  1. I heard about that too, Orlando Bloom is also suppossed to be it too. But now, for some odd reason, there's no mention of this movie anywhere. It was on IMDB (internet movie data base) and now it's gone. Does that mean the idea was shelved?

On another board, theres an individual that stated she saw Orlando just down the road from her doing a filming. "He was in an itty bitty town called Beaver, pop. 95, near Eureka Springs." Not sure what state it was though.

I checked up on the "Remains", your right, its gone now. And I had the "Piano Tuner of Earthquakes" mixed up with the "Remains". "Piano Tuner" is currently filming. I think I read that "Remains" is back on hold due to budget. They have been trying to film that movie for several years.

And as for Geoffrey playing a "Phantom" type character...... all I can say is SWOON.

  2. WOOOPS SILVER STEELE!

Looks like we had the exact same idea at the same time! I edited mine as ye got to it a wee bit befer I did

    Great minds think alike!

I just can't believe this seller has the gall to be trying to pass this stuff off. Some of that stuff is EXPENSIVE.

Get em Bess... get em good!

  3. Did ya know that Tim Curry and Geoffrey Rush are going to be in a movie together? Its called "The Remains of the Piano'. It's also going to have Michael York, Patrick Stewart, Billy Connolly, Eric Idle, Julian Sands and Will Kemp in it.

Its suppose to be a comedy (gee, with Pyhthon people in it.. noooooo), about a middle aged British aristocrat who returns from India with a fortune and a piano whose life is turned upside down when he meets two women (Anjelica Houston and Neve Campbell) who both have enormous sexual hangups. Its a spoof on a Merchant-Ivory film. I read the filming has started in Toronto.

Tim plays a Reverend. Geoffrey plays the aristocrat.

Talk about a movie to see!

  4. Ah Steele, ye be bringin' up some o'me favorites when I were a child.

Especially ZOOM and wonderful show called "The Electric Company" that taught reading and grammer. Actually, me oldest cabin boy watches the new ZOOM and I be reminiscin' to him about the "old days" before e-mail and the internet.

I had totally forgotten about "The Electric Company". *sigh* Oh to only be that young again. My kids are a little young for Zoom, but occassionally I just keep it on PBS to keep them occupied when I'm trying to get things done around here. I like how they have snips of the classic Zoom. Saw one the other day, with the arms thing where you put your elbows together and do a "fan" motion. I gotta be honest, I tried it to see if I could still do it....:lol::lol:

I'd like to see Vampire Hunter D and Aeon Flux again.

Those of you who know of the classic Zoom will know what I'm talking about with the arms thing.

  5. Since when did Barbossa's hat have a pheasant feather in it? If your going to pull a con, seems to me that you would at LEAST try to make it authentic. And the starting bid of 199.99?!?!?!

Wrong style hat. Wrong color. Wrong band. Wrong feathers. Wrong material. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

For that kind of money, yep I'd be emailin the seller, and emailin the lawyers.

And I'd pay to be a fly on the wall when the seller gets an email from a Disney domain!

  6. Perhaps a T-shirt that some bildge rat didn't make in his parents basement with his HP Deskjet Printer  :)

    ;)B)B)

I don't know why, but I busted out laughing when I read that!!

I almost bought one of those shirts, but changed me mind when I saw the complaints on the users feedback page. ;)

Besides, I 'd rather have official stuff like Captain Morgana! :)

I'd like to get my hands on one of the "Livin the Ride" POTC production crew shirts.

  7. Well, it looks like I set off a hailstorm of Disney hate with me original post!  ;)

Not necessarily Disney bashing. Just trying to understand the logic behind it all. One thing you can count on when it comes to Disney movies, generally, you know they are going to be a good children's movie. And I just hope that can be passed on to further generations.

Remember when you were young? I'm going to be giving my age away here. Remember the Bugs Bunny cartoons? The ones with the "theres way too much violence in them, so we have to censor them now" ones? Yet, the Teenage Mutant Turtles and the Power Rangers hold just as much violence. Remember "Schoolhouse Rock"? And this one really goes way back, remember all the Sid and Marty Kroft shows? Yea, a bit corney, but original. I remember waking up on Saturday mornings running to the TV to see Saturday cartoons. Disney was on Sunday night. And if it wasn't Saturday, there were two hours of Sesame Street, Captain Kangaroo, Zoom and Mr. Rogers to look forward to. All this before cable existed. Kida gives you warm and fuzzy feelings.

Now, just turn on Nick, The Cartoon Network, and Disney and you'll find at least one if not all have cartoons on. Some totally mindless. Others, turning into family favorites, like Spongebob. Is it too much as a parent to want my children to have those same warm and fuzzy feelings when they have their own children?

BTW, Disney cancelled one show that was just, to me, so cool about 10 years ago. Alice in Wonderland. Loved the costumes, thought the Mad Hatter was a hoot. But alas, it is no longer more.

  8. That makes sense. Management in any corporation stays in their office, looking at numbers, making phone calls, and going to meetings. Middle management talks to the bottom rung on the ladder. Things get lost along the way. People see what they want to see.

But seems that if I owned a company, had a CEO that the stockholders wanted out, I would want to know why, and then do what needs to be done. *shrugs* Then again, I've never made it to the upper crust of management. Always been one of those middle people. Can't seem to keep my mouth shut. Gee, what surprise...

  9. Sounds like certain top officials at Disney need to be taken out for a bath, because it sounds pretty dirty to me. Palms being greased and deals being made behind closed doors. But then again, in what corporation doesn't that happen anymore.

