  1. I'm sorry about all of this. The problem now lies in raising the money in time to buy the tickets at a reasonable price. Even if I could raise the money again, by the time I did, the tickets will have gone up. I put the Watch Dog Draughts up for sale, but I'd have to sell close to 100 of them in the next two weeks to make it to PIP. If I had know this would have been a problem I might have pushed to sell them sooner. Alas...It might be next year before we see some of you again. I'm sure all of you will have a grand time just the same. Thanks for the sentiments.
  2. It's nice to see I don't have to explain the banana leaf rip-off. Excellent. I bought a nice quantity of the real thing when I was last there.
  3. There is a sometimes sad, but much understood rule of this hobby...Life before Re-enactment. Due to several unexpected financial turns of event, I can no longer afford the two plane tickets for me and my lovely wife. Therefore, I will not be attending Pirates in Paradise this year. I will try and continue in whatever capacity I may, assisting those with questions and information, but I will not be at the festival. Sigh.
  4. Perhaps it is poetic justice, but every time my Navajo neighbors have a family cookout, they steal wood from my woodpile.
  5. I recommend a nice Spanish cava. I also recommend the Chocolate and Cacao Nib Cookies.
  6. Not too sweet. The plantain is offset by the dark soy sauce, Hungarian paprika and minced fresh ginger.
  7. As a rule, be careful when buying a shirt when the model is carrying a plastic cutlass.
  8. All of them spread out over time.
  9. Tonight's special is Chicken & Plantain Skewers.
  10. "Tis a lengthy wine list, Sir William. I'll have a glass of yer Portuguese Tawny Port, thank ye." Jacky looks about the Tsunami Kate, which is rich in local color and steeped in pub lore. The Tsunami Kate bares witness to William Red Wake's passion for food, art, and friends. Jacky sighs, and wishes Ransom were here. A fine choice.
  11. July 22, 1704 - Aboard the Watch Dog Second Dog Watch begins. Second Watch began with the usual routine. The lookouts descended from above, only to be replaced by the oncoming watch. The Larboard and Starboard watches traded crew for crew almost equally and the Watch Dog continued her progress without pause. The galley remained busy throughout the change of watch, with its entire staff at the cook pots. Lazarus delved out portion after portion of hot fare until every sailor went down to the berth deck with a full belly and a satisfied smile. To add to this satisfaction, the rum ration was increased for the retiring watch by a half ration, and morale was high. As for the Watch Dog herself, she made good speed, even as the trade winds began to turn against her. - STARBOARD WATCH ON DUTY -
  12. Some of you may already be familiar with the Watch Dog and its crew. The story has been a work in progress here on the Pub for some time now. I am now proud to offer the Draughts of the Watch Dog for sale. The Draughts are printed in dark brown ink on a pale parchment measuring 20 x 28 inches. The plans include a profile of the frigate and rigging as well as the individual decks and small boats. Copies of the draughts are being sold in pairs. One for framing. One for folding. Each purchase includes two copies for $25.00 within the U.S. This price reflects priority shipping and handling. International customers may purchase the Draughts of the Watch Dog by paypal using my wife's account. The cost for overseas shipping is much higher, but after shopping around and averaging the cost to various countries such as Denmark, Germany and Russia I have decided to set the overall cost at $35.00. See payment option below. The Draughts Detail Please make checks payable to: William Pace 143 South 400 West Logan, Utah 84321 Paypal customers add $3.00 and send me a PM with a name and address for shipping. Please send paypal requests to me by private message for further instructions.
  13. Too kind. May I interest you in something from our wine list?
  14. I highly recommend that you try and find a glass factory in Jordon or Egypt. The hand blown glass of the region comes in some amazing natural colors. The necklace I wore to PIP last year was made from blue glass beads I purchased back in 1988. I also know that there are a few alabaster shops in the Cairo area if you can find them. You can get plates, bowls, jewelry, etc. all made from hand turned alabaster. You might also pick up blank papyrus and hand made papers for making documents and maps later on. If you get a chance, try and buy hand woven materials for costumes. You can get some amazing hand made textiles in the Middle East. Don't be afraid to pack very light, so that you have plenty of room to bring home surprises. If I think of any other specific places, I'll let you know. Are you flying from Jordon into Cairo?
  15. Buy a mannequin when I could buy a boat? Um...no.
  16. We also have Turkey and Sausage Creole Jambalaya with shrimp. And Panko Fried Turkey Croquettes.
  17. For lunch and dinner we have Big Easy Chicken Creole.
  18. Mister Gage and Miss Constance had their hands full in the galley serving the hungry watches. They heaped out large portions of food, all too aware that they would soon resupply well enough to replace any extra fare that they dished out. The crew didn't seem to mind at all as they stowed away plates of beef and potatoes, passing more than a few compliments back into the steam filled room. The conversations at table that night naturally turned to the port cities of Martinique, including the bay overseen by Fort Royal and the taverns of St. Pierre. Everyone aboard was getting anxious, and already some of the crew had bought and sold wares of finery to fellow crew members. Those fortunate enough to have extra shirts, scarves and hats, auctioned them away for an exaggerated price to men and women eager to look good when they landed ashore. Even some small arms exchanged hands and the Master-At-Arms was forced to make his share of changes to the tally as a pistol or knife shifted in ownership. It was the commerce of men and women with heavy purses and fevered imaginations.
  19. I am limited in my pet peaves to just a few golden calves which I worship with great zeal. Blurry pictures. Why do people post them? "Look! I just got back from Russia and I posted my headache-indusing, miasmic-half-lit, FBI-Satellite-image-from-the-50s, family photo album!" Sorry. I just got out of a thread where a guy posted over 70+ blurry images of his trip. It looks like a drug trip. Why do people post the lousy shots? Especially when they outnumber the good ones? Why? No, really. Why?
  20. Diego originally stated that the event would run from October 6th to October 8th, based on the initial planning stages of the event. Mad Matt later noted that the event had been officially moved to October 13th-15th. I wanted to go this year, but once the oirginal dates were changed I had a conflict. Why is Rumba advertising the dates of October 8th through the tenth?
  21. Today's specials are... Scallops on skewers with carrots. Carrot Ravioli and King Bolete Mushrooms with Currants, Fried Sage and Sage Blossoms. Carrot and Asparagus Turkey Packets. And carrot cake.
