Back to toppic...:
When I see pictures of the genuine old bottles they appear black, but the replica's you guys pointed out to me are green and more transparant...
So have the old ones turned black and less transparant after all these years..?
-
Hi Cripps, i had no qlue that you where into this and are translateting these documents my question was just a question without the meaning of having you to do or make anything.
But now you mention it...
I would like to greate (print) a library of copied and made(fake) Spanish documents to illustrate the audience what Spanish colonial live was about in let's say 1720...
So if you don't mind i would like to ask you what it is you do and if you have anything allready digital that I could/may print and use...?
I am especialy interrested in Spanish stuff related to New Spain (Guatemala, Mexico Honduras etc.)...
-
Great!! Thanks Cripps. two more questions now:
1: do have the text in Spanish also??
2: do you have maybe a picture of the real document.
I would like to have one such a letter within my kitt...
-
If you can come up with anything, pleas let me know...

....what black guy?........
unfortunatly I have no name only this info:

I found some handblown union bottles on ebay,
they cost each something like 24 dollars or something.
My question is: Is this a good prise (fro the buyer) or are there sheaper ones somewhere??
-
I know of one Black guy that piratered under the Spanish collors to hunt down english and other pirates.
He had it's base at Guatemala. this makes me wander:
Does any of you know about Spanish Letters of marque???

OK, here's one for a start: http://www.nga.gov/e...ndez/index.shtm
You want painting #15, although the rest of his stuff is really cool (the cork "wine cooler" got a lot of attention with the RevWar folks)
Late for GAoP, the artist was born 1715. And I'm just starting to look for samples from earlier.
thanks jendobyns. these pictures are cool and it's extra nice that the paintings are Spanish!!
So... now I want to have a CHOCOLATE POT also...
Ah, yes, please let me know when you find a source for those*G*
And when I get my chocolate cakes to look like the ones in the paintings, I will be a happy woman indeed. Just need more practice with the right tools.
The source? That's easy it's already on this thread... My link ... scroll 2/3 down fore the 1703 version like on the paintings...

Cool info guys and girls thanks!
And uh keep it comming...

I also have a collection of assorted pewter and Wilton Armetale pieces that I use, some of it is in the picture below. I'm not sure of the time period the Wilton stuff is supposed to represent. Maybe someone here can comment on the period correctness of some of these items so others can get an idea. Most of the stuff here is from thrift stores and yard sales (including my not-so-rare solid bottom horn mug!) so getting a set together for re-enactment use isn't difficult.
I like your collection Iron Jon. Or shuld I say Tin Jon...
I belief this style of tinwares is what they call Country French...

More on buckles:

Can't help but ask what your planning to do with them and the info you find?
I am alway courios about stuff considering the Spanish.
I have been thinking of buying a cannon one time to have a big object in my display to draws attention.
and if theres a way to make it more Spanish than buying someting off the shelf, (what a mighty big shelf that must be )
then that would be even better...
You might also want to take a look at my gallery, there are some pictures of cannons and canon barrels in there altough not much..
-
The one I have seen says 1940...
-
I ran into one such a tankard! What period is that??
-
Oh and you can find them here on "Marktplaats" (the dutch e-bay) cheap also...
-
It whas me wo asked the question. I lately run into a guy who sandcasts tin, indeed like the guy in the link Jendobyns posted here.
And there's rather a lot of this stuff here around in Holland. So I wondered.
Sometimes it's nice just to buy something from a guy you can look in the face and talk to in real life, instead of placing another order by the internet... (-;
And there's a lot of secondhand stores here in my city that might have this tinnen stuff that you can buy cheap every now and then...
Thats wy I asked....
-
So do I understand correctly, that sandcast tinnen mugs and plates are not period correct for lets say 1700 ??
-
Thank you!
I wil look into the book, and wait for your other respons.

I would like to have some one do some (a lot) 1700 emboidery in the future.
She now a day's does verry good and fine traditional Roemeniƫn things, so i asked here if se could also do something like this:
to be honest it scared here of a bit, and she wanted to know more about the techique.
So I wondered what more is there to say and know about this style of embroidery..?
So are there (online) explinations about how to approache this kind of work and what technigues to use??
Thanks!
