  1. ^ Definitely quality! (My waistline can't handle quantity...) < I'm with you on the long posts. I must admit, though, to being guilty of making the occasional long post myself. V Beer or wine?
  2. ^ My mum and I take occasional road trips and can do a pretty kick-ass picnic. < Speaking of kick-ass, I sailed again on the Aldebaran this weekend. V What would your ultimate picnic menu be?
  3. And I just got one. Jack gave me an early birthday present! Woo hoo!
  4. ^ Don't use printed calendars, only the one on my computer. Jack has the Don Maitz calendar which, I believe, has the holidays printed on it. < I'm waiting for the post-Easter chocolate sales! V Were there any unusual Easter traditions when you were growing up?
  5. Just got back from teaching a couple of classes in the Chicago area. I was in the Hoffman Estates area which, I am told, is the absolute boonies. (Anything past the Woodfield Mall falls into this category, apparently.) I am exhausted! I'm still getting over bronchitis and unfortunately, quite a few of the students, while chronologically adults, acted like spoiled children. Can't tell you how often I wanted to pull a nun move on them and smack 'em with a ruler. Also, I found a skull clock I MUST have at Z Gallerie - there are a few to be had locally, so I'm getting one!
  6. ^I got stranded on the freeway once about twenty-five years ago. Got my car to the side and then ran home (several miles) and called to say I'd be late for work. < Discovered a new used book store near work! Woo hoo! V Same question.
  7. ^ Not sure if I'd be an officer. I'm more of a problem-solver, fix-it kind of gal. I'd probably be the ship's carpenter (in disguise as a man, of course...) < Amazing sail on the Aldebaran yesterday. Of course, I'm beat to hell today. V Good question earlier, so I'll re-use it. Favourite books?
  8. Or those "flash" shots, lasting a split-second, one after the other. It's like watching a strobe light.
  9. Hey - I don't mind. I get two birthdays this way, even though one of them isn't mine.
  10. ^ Nope. I live in the San Francisco Bay area and do all my sailing there right now. < Not my birthday today. V Ever had a case of mistaken identity?
  11. Swords pointed at me just means a wee bit of exercise. Thanks everyone, but actually, it's not my birthday. Another woman who used the nom de plume of Red Handed Jill (no hyphen) posted here briefly a couple of years ago. It's her birthday today. My birthday's in a few weeks, though...
  12. Heh. Folks who run cable inside office buildings would know that word.
  13. I want to see something unusual made out of rocks.
  14. Okay, I'll bite. Out of the legion of sewing projects in my queue: Near: Finish number two fusilier coat. Far: Finish all four of these coats.
  15. ^ Shower for getting clean, bath for relaxing. < Jack gets back from Tampa today - yay! V If you could spend a year sailing around on a tall ship, would you?
  16. ^ One turtle with attitude, one cat. < I'll be sailing on this ship on Saturday - woo hoo! V Relax at the beach or snorkle?
  17. ^ Standing up at the side of a very busy street. Getting ready to cross the street, actually. A car whizzing by right in front of me going 45 mph woke me up. < I was away and now Jack has been away for a few days. Our kitty is dealing with his separation anxiety issues by vomiting and pooping on the rugs. Sigh... V Does your pet do anything REALLY weird?
  18. ^ I'm a musician. < Of course, most of what I play is sea chanteys... V If you could change one thing physically about yourself, what would it be?
  19. ^ Yep - I've spent many an hour underwater. < My two new vests are almost done. Also working on a waspie corset. V Ever go rock climbing?
