    There is a small learning curve when on deck at Mutiny magazine. The reason for the slowness is the high quality of the graphics. We could not get around this, but with a little patience ye will find it becomes easier. We hope ye like our adventure and join us.     Order Of Leviathan Nominees

    So hard being in differnt places.

    Mates, and I use the word to it's fullest. I can not stress enough that we are an order and it is now up to us to make the way. Everyone of you get a vote for our newest members. Pirates Magazine wants to honor our new members every two years. I say we nominate now officially and in the second year the vote begins. Once again things go they way we wish. We are Pirates magazines Devil's Dozen but we are are own Order Of Leviathan. We bring in who we wish!!! Bilgemunky is a great addition, so is Capn Slappy and MAtt has my Vote.

    Last year we had the rings made by Skinny Dog Designs Hollywoods number one movie jewelry designers.The rings cost me 250.00 each x 14. This year they might be closer to 300.00 a piece. I can not afford to bear the cost of this again by myself. What do we do for the new members ?

    Mates , It's time to have it out and vote who's in charge of the Order what be our next course plotted. We have some fine recruits asking to come aboard , but first some blood needs to be shed and a Leader we need. A vote is called for mates a vote for the new Captain of the Order. They be brave and bold, willing to work long thankless hours :lol: for their brethren. (I know a thing or two about this and I'll nell ye tis not an easy job.) We be havin some fine recruits askin to join us and thars work to be done .Who wil step up to the helm, step now before we be steppin ye.

    I appreciate you trying to be proactive, but please get rid of the word Honorable.

    Having an Order of Leviathan fan page that is obviously ours is a great idea.

    But getting rid of the word Honorable will do a better job of what you're trying to accomplish in the search engines.

    In fact, if the Order of Set or whatever re-activated themselves and updated their page while we're using the word Honorable they would leap-frog ahead of us to the top of the search engines.

    I have written search engines before and I know how they work.

    So by adding the word Honorable to our name you're actually doing us a disservice, setting back the importance of our name as well as crippling any legal "fair use" rights to it we have.

    I've worked for Lawyers too.

    Sorry, but the word Honorable just doesn't belong and feels like a wimpy add-on.

    Stop being afraid of our name. The longer we use it (without the word Honorable attached) - the bigger the association will be to us. Our statistics will grow, our standing will climb, dwarfing whatever they have. Trust me they will disappear, be forgotten and buried.

    As much as I respect Jeff and see his point I really just feel we should keep Order of Leviathan. It does seem we cheapen our Order by being afraid of the public scrutiny.(When did pirates ever fear public scrutiny!) I can have my arm bend into agreeing by a vote if it goes that way.This is a pirate democrocy. But im my heart I feel we should not change the name it is what it is. I have allot of respect for the members and hope this becomes something fun and worth doing. I'm not worried if people think we are Devil Worshipers because all they ahve to do is meet us . Come on Do you really think that we are devil worshipers ? WE are the Order of Leviathan if you want you can reffer to it as the Honorable Order of Leviathan but we are the Order of Leviathan

    Ahoy Brethren (and Ladies), In an effort to be proactive, following Our decision to Keep our Orders name and make it our own, and to blow the other guys out of the cyber waters, replacing them in the search engine rankings, I have started a facebook page. It is a slight variation to the name, which i think will allow a transition (on google) to occur more smoothly. I am not suggesting that we change our name. If adding "The Honorable" Order of "The" Leviathan is an issue, let me know and I can take the fan page down.

    I know that some of you will ask, "If we already are on Pyracy.com in the common forum area as well as having our own members' forum, whay do we need to be on facebook?" The answer is simple, facebook is the largest social media platform on the web. It is the quickest way to gain a huge following, Google and the other search engines now follow discussions and activity on facebook, which contributes to rankings in the search engines, this is an extremely new practice for google, and is estimated to be one of the fastest ways to change your google ranking.

    Also today, facebook has added the "LIKE" button to fan pages. So now rather than feeling like you are making a major commitment by "becoming a fan" people can simply click "like". This change has been made to boost a fan pages supporters. Combined, these things is HUGE. Facebook is the largest Social Media Platform, Google now follows the activity on Facebook Fan Pages, and it is now easier for facebookers to become a supporter (fan). I lnvite you all to become fans, post comments, pictures, and dialog there as well as on Pyracy.com Simply remember though, this is an OPEN, PUBLIC platform. Do not discuss our Private Business on this fan Page. If someone becomes a fan, they can post and interact (much like on Pyracy.com open forum).

