  1. Ahoy there bess!

When ya see Treva and Vince at the event...would you thank them for Captn Spareribs?

I MC'd the CHOC event up here and got a chance to hang out with them for most of the evening. Man, you could not find nicer guys....for black hearted cut throats that is.

  2. Ya know...

    Thar I was...

    Standing on Fisherman's Wharf yesterday...

Gathering crowds...doing the infamous Capt'n Jack Spareribs show...

Juggling knives, standing on a rolling cart and trunks above the crowd...

    Making my living...livin' the life...

    and thinking...

I am standing on landfill, in THE city...on THAT date...

    and thinking...

    Why's the rum gone?

  3. We was all thinkin' it ...they was just sayin' it.

As far as I am concerned...she was an ass to have to deal with for about 10 minutes while she tried to get me to do somethign stupid and break character, etc.

So...flat-chested?..obvious and she called it out herself.

Lesbian?... I doubt it...she's probably not getting much of anything with an attitude like that.

    Look...

lets just call it like it is:

    A cheap attempt at humor...that didn't work.

She is a wanna-be (God please don't let me go back to being an intern) MTV v-jay on a verey late, late, late, late show that just...doesn't matter.

    But she tried.

  4. When I get the pics off the camera

I will post a few if they came out

Every year we go rather large and have been doing it for a decade here.

So we get about 250 kids and 20 lbs of candy later...

This year I built the bow of the ship in the front and mounted our co2 cannon on it.

We also decided to move from just the POTC ride theme as usual but added in another close by attraction which the undead monkeys and pirates had taken over...the Tiki Room. Unfortunatley there were only feathers left in the tiki lounge when the monkeys were done...but we had fun

Candy for the kids in the ship...rum for the adults at the tiki bar

    :)

Hope everyone had a great Haloowe'en

  5. Ah Iron Bess...the Mrs. and her dog AND my daughter were there.

The daugheter was the one on the basket with the swords stuck through it during our shows. ;)

And thanks to ya Iron Hand. We are about getting folks IN the encampment interacting. Digging for burried treasure or posing for a shot ... or being shot...or drinking a shot...

    ;)

  6. Here are a couple of shots of our encampment. Can't see the whole thing but this was the genral feel. It became a gathering spot for picture taking and dressing in our gear and hats and posing on the treasure throne. And being our first year with an encampment there, we were proud to accept the award as best encampment or whatever they call it there

Tony from Sword and the stone hung out quite a bit as his son loved shooting me with his peatnut crossbow. I also bought one of his screen used swords from POTC2&3. When I get it I'll have to post a pic in Plunder :)

We had a blast and can't wait until next year!!

  7. I should get a chance tomorrow to post excellent pics of our "independent" crew of scallywags!!

AYE! And What a fine "independant" crew you have!

Best damn mates a pyrate could ask for!

Yer welcome in the Pirates of Harbor Bay camp anytime!

Will post pics when we can.

    What a weekend!

  8. AYE! Petee!!! Can't wait for the weekend!! Driving down on Friday to set up the camp with the crew.

Hope you do make it Bess! Be sure to stop and visit. Lisa would love to see you and CowBoy will be there too!

In fact I hope to see any folks from here in our encampment.

We'll have Pirates of Harbor Bay signage but we'll be easy to find for most. We will be right where Tales was last weekend.

Great to hear it was a grand time!

It'll be a blast this weekend too! So come belly up to the bar or have a seat at our table for a game of chance... stop by pose for a picture.

And be sure to catch one of our shows. The Monkey will be there again!

  9. First weekend of Ojai looks like it will be cool and possibly even wet - rain!

That has never happened for the Sept. event!

I suggest a 1:00 PM gathering for the benefit of Ace doing stage shows.

Thanks fer the thought Rumba but the Pirates of Harbor Bay will only be making the second weekend. So no need to worry about time due to our shows. :)

I was suggesting that those whats coming to the second maybe meet up in our area and take a shot the second weekend too!

  10. For those that will be there the second weekend...

We could meet in the Pirates of Harbor Bay encampment in between our performances for a picture.

Last year we met in front of my vendor booth.

Our "treasure cove" would be a much better backdrop as it's made to be used for photo ops anyway.

Our stage shows are 30 minutes and are at:

    12:00

    2:30

    and

    4:30

So anytime in between would work.

    :D

  11. It would be grand to see you Bess if you do make it to the second weekend. But I understand if you don't. I have 5 weekends in a row booked and I am in crunch mode until January at work...gotta love the video game industry

We will be playing quite hard!

Pirates of Harbor Bay will be joined by:

The Crew of the Dirty Rotten Oar

Several members of St. Gregory's guild

And a few members of other groups that can't make the first weekend

To all our mates here on the pub & you KNOW who you are... ya better come find our encampment (it's looking more and more like bits of a salvaged shipwreck).

And we will be doing a couple of stage shows a day, but I don't have the schedule yet. So if you missed Maynard the Talking Monkey at last years afterhours show.... ya better git yer arrrrrrse to a show of ours

  12. I'll be there with the Pirates of Harbor Bay on the second weekend.

Well be doing stage shows and on going performances in our encampment.

Sorry Mr. Eye but I will not be doing Capt'n Jack's Voo Doo Shack this year, besides looks like you will be there the other weekend. Vending means being stuck in a booth...not as much fun as being on the loose!

Can't make the first weekend as we are performing at the Northern Faire at Casa.

After our shows at the Nor Cal Pirate Fest... we are way too booked up.

Can't be in more than one place at a time!

Sorry we'll miss you Iron Bess! If you do make it for some reason you know where to find shade and a seat at our bar.... oh ok...you can sit in the treasure throne instead...geeez

  13. It was indeed an EXTREMELY successful event!

For a first year event it was very well organized and flowed smoothly.

Not to mention that they would have been happy with 5,000 patrons between the two days they ended up with 15,000 EACH day!

yet, it never seemed too conjested or like there wasn't something to do. It was a very cool family enviroment too. there were TONS of kids, many dressed up.

The Pirates of Harbor Bay's area was never empty. We had a nonstop flow of patrons posing for pictures with us and our props every minute we were not on stage.

We had 4 stage shows a day and on the main stage (with wonderful pirate shipwreck backdrop) with audineces in the thousands. Saturday was SO windy that we ended up modifying most of our acts and had to drop juggling all together except for the cannon ball juggling (bowling ball).

All the entertainment was fantastic and all the performers had a great time backstage between shows.

Tom Lewis is both very entertaining but also a genuinely nice guy

The cast members in attendance from the films (like Barbossa's Bos'un) were a fun group of guys and really patient with the masses of crowds wanting pictures and autographs.

  14. A lot of the stuff the vendors are going through is due to it being a brand new event and in a new location. So it's gonna be a little bunged up at first

The thought of having it be vendor supported was to be able to keep if free to the public and easily accessible for the first year.

It may change in the future I am guessing.

But it's important to get it off the ground to begin with. At least someone stepped up. We finally have a local devoted festival!
