  1. I haven't been able to go to work for the bast 2 days because the bus system isn't running right now due to 23inch of snow over night. Some freak snow storm. Ugh I hate it, sure sledding is fun and all but it would be nice to drive places. Oh and if that isn't the worst, I paid $40 for chains and lost one of them ;)

  2. Well I'm the kind'a person who is very anal about looks. Like polyesters, silks and some cottons I freak out over. If it doesn't look real I flip out.

I was thinking about putting some money into a sewing machine, they come with instructions right? Maybe my mother has one I could use or pawn her off into sewing for me.

I tried looking for patterns at the store but to me it was like looking for a needle in a hay stack and when I asked the clerk she gave me a weird look and kept pulling out modern patterns

I kept looking online for sewing patterns but cant find anything period and figured people here would know best. I'll keep looking on my own and checking back here to answer questions!

Thanks again for the help, I'm very greatful.

  3. Hey all, so here is the deal. I'm in a bit of a financial bind and after totaling up the garb I want from online stores I almost spilled my drink. So I figured it would be better to make it myself. My only problem is, I don't really no how to sew or how cloths are put together. I have a general idea after being in homeic but that was years ago.

If I could get some pointers on making a Jerkin and Pants to fit the time period that would be much obliged. Or even patterns, I've looked, but I guess not in the right places.

This is the time of Jerkin I'm looking for (found online for $95) I would like it long with maybe pockets on the bottom but must have buttons up the middle.

I'm thinking the Jerkin needs to be in three parts, two for the front and one for the back

I can't find pictures of the pants I want. If you've ever seen the Blackbeard movie they did on Discovery chan. NOT the one where he wore that dumb vest with no shirt, but the other short one. His first mate Mr. Hands had the kind'a pants I'm looking for. Almost a dark tan color that stop about mid calf, not tight but kind of bigger like pantaloons. Oh I kinda found a picture

Look between BlackBeards left armpit and you'll see Mr. Hands and the pants he has on, I want them like that.

    Pants must be in....two parts?or three?or four???

thanks for the help, that's all the help I need on, the rest i have figured out. Thanks for anything you can offer

  4. You mean that show CBS cancelled without even concluding it because the ratings sucked?

I believe it was the first reality show ever to have that dubious honor... :)

    -- Hurricane

    Actually they concluded the series.

They just did it on the web.

uh. . . because the ratings sucked.

I'm sure it had a lot to do with one of the contestants committing suicide after being voted off. Being voted off wasn't the reason, the reason people say was because he husband pasted away and she couldn't live with that anymore.

  5. So to enjoy the summer I'm spending most of my time on the lake. Since I don't know how to swim I bought a raft that I float in to enjoy the waves, the water, the laziness. My buddy and I go to the lake with our tricorns on, i guess pirate garb on the water is a big hit and makes people smile.

So do you have any stories of you on a normal day in your garb out on the water and what were peoples reactions!?

  6. The Olympics this year have a weird vibe, from the Chinese ordering the mentally and physically handicap to stay off the streets so they won't be filmed, to the murder of that volley ball couches father to the poor Hungarian weightlifter who inverted his right elbow.

    To me, it's just weird

  7. Hey all, so I sit at my desk at work for 8 hours a day and listening to music for that long gets a little old. I noticed the guy across from me was listening to some audio books and I thought this would be a great idea!

My only problem is, I'm trying to save money and I don't wanna spend it on audio books.

Just wondering if anyone out there knows of any free pirate audio books for download? I've been searching google but haven't found anything yet. Figured this would cover more ground and I might get other people interested!

  8. Some franchises just don’t know when to quit. Whether or not people are getting sick and tired of the whole Pirates of the Caribbean thing, when a franchise makes that much money, it’s hard to let it die. We’ve been hearing rumblings about a possible fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie for months now, but tonight I got an email from the old friend of the site which not only confirmed a fourth movie will almost certainly be happening, but dropped details on where the series may end up going when it continues.

Our source says that Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is no longer just a possibility, it’s almost a certainty. More importantly, Johnny Depp is all but assured to return, though our scooper claims he may end up making as much as $35 - $40 million to do it. Also returning will be Geoffrey Rush and Gore Verbinski as director, but forget about the rest of the cast because from now on the movies will only be about Captain Jack.