  10. LOL, well, maybe parts of the ship

I had to go back and read that again. I read it wrong.. ACK.

But still, the model I'm sure was pretty good size. Quite something to have!

If anyone is thinking of Christmas yet, add that to my list! I'm wondering if Santa Claus would help? I've been a very good pirate this year! *crossing fingers*

  11. But I still think they should build a real version of the Black Pearl!

    Me too! :)

Oh, would people pay up the wazzoo to have a ride on the infamous pirate ship!

That they would! I know I sure would pay to take a ride on it!!

I read somewhere, can't remember where, that the "hull" of the BP was sold to an island resort for a very cheap price. The new owner was estatic, until he found out the barge didn't come with it, and it cost several thousand dollars per day to rent!

  12. Several weeks ago, I went to Hastings and they didn't even have it!!

Maybe I can find it cheap on ebay...

I found my copy at a pawn shop for $2.00!

You might want to check over at walmart.com. Their prices are reasonable, and you can get just about any movie there.

  13. Someone over at Disney needs to have a labatomony! Oh wait, someone already seems to be without brains.. well then again........ maybe less will help.

It does not seem to me that having to pay an actor for his likeness should be a deterrent to making items for an action movie. There are "Spiderman" toys. There were "Batman" toys. (Yes I know those did not come from the Disney studios.) Is the POTC game an exception? Are not likenesses used there also? There always have been and always will be toys from movies. There are many other options if that is the case. Even if a studio only makes 10% off a toy, that is still a profit. Here, over a year after the movie was first released in the theaters, POTC is still a money maker. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy can only carry Disney so far. They have been the ground work for Disney for years, but in this day and age, kids, and obviously adults, want more.

It sounds to me like someone over there needs to take a HARD LOOK at where they are going and what they are doing. I may agree that POTC was a bit underrated before it came out. But the bottom line is, box office numbers tell the story, regardless of what critics say. All one simply need to do is OPEN THEIR EYES and see that POTC is nothing but a profit maker. One simply need look at fanfiction.net (A poor example, but it suits the purpose.) Most movies listed there have anywhere from 50 to 500 stories. POTC has over FIVE THOUSAND. Anything that is remotely related to POTC on eBay is extremely popular. Just look at the theater posters and, I dont know what they are called, but the carboard cutouts of the characters. There is even a cult following called POTC Interactive for the movie. (Much like the Rocky Horror Picture Show.) I mean, heck everyone is trying to make a buck off the movie. People are even selling screencaps on CD's over at eBay. (Copyright infringment yes, but no one seems to be looking.)

But then again, someone might have other motives of where they want Disney to go. Disney is a symbol of innocence and childhood. And it will be a sad day when Disney is gone and future generations will not be able to enjoy the same as we have. The stockholders of Disney should call to arms and rid Disney of their terrible curse.

    *Jumping off the soapbox*

  14. I *finally* got to get a up-to-date on when the storm went thru, only three days later. Highest winds recorded here were 92mph at the Port Authority, with a 98 mph reading on the Cape Fear River, with average winds in the 80 mph range. We got over 8 inches of rain. Several awnings at gas stations were torn down. Couple of boats fell off their slips, and on to one another. Several business were also destroyed. A few houses had large trees fall on them. So far Wilmington alone, the damage value is about $8mill so far. That doesn't include the beaches. There's still over 30 thousand people without power around here.

Here's some pictures of the damage, if anyone's interested.

  15. It would be cool if we all got together, in our garb and stormed the theater-lol! What a sight that would be! We'd go to the El Captain theater in Hollywood. The famous movie theater that shows Disney movies only. Maybe I could persuade me friend Rob to get us in free-lol!

OH...that sounds so cool...and this time Geoffrey will probably be there ...god i want to come to the premiere..but there's no way in H*LL i can get overthere...unless i win big in the lottery finally SOON...

All the fun happens in California... *pout*

We've got a film studio here (One Tree Hill was done there), but other than that, it's too quiet! And unfortunately, it's also dying out here. One of the major movie camera companies just moved out of here. Neat thing about having a film studio here is when the shows are over, they have a MASSIVE garage sale! Some of my kids toys are from that show.

  16. Oh ok. Btw, where exactly do you work, if you don't mind me askin?

    No, I don;t mind.

No secret here that I am the Walt Disney Studios Talent and Production Coordinator.

    (shrug) It's a living.

Now THAT has got to be an interesting job! If I may ask, how did you get into that line of business?

Makes my profession of a network engineer/HSD engineer/computer geek-nerd seem soooooo boring!

  17. Thought i would right a quick update. The Florida Keys were spared quite a lot of the storm. There was a bit of damage, but the majority of that is already cleaned up and everything is pretty much open for business. I did see a some shops still boarded up on Duval St. but we're getting back to normal until Earl gets closer. Silver Steele, you have my sympathies mate. I lived in the washington/bath/greenville NC area for about 10 years. we had 6 in 5 years there and the last one I went through was Floyd. I figured if I was gonna get hit by hurricanes every year anyway, I might as well be in Key West! Plus, never live anywhere near someplace called the "great dismal swamp" (check the map, it's there) Good luck during Hurricane season. At some point, someone painted a great big bullseye over eastern NC and that where everything aims at.

    Deadly Aim

    Key West Pirate

I was told last year when Isabel came thru that there's an old saying around here. All the hurricanes come straight up the Cape Fear river. Three storms this year and we've had to deal with them all.

Ocean paradise does have it's downfalls!

I'm starting to think like you KW. If I'm gonna have to deal with hurricanes, it might as well be in the caribbean!
