  1. When did the use of wax (or perhaps oil) find use to style facial hair? You see paintings of men with these beautiful curved mustaches and wonder...how did they do that?

Back in high school I used beeswax for my Mohawk, its great stuff no matter how fussy your hair may be (working it in there kinda hurts though).

Now to say that its something used back then...I can't. But it's great stuff nonetheless!

  2. It would be cooler if whoever wrote that bit had a citation for it. I'd love to read up on something like that. Maybe then I could get piercing that was less modern and more traditional. Hell I could get stuck by a real Aztec indian! lol.

My aunt has pretty work done she got over in the Philippines way back in the day, done with traditional inks and bamboo etc, it's amazing how her work after all these years is still so bright and beautiful.

But I am also scared of the words "skin etching" go figure :o

And after watching little tribal boys get circumsized with a sharpened bamboo shoot on tv, I dunno about tribal piercings, I almost passed out watching it, haa.

    *cries*

Yeah...I'd love to get traditional Polynesian tattoos on my leg. No matter how much it hurts lol.

But...circumsizion with bamboo tools? eeee...that makes me...not so comfortable.

  3. Niko: Very cool find, I love wiki! I have snakebites AND venom's, obviously my venom's shouldn't be an issue seeing as how they are in my mouth, I am still going to go with a clear curved bar (I went with a single curved bar versus two separate straight bars, saves space in my mouth and healing time!) to hide them a bit more, and perhaps save myself from chomping on them as often.

  4. So, what's left?

    I got the 10/11 shoes. I hope they fit . . .

If they don't I still need a pair lol.

I though you were getting the 12s.

    Not?

    No. Too big.

My concern is being too small for me, as I typically wear 10.5-11 US (except sandals, which are 9-9.5, go figure).

If they are too small for me, they are yours.

Well PM me when you know. I'd much prefer not to pay $108 for brand new shoes lol.

  5. The girlfriend and I (mainly the girlfriend) were wondering about bathrooms and showering accommodations at PiP.

Like what is available at the fort. My parents have a rental down in KW but I rather have that as a last resort.

Reading everything in the pub I've gotten a pretty good idea of what goes on at the camp and whatnot but what about the days before that? what do you all do?

I know I have more stuff to ask but I cant remember any more questions right now so I guess I'll post them when I do remember.

  6. Why not Ellida, the dragon ship that was gifted to Viking by Aegir? Or Skidbladnir! It's travel sized.

Skidbladnir has actually been considered...like I said depends on the ship really....

If ever happen to get a tall ship it would be named The Brass Arrow no questions asked.

Why The Brass Ar . . .Sorry. Didn't read the second part. . . .

    ....Thats right...No questions... ¬_¬

  7. Are you finding everything that you need? It helps to post often with questions and to make a checklist of your accomplishments. Never wait until a month out to begin. Make a purchasing and fabrication schedule and stick to it.

I'm finding everything fine. My kit will probably be done around august. Its the girlfriend that seems to be having more trouble with her kit cant find a decent stay that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. And I'm still debating on making my own tent or buying one...I know I want a wedge tent...so I'll need to figure that out. And then all the other little odds and ends like eating utensils and such should be taken care of soon.

  8. We have a CAL 40 named Odin and keeping with the Norse deity theme we named our motor boat Loki. When I get my own sailboat I'll probably name it something like Thor, Freyr, or Njörðr depending on the size and amount of sails and what not. If ever happen to get a tall ship it would be named The Brass Arrow no questions asked.

  9. Interested in knowing if anyone else has heard about this... unfortunately I only caught a small bit off the radio and had six others in the car yacking at the top of their lungs, but the gist I got was...

The historic sites either in the US or perhaps just in Virginia, are fighting a new proposition/bill, that would stop the teaching of history in the schools...

anyone know about this and have more details???

    ...Thats ridiculous....

