  1. Gio, Why, I welcomes Ye aboard. I kin tell ye, with no doubt what so ever, yer English is 100 times better than me own Turkish which happens t' be non existant! I hopes ye enjoy yer berth aboard o' this vessel as we rolls along. Dutch, Bosun o' th' "Meka"II Armed Brig, Homeport Beaufort, N.C.

  2. I sent the Pictures of Danielle and Kerigan up to Ol' Virginia and got word back yesterday. They were amazed! Thanks so much for all you do. Particularly risking damage to your expensive equipment by taking images of the Likes of myself and Madd'Og! To mention just a few.

  3. Quick Question, exactly how many doth a crew make me wonders?

Although it would indicate a group with a common goal usually with separate leaders I think of the Greatest Mariner of All. Joshua Slocum. The first man to Solo Circumnavigate. In his Book, "Sailing Alone Around the World", he continually refers to the calm or statisfaction in the foc's'l. Meaning all was peaceful among the Crew. Yet he was alone. That would make this clear as mud. Dutch

  4. Not sure if our crew is listed here or not. This here be Lucretia Lacey, Ships Boson of "Ye Pyrate Brotherhood" and the brigantine "Scorpion". We are located on the "Island of Long" (Long Island, NY). We be up for all things piratical, though aim toward lecturing, sharing of treasure for "wee one" (treasure hunts) and charitble works.

    Thank you,

Fer many the year I dwelt near by t' thee. A mere twenty mile east o' Montauk. That Isle "of the Little God", Mannasee. Though named for himself, the Dutchman Adrein Block. T'is true, on a clear night, from Mohegan Bluffs we could see the fires of the sentinals of the point of Montauk. Aye! And ye the same. Be ye asured, t'was in the cold o' winter or in the dry days of mid summer that it being clear enough t' see! Fore as well ye knows, thence is where we make the fog! Dutch.

  5. Beautiful! So glad you found them and they will continue to be applied in the manner for which they were built. These tool makers put so much into making a quality product that would stand the test of time. To see them use as decoration in some folksy decor is a crime! To see them drawing lond peels of Oak or the Mallet driving Locust Trunnels (treenails) into double sawn frames is what these beauties were meant to do. I'm so glad you guys have these tools and hope they continue to serve ye well! YMHS, Dutch

  6. Ahoy there Ravanos. We are based on the Treasure Coast and cover everywhere from Cocoa to West Palm and points inland to Orlando. In fact, we're at the Orlando Science Center in another week or two.

Visit http://www.piratesofthecoast.com to learn more about our crewe of misfits, cutthroats, rogues and wenches.

Aye, Hurricane. T'is th truth ye must be of th tellin'. Ye all is wot give misfits, cutthroats and rogues a bad name!

As fer me new shipmate, sez I, welcome aboard and bring yer dory!

  7. I remember the first time hefting that bar of gold. It was so much heavier than it looked! It was when first put on display across the street. They had all these pyramid stacks of silver bar everywhere and armed guards because they hadn't yet found a repository! I first met the Fisher Crew in the early '70s when they had the old Spanish Galleon Vessel. "Today's the Day!"

  8. Sure and fer truth and here it be! Master Foxe, it be known not just in Devon fer as stated, It were a HORSE! Mistress Di, Horse too tall, run too fast! Now as fer th' sheep. I've seen some enough to make a ewe turn! Oi,James! Now ye be knowin what ends up upon our beach from a false light. Saves the trouble o' goin out and fightin' fer it!

  9. Over the last fortnight I've heard vicious rumours that I have been tying a lantern to a cows bell collar, walking the cow around a haystack that I may lure ships on our reef in order of wrecking. To this I take great offence. This is a Bald Faced Lie! It was a Horse!

  10. T'is well t' hear o' me shipmates makin their homeports wi'out travail. To say it were a joy to have sailed wi' ye all t'would be a dis-service t' the feeling. Making the aquaintance o' so many I jus' be knowin in the Pub was all the more a pleasure. Stout hearts, brave shipmates, all!

Until next we sail again I say Huzzah(x3), YMHS, Dutch "X" (his mark)

  11. One way around the problem(which you had already hinted at) wound indeed be to use tackles....bbuuttt using and extra set would solve the problem of leverage. one pair would be located directly beneath the wheel and run straight aft until they were abaft the mizzenmast, at which point they would splay to tackles on either side of the ship, and then back abeam to the end of the tiller. Its pretty much the same configuration as normal, but with an extra "extension" back to the tiller . I hope that description was clear.......

man that was a simpler explanation........thanks double dutch!

Aye, think naught upon it, me friend.

  12. Were I to have the brass in pocket, truly would I part with it. For the opportunity to optain that part of history t'would be worth it. For, truth be told, I don't partake in the juice of the barley, nor hops nor other strong spirits or hard cider. The Tot, a Naval Tradition for so long, brought a shock when it was stopped. True it was a Black Day. The chance to own bonded Royal Navy Rum, Purveyed for the Tot but stored until now, well that would be a prize worth the cost.

  13. Has anyone read anything about Jacob Cohen Henriques or his brother, Moses Cohen Henriques. Moses Cohen was said to have taken the largest dollar value in silver from the Spanish. He later became an advisor to Morgan. There was also Samuel Palache. These were all Sephardic Jews that were retaliating for the Inquisition. They were in the New World when the Inquisition began or like others were "conversos" who maintained their religeon secretly. I've been reading a book by Edward Kritzler called "Jewish Pirates of the Caribbean" and finding it very interesting.

  14. Beautiful work. It's cool to see a young person interested as well. We have a Powder Monkey aboard of the "Meka"II named "Slowmatch". He's a sponge for knowledge of this history, ship handling and marlinespike seamanship. Not video games! I just finished a first attempt at a knotwork with soft leater incorporated. I'm pleased for a first attempt but I see the mistakes I wish to avoid on "model #1".

  15. Too funny!

I do expect you to lord over the new contestants that you are the three-time champ!

Perhaps even lead off with a demo to give them something to aspire to? Or you could be one of the judges, which would seem fitting, given your legendary stature in the event.

You're much too valuable to us to let you be fodder for the shooting competition.

    -- Hurricane

HA!...dont ask some of me crewe...presently they may disagree with you!!!

i am still deciding which way the wind faires regarding my attendance this year....but a Live Shoot off the Wolfe sounds damn temting indeed

Avast !! Mssr. deDogge', It dont bring t' me mind th lengths somes will go to t' avoid standin' an ol' shipmate to a flaggon nor a tot. Ye, sir, as wot would take th' pudding! Why I went from Public House to Apothacary yet yerself would not be found. Well, sez I, there's some wot can't be found wots don't want bein' found, sez you! I will have my justice, sir! I wants me drink! Dutch o' th "Meka"II
