  1. I'm still waiting for mine - but I had been told that it would be late.
  2. Ripple - Grateful Dead (one of my favourites of theirs)
  3. Another excellent Canadian brew is Shaftebury Cream Ale - you can only get it in western BC, mores the pity!
  4. Other than some wacky health issues, 2008 was a pretty good year for me as well. I spent many happy days firing black powder implementia - not only at Ojai and NorCal, but at black powder rendezvous, where I was able to shot my guns and do more than make loud noises (although they certainly did that...)! Much of this fun happened in the company of friends (like Ransom and Chain Shot.) 2008 was also an exciting year for sailing voyages - besides day sailing, Jack and I made two offshore, multi-day excursions on the schooner Aldebaran, which were pretty exciting (particularly exciting at times.) Looking forward to more adventures in 2009!
  5. A bit annoyed; I'm dealing with a petulant co-worker. The man is in his 40's - he should be a grown-up by now...
  6. I'm a big fan of North Coast Brewery beers. Their Russian stout is the stoutiest stout that ever stouted. It's the beer that is a meal. And their Pranqster is a superb Belgian-style ale. Their other beers are stellar as well.
  7. Grrrr - too bad those pants don't come in smaller waist sizes! But I did order some of those gaiters.
  8. Happy birthday to a hard-working student and future educator!
  9. Buttered english muffins brought to me in bed by my cabin boy.
  10. I was told mine would be a tad late. Stretches out the holidays, that does...
  11. I've been looking for them as well. I've contacted both the gent in the UK and Sykes and have yet to even get a reply. So I'd be really interested to hear how I can get either of these vendors to actually sell me a set of these. Eyes - think I'll be contacting your friend - I hope he's more communicative than either of those guys.
  12. Oddly enough, that's what Jack has requested for dinner tonight - so won ton soup it is!
  13. Redwood Shores doesn't have a tourism bureau, unfortunately, which is a pity because it is a beautiful place to live and visit - the pictures don't do it justice. There are all kinds of trails along the bay and estuaries and all kinds of local fauna, particularly shorebirds. The only site really dedicated to it was created by realtors: Redwood Shores info
  14. Heh - when the time comes, if you're considering going the non-HRT route email me and I'll give you my tips to make it bearable.
  15. <<icky woman talk mode on>> Dunno - it would have been nice to sail through my 40's like most women do. And it's not as though your period just stops and you don't have to deal with it any more - you can go for ten years with the menopausal symptoms AND your period. Or you can go on HRT but that has risks and you're essentially just putting off menopause - and if your doctors tell you that you have to stop HRT, you're back to square one, going through menopause from the beginning (which is why I'm going the non-HRT route.) So it's no picnic. But I suppose the grass is always greener... <<icky woman talk mode off>>
  16. Let's go with the incredibly destructive type. That's just...wrong. I'll see your sniper kitty and raise you one evil kitty/
  17. Jack and I are putting together some steampunkish outfits. Striped pants, frock coats, top hat with goggles. Just trying to figure out the weapons...
  18. Seven more years to menopause? I wish I had that kind of predictor. I thought mine would show up around 50 like my mum but it hit me at 39. The moral of this story is don't expect menopause to show up according to schedule.
  19. You haven't seen Firefly yet???? Wow - what you have to look forward to!
  20. "Container" being another word for "stomach"?... Jack and I had our Christmas/Winter Solstice party last Saturday. Unfortunately, quite a few of our friends came down sick so I had food left over. So many of our meals this week have involved leftovers. I think I'll make pasta tonight.
  21. Wow - we have a storm headed our way tonight, too. Rain and ice in the lower elevations, snow in the higher ones (nothing like the snow you will see up north but it'll make for interesting driving...) It will undoubtedly hit you too, Patrick - sorry!
  22. Aye - I've found life experience to be invaluable when you're a student. Well done - both of you!!
  23. ^ The tree stays up until the end of January. Makes it festive through much of Winter. < We did a nautical tree this year. Our skull tree topper is wearing a captain's hat. V Pass the question.
  24. So have you found a source for bacon birthday cakes??? Happy birthday!!