That’s right, Pirates 4 will cast aside Will and Elizabeth to make it an all Jack Sparrow movie. That won’t be the only change Disney is planning to make when the series continues though. Our scooper says, “the ending of Pirates 3, the fountain of youth story might not be the only story they might used the next pirate’s film. The fountain story could used in another form to introduce the story for Pirates 4… the next film might be a departure from the same formula of the last three movies as well, meaning that Jerry Bruckheimer could be planning to enter the realm of Science Fiction this time around and it could be the heart of a new trilogy with Jack Sparrow and his crew of misfits. Some of the brainstorming going around involves some Jules Verne type of scenarios involving some pretty big flying machines, a man who wants to rule more than just the ocean, a encounter with the most famous and dangerous pirate of all, a race to get to a lost world (Hint, Hint) and Jack and his crew going to where no pirate has gone before (No, its not space but Disney had made animated movie about this place before with Michel J Fox voicing one of the characters).”

Pirates science fiction? What the heck? The Michael J. Fox movie our source is referring to is almost certainly Atlantis, which would tie in the Jules Verne and science fiction elements mentioned. Apparently we’ll also get more of Jack’s past and his family, which could also mean more Keith Richards. I’d actually be ok with that, Keith was surprisingly good.

Don’t get too attached to the idea of another Pirates of the Caribbean sequel though. Our insider thinks that Disney plans to take a long, long breather between Pirates movies: “word is that the start date could be around 2009 to 2011.” I don’t think we need another Pirates sequel, but if they’re going to do one, giving the franchise time to recharge is probably a very good idea.

As always, consider everything above as nothing but rumor till something more develops. Our source is a proven one, but if we can’t give you our source, then consider anything we tell you as unconfirmed gossip.

  9. (please move this post if needed)

Sorry I've been MIA for god only knows how long. I'm 22 years old so I've been trying to live it up the best I can. Got addicted to a few online games, kicked that habit out the door and now just trying to enjoy the outdoors and life.

So the past few weeks my best buddy of mine who I've known since high school, a real good guy, like the brother I never had, hell I've even saved his life, twice. Anyway, him and I were sitting around talking about the prices of things and how crazy gas is getting. How we don't enjoy our jobs or the city we live in and really just having one of those drunken talks but haven't been drinking kind of talks if you know what I mean and well we realized we are very young and the world is there for the taking.

You can do anything if you put your mind to it. I grew up with very little and I can appreciate the things I have and I don't need much to be happy. Same as him, he lives in a small apt with not much either, we're pretty much in the same boat. I even thought about joining the army a few years back just because I really didn't know what to do. Life is crazy like that sometimes I guess.

BUT ANYWAY this is what we are planning on for hopes for next year, next summer. We both love the ocean, it puts us at a calm, a since of peace. We both love music and love to play music. So we figure why not live out our dream of being "pirates." More less meaning, do what we want for the most part, go to work when we want and live where we want.

    <<<<<<<POINT OF THE STORY>>>>>>>>

Sorry, him and I are planning on buying a sailboat next year, maybe a 28footer or if we can afford it something bigger and nicer. A liveaboard boat and we are going to live on that and sail up and down the Washington Puget Sound until we get good at sailing and who knows, the world is our oyster. Maybe go down to Cali for the winter or Hawaii. For food we will fish, go to food banks, maybe even get donations. We were even thinking about pitching the idea to T.V. networks for a reality show. For extra cash we'll go ashore and do musical street performances and if need be we'll dock and work normal jobs but the idea is to be free like pirates, go where we want with out being held back by rent, electric bills, gas stuff like that. We'll be having the time of our life's living out our dream. We are young, no need to settle down now.

Before the year is up we are going to be attending a sailing school, learning our musical instruments and saving cash for the boat. I just wanted to share that with you all, I'm really excited.

    I'll keep you posted! ;)

  10. ^ Never really been to a party, I know huh, lame. Oh well

< Excited about the big plan for next year. Living on a sailboat will be a dream come true
