    Boots

Shot of my boots. The weathering looks a lot more harsh in this image than it does in person.

Shots of my costume, several were taken at Disney World's Magic Kingdom during their annual Halloween event.

    Buckle

    From the album: Tuerie's Wardrobe

I decided to swap out my plain round baldric buckle with something a little more ornate. Finding a buckle that fit was a bit of a chore. I decided on using a cheapo replica of Jack Sparrow's "Anna Marie" styled buckle I found on ebay. I gave it a patina to make it stand out and look a little more realistic.

Here's a picture of my full garrrb. The coat I got for a steal on ebay - it dates back to the late 1800's and was used at several opera houses. It has a lot of natural wear and tear, plus plenty of sun damage - perfect for a pirate.

    Makeup

Closeup of my makeup. Trying to get that sun-baked and wind burnt look. I used a skin illustrator palate to accomplish this look.

I love how this turned out. I see far too many tricorns and wanted to be a little different. Inspired by Captain Teague's hat.

    Garrrb

Part of my costume. The shirt and baldric are museum replica reenactor wear. I've since replace the buckle with a more ornate one. The weskit is a converted women's dress jacket I found at a thrift store. I took of the sleeves did some resewing/shaping to the lapels. The belt buckle is a fantastic Captain Teague buckle I purchased from ebay. Everything was heavily weathered.

Another shot from Disney World. I had such a blast dressing in costume to the park!

Here's a shot of me in the ride that started my obsession with these salty scaliwags - Pirates of the Caribbean.

  14. Thanks!!! I need to get a better shot with my actual boots. I opted for some leather spats/ modern ankle boots while at the park. Disney is strict about costumes, however in October the Magic Kingdom has a special "Mickey's Not So Scary, Halloween" event. The Magic KIngdom is open in the evening to Midnight. Guests that purchase these tickets can dress in costume. It was a really enjoyable experience, many of the park workers really loved the costume.
  15. I was fortunate enough to visit Disney World this past October. Here's a shot of me at the entrance of the Swiss Family Robinson's tree house. I didn't wear my coat, bucket boots, or hat do to a lack of suitcase space and the Florida heat. Here's a picture of my full garrrb. The coat I got for a steal on ebay - it dates back to the late 1800's and was used at several opera houses. It has a lot of natural wear and tear, plus plenty of sun damage - perfect for a pirate.
  16. Ahoy! I'm an avid costumer and aspiring special fx artist. I've dressed as many characters in the past, but this has been my first foray into pirate costuming. I've always loved the romanticized ways these criminals of the high seas have been portrayed in film and literature. Movies like Treasure Island and Peter Pan (I always rooted for Captain Hook) shaped my imagination and were some of my favorites in my youth. I plan to share images of my costume, and learn some tips to improve it along the way. So a rousing hello to all you buccaneers out there!!!