  10. I did a bit o' research and the letters of marque were printed on vellum so i can print them as new easily (good job too as Hemp paper isnt easy to find in the UK)

You can get vellum easier than hemp paper??? :P

Yeah loads of places sell vellum around me. It's used in card making now so its quite easy to get.

Thats garbage! lol. When I was looking for period paper and such I had myself set on getting vellum and i couldn't find a decent source for it anywhere! So I settled for hemp paper....Lucky you lol.

  11. By the way this would make a killer article if someone would want to write such a thing.

Like how? I might want to write such a thing. Might as well do something with all this info I'm accumulating...

I'm suprised you haven't really. I mean with all the information you're giving people here on the pub you would think you would have.

  12. Fighting with a telephone company.

Very rarely do I rant and rave but this is too much. 8 months ago, my father passed away. As executer of his small estate, I've been responsible for all the associated matters regarding his death. He was meticulous with his record keeping and was a stickler for paying his bills in full and on time. After he passed, I contacted each and every company he had an account with. Providing them with death certificates when necessary and paying any and all final bills.

Now, 8 months later, I'm getting phone calls and bills with incredible amounts. For example, and ambulance company, assessed late charges to his bill for an ambulance call. They were great, took off the late fees and I paid the bill on the spot. The telephone company is the infuriating one. Assessing a $200 fee for early cancellation and other various charges. (did I mention I had already paid his final bill in full). You have got to be kidding me. The man is deceased. Perhaps I should have left the account open so he could call me from heaven. So after 20 minutes on hold, and speaking with 2 different people, they are supposedly waiving the fees. Thank goodness for that.

The woman I spoke with at the credit agency was wonderful. She also happens to be going through the same thing. We had a great discussion about the stupidity and insincerity of companies regarding in the matters of the death of a loved one. I wonder how many other stupid phone call I will be getting.

I'm sorry to about your father. My uncle passed away Sunday. It seems to there is been a lot of death as of late. There was a friend of a friend who passed a few months ago a girl I went to high school with was burned alive a while back and then the Saturday I went to leave to see my Uncle there were two accidents on US-1 and the one guy I saw that was in the accident looked really bad...

Not trying to be a down here or anything lol but I've never been exposed to this much death...makes you appreciate things a bit more you know?

  13. I gotta charge the batteries on the camera again, so pictures of more shtuff tomorrow. Mostly clothing and small items for kit. I do have a writng desk, laptop/table top kind with a copper plate on the front punched with a heart design, a black hat size 7 tacked up on one side, new only worn once by my son, a pair of Mary Diamonds shoes, size large, 11-12 I think, new never worn, a couple of maple fifes and a bunch of other stuff. Bo

I'd be interested in those shoes for sure.

  14. Well, ye both sound like ye may have a bit more fun than me when ye have fires at night...

I just have a nice lil pit in the ground...in which I burn wood...not couches...just wood...and I'm out of marshmallows...

I knew that dream meant SOMETHING! ;)

    Just wood?

Maybe its cuz me and me mates are young and stupid but we throw more than wood in a fire....Old generators, couches, tires, wooden pallets, rugs...whatever...lol

  15. I would like to inform everyone that I just had a grilled hogfish sandwich from one of the local fisheries and it was awesome.

Oooo, hogfish. I'm so jealous. That's the best tasting fish. 5 more months to go until I can eat that again. sigh......................

hey, eat some for me in the meantime, will ya

I think there is a saying...something along the lines of "The best things in life are illegal"...or maybe its free....whatever it is what I was trying to get at is the best fish (in my opinion) is Jewfish...it is the best fish I've ever had and I'm a real snob about fish. It is not worth breaking the law for though lol (not much is really).

But I will gladly eat some for all of you lol. Matter of fact I'm probably going to be making sushi soon...mmm...

  16. That's funny to me that you are having a hard time finding it. Here in Denver because of the large Latino population it can almost always be found right in the local grocery mega-mart.

Same. And I live on a damn island!
