  1. About two years ago History Channel International had this mini-reality series called "The Ship", putting modern folk on a 17th century reproduction ship and having them use all the tools of those times to map and navigate to Jakarta from Australia (although they ended up in Bali). I think they were on board for 2 months, and the only modern gadgets allowed was one satallite phone and a modern doctor. (Plus one camera crew- actually I think that was only 2 or 3 people that had to serve as part of the crew duties). They wwere allowed to bring two changes of clothes, a tooothbrush, hair brush, and one book. I remember they helicoptered a few people out due to injuries, and they were filming this right when 9/11 happened so the captain of the ship had to inform the rest of the (generally international) crew about the event. But watching them barter canned fish saved for rations for some fresh catches with islanders who did not want the canned fish, but did want t-shirts instead- that was priceless. So was watching the crew get "happy" on some palm wine. I can't find the series anywhere, been looking for it to give to my husband, who also loved the show. I think that either of us would sign up for a pirate's reality show in a sec.
  2. Love Great Big Sea m'self. If you can believe it, even Apple iTunes keeps recommending their albums...
  3. Booty Lickers? Baby's Got Booty? Knockin Booty? For an 8-member or less band: Pieces of Eight? The Groggins?
  4. Now take Sir Francis Drake, The Spanish all despise him But to the British, he's a hero, and they idolize him. Its how you look at Buccaneers that makes them bad or good and I see us as members of a noble brotherhood....
  5. Hmmm... How about these: Make him clean up after the sick ship's surgeon... Stab him with a spoon, because you know it'll hurt more... Call the fab five to give him a complete makeover... Tattoo him with a picture of the cast of "Fraiser"... Use his tongue to swab termites from the figurehead...
  6. I could've been a doctor I LIKE TAKING THINGS APART I could've been a lawyer- but I just had too much heart I could've been in politics, cause I've always been a big spend-er... and me..I coulda been....a contender..... I am still looking for someone who could crochet me a Jolly Rogers....
  7. I saw that Real World too channel surfing the other day. I found Megalophobia- fear of large objects, since she seems to be okay about small boats. So maybe she has Hydromegalophobia or Megalothalassophobia? (fear of big things and water or big things and sea?)
  8. Well there are some fine lines there- sometimes ye thinks they be singin about a woman, and often it turns out to be about the ship, or often a song talks a bout the love for the ladies, but not love. But with that in mind, ye got: Haul Away Joe Itches in Me Britches The Handsome Cabin Boy Spanish Ladies Eliza Lee Morning Glory A hundred years ago
  9. Blimey, locked in the Great Lakes. But if ye need help with project plans, ads, and voice over stuff that can be done at a distance for ye demo pilot- be glad to help ye where I be useful. Me thinks ye asked about interactive and syndicated tv show. If done well, ye could have something in both- also me'haps a sort online RPG-like game may be something to look into- something that could bring more attention to ye "forefront" project.
  10. Can't say that I had too many weird things happen dressed as a pirate, but for a Halloween party this year, I elected to go and dress weirdly. I decided to change alter egos for the night and for one night only became "One Eyed Ezekial, the Amish Pirate". Truth was, my hat fell apart and the only alternative in an 11th hour fix was an Amish-style straw hat. Good thing the shindig was in Pennsylvania.

  12. If ye be looking for somethin' on the bawdy side you could try the Poxy Boggards, they have many traditional drinking songs and a few shanties as well (and of course, sometimes ye can't tell the difference). http://www.poxyboggards.com/ Ye could also try "Shanties and Songs of the Sea"- the one with Johnny Collins featured, and there is also "Blow Boys Blow" with Ewan MacColl. Both are all a cappella shanties cds, spanning over some time so you may find a coupke in the time frame that ye be looking for.
  13. I played me horn, me fiddle, and me guitar for a few years when I be young (before I be 15, that is). Recently, I be takin' up the didgeridoo and gots a sweet bongo drum last yule. Ida
