After wrestling with our tech support for the last several months, I've decided to move the Pub to a new web hosting service. That means the Pub may go offline for a bit, or see some hick-ups in service.

Hold please.... It looks like I'm wrong, or that things haven't been updated on the server end properly - currently wrestling with tech support.
-
Though it may be another 2 - 48 hours to fully propagate, it looks like we've been successfully migrated to new servers! Let me know if you have any issues/problems.

Ahoy Shipmates, let's hold off making any new posts to the Pub for a day or two - the site is being migrated to new servers.

😆 Yeah, recently I find myself wanting to forget too! A few weeks ago I helped brewed 15 gallons of Brown Ale with @Charlie while flipping through the present @Halfpint sent me during the Xmas exchange, "18th & Early 19th-Century Brewing".

Alright, everybody hold on to you butts - I just gave our hosting service permission to migrate us to new servers. Hopefully this will happen for us without a hitch. If you have any issues, please post them here.

Though this booklet has some great museum examples, the title is misleading. Other than citing a vague example from the 1500s, it doesn't really talk about or show examples earlier than 1600s or later than the early 1800s. For more information, the YouTube channel Gold & Gunpowder has an episode on Blunderbuss history. It cites some of the earliest European (handheld) firearms, late 1400s, the Hailshot and Espigole that more closely resemble and likely modeled after the early Chinese Huoqiang or Fire Lance and Hand Cannons of the 900s and 1200s, basically a small cannon barrels attached to a stock, held and lit by hand.

Three cheers for @madPete Pyracy Pub's Event Meister! Hip-hip...

Very cool, they're a lot easier to transport too. The ones I made are pretty bulky - the plan is to bring them to the Fort King George event and either give them away or leave them there in storage...except for the one I need.

@Patrick Hand this looks great! It's been more than a decade since I dabbled around in 3D, but I assume it's all pretty much the same - polygons, verts, edges, quads and triangles. I don't own a 3D printer (currently), but I've got a friend just south of me in Ashland that does. My (30+ year old) kids have been lobbying me to get one to make them stuff. My nephew, @James Tudor has one that he's used it to make Star Wars helmets and RC plane and car parts. I believe @blackjohn also has one that he uses for D&D campaigns and I think I saw one the last time I was visiting @michaelsbagley - maybe.
-
I'm also paging through this one last time before handing it off to @Braze - it was originally given to me by Arthur @Cascabel years ago.

@Ransom!!!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I've heard of sailors having wool work shirts, but I never thought of those shirts being knit sweater/shirts. The example looks too bulky to work and climb rigging in - though that would have been comfortable at our December Fort King George event.

Excellent Impression!
