? perhaps by then i could get down there...heh...
  17. Hey, I'm reading treasure island too! I love that book. THis is my first time through, admittedly...heh... And I'm in either my basement or my friend's. We're reading it outloud. IS a good book for that. Also got Guns, Germs and Steel, and Hamlet. They could've had more with the pirates in Hamlet! IN fact, maybe he coulda written the whole bloody thing about the pirates and forgotten the prince of denmark altogether...
  18. Bagpipes then? No, no, I wouldn't do that! Not really, I don't think. Irish/Scottish music doesn't have to be...um...like the nice, happy cheerful harp music I have on right now! (not that you'd know what i'm listening to but oh well) I have/know a bunch of music that would fit really well. Metallica wouldn't be bad either, I don't think. I really like the band Flogging Molly, I'd have to have at least one of their songs in too.
  19. Well, I certainly want to go! Don't have a way to get there though. Anyone else coming from Seattle that I might be able to get a ride with? (Not likely, but thought I'd ask anyway...heh...oh well...) Looks really fun, and I finally have proper attire, too. Waha!
  20. Oh, blast, not in Oregon this weekend, otherwise I really would be at that Gypsy Days and Sea Dog Nights. Not back to Portland for another month though. Sounds really fun though! Perhaps I can make it up to the Gig Harbor thing though.
  21. Well for starters I would want Oded Fehr in the cast! Not the lead though. And the captain would be Dead. Not dead like six feet under (or alternately ten fathoms deep on the road to hell. . .) but Dead like Undead. See, POTC stole our pirate movie plot! (see? THey really are pirates) Of course, it would just be the Captain, not the whole crew. And no, he can restrain himself and not eat the crew. And he's not a rotting corpse most of the way to skeleton, either! There'd be no romance, because a. it would ruin the movie and b. it wouldn't fit our good ol' Cap'n's character. The whole point would be about, as we like to say, "buggering the English." Yes. Dead Scottish Pirate with an Anti-Imperialist Agenda. Indeed. And I dont' think we'd gloss over the sort of violence that happens. It would be pretty gruesome. Realism. Realism good. Music would be lots of Celtic/Scottish stuff. It works really well with water anyway, I think. I hope the good dead captain doesn't kill me for even saying any of this, of course!
  22. Well, my first love...er, ship, was the Adventuress. Was about 6 years ago I spent two days sailing from Edmonds to Port Townsend, which was brilliantly fun. Especially getting up at 4am for the last dogwatch...best watch, got to see the sun rising...anyway, that was my first real sailing experience... Have yet to make it to the Lady Washington, though I would love to be at least part of the volunteer crew sometime, she's such a beautiful boat! Other than that, all my sailing's been on much smaller vessels...a byte and some capris, and hopefully we get to take out the alpha tomorrow. I miss having a jib, and am looking forward to sailing with one in decent wind, unlike all those days on the river where we couldn't go anywhere...that was pretty sad! But we usually fly our Jolly Roger out on the byte. Oh, and those were some lovely pictures of the Royaliste! I want to meet that boat someday!
  23. OOOh, BOAT! Where's she located now? I'd be interested for sure! Sounds sooo beautiful...
  24. What? Sailing? On a tall ship? Where are you again? Well, happy birthday, though I be a bit late to say it...
  25. I guess I really am a wench at the moment, all dressed in my Ren Faire costume (needed to make sure it worked a'fore the faire!) Okay, I guess I am a wench...:) I play with swords too! They're fun! Tasia--what sort of swords do you usually use? I'm learning rapier myself, and I'd like to learn some others. And I have a cutlass.
