    I have to agree with Rumba. I've been a member of quite a few forums and whatnot, especially when I was younger (hehe, like how I talk like I'm 83 as opposed to 23?) and I have to say that there is much less of the usual nasty drival here then what goes on in other places. The pub is pretty clean by most standards, and I haven't run into a lot of the crap I did when I was a member of an amature fantasy writing/artwork site. It was redicilous the amount of 13 year old brats that would post just to get their jollies by insulting work people have put hours into. This is actually the longest I've gone posting on a board for a few years for just that reason, and I have to say that I quite like it here. And we will run across the few wee pirates who are actually curious and enthusiastic about piracy in all it's forms, and figure the best place to start is to talk to people like us (or rather yall, since I'm still learning myself). As for the trolls, well, they'll either dissapear or get used to being ignored or run through. Pyrates have little use for nonsense.

    Help for a budding writer

    hey guys!!

    Sorry I dissapeared for so long, but I was on vacation back home in colorado and didn't have access to a computer. Thanks again for all the help, and believe it or not I'm inadvertently getting help with my writing from my yoga philosophy professor who used to be an english professor! We do journal enteries ever week and shes letting me know where my weak points are in my mechanics. Unfortunately I think I bit off more than I can chew with the fulltimeschool/full time work thing, and haven't gotten very far on any of my writing, either the short story or the worldbuilding for the book I wanna write. I told olaf that hopefully I'll have something next week since I'm camping this weekend and should have some writing time.

    I'll be looking into the books (and the internet^_^) ASAP. Siren--I took a quick look at that site..seems right up my alley. I used to say I wanted to be the next tolkien, now I say I want to be the first Christin...err, Marona^_~. And don't worry, I might not have much time to dedicate to it now but I'll NEVER give up! :P

    okay so heres the deal:

    I've been reading anything I could get my hands on since I was old enough, and writing for just about as long. I've been told by many people I'm rather good at it and I would love to become a publish writer some day. My problem is mechanics, which any normal writer already has ingrained in their mind. Unfortunately it was discovered when I was already an adult that I suffer from both ADD and mild dyslexia, making the learning process for me a bit harder, as concepts that come easier to others don't as much to me. My college told me that I should just shell out more money for these remedial english classes, which I can neither afford nor fit into my schedule that already includes bother fulltime work and full time school.

    Does anyone have any suggestions for what I might be able to do, such as home tutorials or similar things?

    wow, thats probably the single most disgusting thing I've heard of someone doing at a FAMILY oriented celebration. Don't let ME see the SOB, I haven't given a good old fasion asswhoopin' in a while, and I can't think of anyone more due for one than that. :ph34r:

    BTW: Does ANYONE know who has the picture of me and that yummy long-haired corsair??? I really really really want a copy:-( not to mention I also need copies of all the other pictures. I wanna make a scrapbook.

    So, here is the offical word on the encampment, for those interested.

    Regarding encampment for Pyrate weekend at the KOA campground near faire -  Saturday night:

    Some folks will be at MDRF both days, some may just visit the camp, some may stay at the camp and go home the next day.  Me thinks personally, I will set up after faireand go to faire w/ supplies and coolers and hot dogs packed

    So........ For all interested in the Pyrates weekend encampment, KOA is going to have a group set up under "pyracy pub".

    When making your reservation mention the group name to get ajoining campsites. a tent camp site is $34 for the night $3 for each additional child, and $5 for each additional adult. if you want to call and make reservations the number is (410) 923-2771

    The base $34 covers two people.

    Note:  For those with kinder pirates, please be aware that this will be a LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS group, with R-rated conversations and actions, so please use your best discretion.

    And a special THANK YOU TO QUEENROGUE for setting this up, and I think many of us owe her several rounds of ale!  huzzah!!!!  :lol:

    Speaking of which, I laced that new corset laterally in the back since I was too sick to pay attention and bought it too big (oh well, I have to do halloween parties for my kids on my property, and they don't need to see that quite yet). I'm lucky I can see over those suckers!!! :lol:

    I have a blast too,I'm counting to days till pirate weekend.....A had fun with my little girl Carmen. i should have the pics up soon.

    It is just going to be daddy on pirate week end..

    OMG!! Crimson, your daughter is the most adorable well-behaved *tiny* children I have ever met!! I can't WAIT until Kristy gets her pictures developed! :)

    BTW - a random side note: the song "What do You do With a Drunken Salior" has that line "Put him in the bed with the Captians daughter" is actually a corruption of "give him a taste of the Captians daughter" the "Captian Daugher" being the cat -o-nine tails!!

    Hehehe, I agree!! I can't wait until Pirate invasion weekend!! Of course next weekends get together should be fun! Poor Blender's house is goint to be busting at the seams!! :lol:

    Yeah, the heat was not fun, esp. after the crap early in the day. I slept for 13 hours lastnight, and almost couldn't get out of bed this morning for work. hehe, oh well, who says fun doesn't have it's prices? Just goes to show I'm not a teenager anymore who can run on diet coke and 4 hours of sleep. Damned responsability :lol: I'ma pick up a season pass too. Blender, anyone else got one?
