The cold has passed through here (not cold by midwest standards, surely) but enough for snow at close to sea level and that's saying a lot. But now we're going through the wind and rain part of Winter. Flooding - oh, boy!

Angles more to the right for Animal and looks to QM James..Prosperity is nice and simple.
Aye - seems most fitting.

Someone else would be able to tell you whether or not it's historically accurate but it looks great!

Wish I could make it to this shindig - sounds like it's gonna be a BLAST!

He only listed three alternatives. There are more...
And my stance is about anyone nominating themselves chief of anything off the bat after just showing up. (You recall the debacle with the "pirate lord"?... Just trying to head off one of THOSE situations...)
I learned that in real life you are a sailor, with some experience with black powder and blade weapons.I failed to fine anything to explain your skeptiaicism as you said I would so I must refer to this "pirate lord" that you mention. I searched for this and found no other references to "pirate lord". While in real life I served in the U. S. Marines as a Tank Commander with the call sign Warlord. Firing thousands of rounds from real life cannons. That I spent years deployed aboard real life naval ships, manning real life gun crews and real life boarding parties onto real life enemy vessels. However I thought this was a fantasy thread and as I just washed up with the last high tide I wanted to engage in some fantasy participation. I was expecting someone to challange me I was inviting the conversation. Living the GAoP lifestyle has been a fantasy of mine for more than 40 years and I thought I had found a place with like minded folks. I didn't expect to be perjudged for some "debacle" that I knew nothing about.
My note about the "pirate lord" was aimed at Sterling, when he asked me about my reply. The situation I alluded to was about someone who, having been a member of the Pub just a few days, started calling himself the "Pirate Lord" and the situation degenerated from there and as a result he no longer posts here. The main issue was with someone joining and within a week calling him or herself a chief or leader of something, whether fantasy or otherwise; I didn't want the same thing to happen to you that happened to that Pirate Lord guy. So I'd recommend hanging out and getting the feel of this place. We really are for the most part okay folks, but it does take a bit of time to get the lay of the land, so to speak.

Nice verse, but yep - still skeptical. Read some of my previous posts about how I spend my spare time in real life and you'll see why...

Hope you've been having a great birthday - here's to many more!

Hope you're having a great birthday! (You're very mature for being just two, though... )

Chief Nautical Acquisition Specialist?...

True - she is part of a gun crew on a ship.

Heh - my first thought was a rendezvous in a HOTEL?? When I think "rendezvous" I think of the blackpowder rendezvous reenactment events that I do. Setting up a pre-1840's camp, shooting targets in the woods and throwing tomahawks and knives.

BTW, just heard from Sophia. She had a bit of artist's block so she's doing the last piece now and says she'll have it out by Monday at the latest.

The mind reels... (Can you put Jack in it? And sailing and cannons?)
-
Damn - I nearly spit my rum onto my computer screen! ;)

If this were another sort of historic forum, I might say a clockmaker or other craftsperson - but since this is a piracy forum, I'd have to say my profession would be pirate and I'd be on a ship! (Yeah, no imagination...)
-
Last I heard she was going to work on it over the holidays and send it out afterward.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHAIN SHOT!!
Looking forward to sailing and firing cannons with you in June!

Patt has been double-booked the past couple of years - maybe he'll be back in the TO7S camp this year. And Oderless Eye was at the second weekend, if memory serves.
And you can attend without being part of a group, but if you want hang out after hours, camp or fire black powder, you need to register with a group. Tales of the Seven Seas will be attending the first weekend, so if you're interested, when the time comes I can put you on our gate list. And with regards to black powder, the rangemaster will go over the rules and regs with everyone prior to the afternoon battles.

Ah - I suspected it was you! Thanks!

Yay! Jack found one for me for Christmas! I think through a reproduction company in Williamsburg.
-
I got a variety of gifts - a couple of them could be construed as piratical.
First, a Captain Skully glass (for fruity, potent rum drinks, such as you'd have in a tiki bar):
And Jack found me a reproduction of a Nelson-era ship's lantern (I've SO wanted one of these ever since I saw Master and Commander - the first time):

The hemp used in fabric and ropes and such is a cousin to the hemp that is smoked recreationally (it has much longer fibers than its cousin.) The cotton industry, as well as other industries, muddied the waters because they didn't want the competition, since hemp had such a wide variety of uses, grew faster, was hardy, etc. In fact, if memory serves, the whole making marijuana illegal movement was started because of this - led by, I believe, William Randolph Hearst.

One of these years you'll have to join us!
We also hold a yearly barbecue in July, on the shores of a lagoon. I'll post information about that when the time comes and if anyone happens to be in the area.
