  1. For some, it's not too soon to get started on your garb. They have very specific requirements for this event. For instance, women aren't allowed to shoot or carry weapons unless they can look like a man from 10 feet away.

    Here are the garb requirements:

As for weapons, Queen Annes are out, as are Brown Besses and later guns. Same with swords, though there is some latitude on that.

So much to do (as always) and so little time to do it (as always).

    - Hurricane

Thanks Hurricane, I just need to find pictures to go with the visual aspect of my mind

  2. Are there any of you all on facebook?

I was thinking of making a group there, if you all like. A place to post dates and stuff, incase the forum drops or something. Also another way to add one another as friends in the myriad of social networks that are out there.

    Good idear? Bad one?

Dammit Sam, there's too many bloody mybooks an facepages out there?

  3. I am tired, an worn out. UNlike ye fair lads and lasses who got t' go a piratin' this weekend. I was stuck in a rather stressful environment. That bein' a play I agreed to do under one director-who left...and now I am stuck under another one who is by far one of the worst out there. Add my school work to that (Though I be nigh done) and I have a cocktail for bein drained.

But soon ye get to come to Florida and we we go Japenese garden touring, and kareoking, and to The Field where we will have BLACKSMITHS and all will be right with the world!

This is true, and this is keepin' me sane at the moment

I look sad, because my proton pack broke

  6. If my memory is correct, the event was on the weekend of March 7th to 8th... So you should be fine there... but i will check the pamphlet I got from William when I get home tonight to make sure.... Jessi, I'm not sure how long of a drive it will be for you, but if yopu are within 4 or 5 hours of St. Augustine, you should be able to make this event without taking time off... I only need to book time off as it is an 11 hour drive.

Rev. Sam, it would be great if you were around and could come out for this one!

Please not I orginally posted Feb. 7th and 8th... This event is in March and NOT February.

Awesome. Yeah I should be good as this runs through my Spring breakage and I cannot think of a better way to spend it

  7. There is actually a really good book about this war. I think I still have it from my American history course, but it details one of the Micmac and french raids down on New England, as well as the taking of prisoners. I'll see if I can find it in my study

"Captors And Captives: The 1704 French And Indian Raid on Deerfield " by: Evan Haefeli and Kevin Sweeney On Amazon

I beleive that is the one... I picked up my copy for $7 from the local local overstocked book reseller, if you have an overstock book seller nearby you may want to check that out. Most of the information from that book was derived from the first hand account written by Deerfield's minister, which is also available in print (but not as easy to find)... I can't recall the author's name or the proper title for that one at the moment.

Dutch, if you're paying attention to this thread, this is the book where I found references to Capotes in our period.

Exactly. That is the one. I found it to be a great read. A little dry in a few places, but overall wonderful
