Great Lakes Medieval Faire in Geneva, OH.

If you have a Claire's in your mall...as odd as it sounds check there....and Hot Topic is awesome for that kind of thing too. My husband found some clip hoops from Claire's that are awesome and don't look clip at all....but they would need to be modified to add a skull.

Never thought I'd see THIS sold by Disney...
Katerine_La_Rose_Noire replied to Bilgemunky's topic in Thieves Market
Yes, but only Disney would charge $129 for a noose to go around your neck. And yes I thought it was a diaper pin too! -

I would like to buy this for my husband as an addition to his garb...but where would I find a holder or some way of carrying it beyond sticking it in his sash? TIA~ Kat

The wee pirate in our crew just picked a pair of these up for $30 (roughly) and they made a great addition to her garb for the cost. They are from Payless and come in a tan as well. Just thought I'd share :) Kat

Earrings for Non-Pierced Ears?
Katerine_La_Rose_Noire replied to Mick MacAnselan's topic in Thieves Market
I know ye prefer online, but my husband found his at Claire's/Icing a few years back when we were down at the Ohio Ren Fest, but I'm sure all of them have them. They aren't magnetic, but rather a spring that moves the piece back to tighten it on the ear. They had several styles like this but the husband went with various size hoops. G'luck in ye search~ Kat -
Me & me crew be setting sail for the Michigan Ren Fest this year. Wonderin' if any of you have been or will be setting sail thar' this year. Any Festival sponsored by Guinness has to be worth the drive!

What be better than a Parrot Joke...an old favorite: So there's this fella with a parrot. And this parrot swears like a sailor - I mean he's a pistol. He can swear for 5 minutes straight without repeating himself. Trouble is, the guy who owns him is a quiet, conservative type, and this bird's fowl mouth is driving him crazy. One day, it gets to be too much, so the guy grabs the bird by the throat, shakes him really hard, and yells, "QUIT IT!". But this just makes the bird mad and he swears more than ever. Then the guy gets mad and says, "OK for you!" and locks the bird in a kitchen cabinet. This really aggravates the bird and he claws and scratches, and when the guy finally lets him out, the bird cuts loose with a stream of invective that would make a veteran sailor blush. At that point, the guy is so mad that he throws the bird into the freezer. For the first few seconds there is a terrible din. The bird kicks and claws and thrashes. Then it suddenly gets_very_quiet. At first the guy just waits, but then he starts to think that the bird may be hurt. After a couple of minutes of silence, he's so worried that he opens up the freezer door. The bird calmly climbs onto the man's out-stretched arm and says, "Awfully sorry about the trouble I gave you. I'll do my best to improve my vocabulary from now on.". The man is astounded. He can't understand the transformation that has come over the parrot. Then the parrot says, "By the way, pardon me for asking, but what did the chicken do?".

Good Bodice...where'd you find it?
Katerine_La_Rose_Noire replied to Katerine_La_Rose_Noire's topic in Thieves Market
RumbaRue, while I don't find the bodies totally uncomfortable...they wouldn't be something I'd sleep in, so I wonder what they are wearin' em for at night GoF thank thee much for the working link...checking it out right now! -
Good Bodice...where'd you find it?
Katerine_La_Rose_Noire replied to Katerine_La_Rose_Noire's topic in Thieves Market
Thank thee for the links to the other threads of interest! (Having some problems locating the well dressed wench) As for anything else about the piece as long as I could find I good fit I wouldn't care! The rest of my garb is primarily black, white, red linen/cotton with no print...so I'm not too fussy...I'll work it in if I find a good piece. As for the questions concerning what the good Lord hasth blessed me with Though I am wonderin' why there be more trouser wearnin folk answerin this thread than the actual bodice wearers! -
I'm in need of a good bodice. I have one and a corset type thing and not real happy with either. The Good Lord has blessed me and I'd like something that holds and is yet somewhat comfortable. TIA~ Kat

Needin' Pint Size Plunder
Katerine_La_Rose_Noire replied to Katerine_La_Rose_Noire's topic in Thieves Market
Ohhhhhh never thought of a draw string skirt...I'm pretty sure I could pull that off. Maybe when they let me off my ball and chain for that hour a day I could run to the fabric store. Thanks for the input! -
Aye, I call port due south of Akron, OH. We usually sail to the Great Lakes Medieval Faire, Pitt Renaissance Faire, and Ohio Renaissance Festival if the seas allow.

I have a female child size 12 pyrate that be needin' some garb for faires etc. She is aware the cost of her father & I's costumes and knowing this has asked this be be her ONLY Bday present. How can I say no when the kid only asks for one thing? I would love to put it together for around $100 since in 2 years I doubt she'll fit in it. Any suggestions on where I might start lookin? Or any SIMPLE patterns; I can use a needle and thread meself at a VERY basic level and thought I might do her skirt, but there is no way I can do much more than that. Thank thee in advance~ Kat

The youngest of me crew has asked for 1 thing for her Bday....Pirate Garb to wear to the faires. How do you not get em the ONLY thing they ask for? So here I am seekin' ye advice on where I should be lookin'. She be 10 (soon 11) and a size 10/12. I don't want to spend too many coin, as she'll just be grown' again. Thank Thee Mates~ Kat