    This IS TOTALLY a move to be PROACTIVE and gain a huge group of supporters. -MacKay

    What Stynky says is true. Set not Satan, however read their Order's stated Purpose:

    Hold on a second MacKay, why are you adding Satan to the end here? I don't see it in the original text.

    For all I know, agents of the Black Flame (damn, another cool name), could mean anything from Ozzy Osbourne to some boss level video game character in World of WarCraft - it doesn't say Satan.

    Now just because a group of adolescents, bored with playing Dungeons and Dragons, got together in 1982 to create a web page that hasn't gotten any attention until we stumbled upon it, doesn't mean we shouldn't use the name.

    And why are you only asking this question/doing this web search now?

    I know I looked this up way back when - before I allowed myself to even be nominated or attach myself/persona to it. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Captain Sterling did a search of it early on as well.

    Though I love children,,,,, I couldn't eat a whole one! Me thinks it might be a maritime charity boats and things naughtical.

    Well I mean, seriously? If we change the name, what will be next? To change the name "Devil's Dozen" because it is associated with the devil? Mates, we all had friends and family come from all over the United States to see us inducted into this Order, and I am not aware of anyone yet complaining about the name. Mention the name Order of Leviathan or Devil's Dozen to any of our pirate peers and what do you think they will think of? I would dare say that they would think of us, not some crackpot satanists. Our peers think of us by that name, and isn't that what is most important anyway? The name is already in place, has been advertised and promoted by Pirates Magazine, the rings have been made, excellent t-shirts have been made...I just don't think to change it to something else would do it for me. I wasn't voted into the Order of Larry, Order of Legend, the Brethren of Mermaids, or any other such, I was voted into the Order of Leviathan, and I am proud of that. It is a badge of honor for me. We were all voted into the Order of Leviathan because people thought that we represent the best of the best. Let's prove to them that they were right. It would diminish it in my eyes if we changed our name. We're pirates! Let's do as Sterling says and take it and make it something good! Then we have taken the victory away from evil in the first place...

    agreed...as a real preacher/minister, I say let us make it our own and turn it round to an Order that represents the best of the best, who go out of their way to make this hobby better for ALL involved.

    I agree that this discovery is disturbing. Personally, I struggle with constant misperceptions of the pagan faith having others assume that there is a devil worshiping aspect when nothing could be further from the truth.

    With this new research coming to light, I do not think we need to be associated with devil worshiping of course, but it appears that there are other broader meanings as well.

    Very clearly defining ourselves and our purpose could likely prevent any problems, though.

    Perhaps to consider "Brethren of Leviathan" or Pirates of Leviathan"--getting away from "order" which in itself has religious overtones and connotations

    altho "the order of Larry" has a nice ring to it....

    I like the Oder of Larry but then what happens when we vote a Larry in ?We will never hear the end of it! Larry this Larry the Larry's order ;)I'm sick of Larry already!

    Aye I saw this months ago as well and was promptly concerned about what articles we were having to sign or what ever oaths we were going to have to take. Neither of which appeared at the induction ceremony unless I missed them due to being so late to the affair. But when speaking to Stynky, upon arriving, he said he had not seen anything regarding said articles either. So all worked out well to my advantage regarding any questionable wording... Stynky and several others were well aware that I would not be signing anything, even in jest, with any such ties to a satanic cult.

    Talderoy will have to speak up for this himself, but odds are the name of the order has nothing whatsoever to do with the satanic cult. Most likely just a name that has more punch then the Order of Mermaids/Mermen... :blink:

    I know fer certain that Conan of Cimmeria was not too impressed with the Order of Set....

    But the order does have some redeeming philosophical views: "common universal elements of this Serpentine Archetype - power, wisdom, renewal/rebirth, and liberation". Hey it's the Devil's Dozen, too. Mebbe we should carry pitchforks, preferring the Neptune context rather than good ol' Beelzebub.

    Actually it all boils down to who picked the name for the order in the first place and what his/her reasons for the name were... once they speak up then I would think some questions will be answered.

    If, for whatever reason, they are purposely associating it with such ideals as MacKay has posted, then it is for the Order to decide whether they wish to stick with it or make changes, if we are even allowed...as the Order is technically property of Pirates Magazine.

    Captain you hit the nail on the head, We are an Order and can vote on changing the name if necessary. We can call ourself O L ,The Order, Order of Legend or Order of Larry as it is not the name but the example we set. However I do not have anything to hide and think that changing or name is a set back . I am a pirate and if I'm a little mysterious it goes with the territory. I do not believe there are haters out there that can stand up to the character that this order has in it's members(They will just look stupid). I do however understand a businessman's concern in his public image.
