  1. I see the second one. What the blazes is goin' on with these pics?
  2. I be usin' webshots, mate. An' like I said, I seen 'em fine when I previewed the post an' when I looked back at it the first time. I'm gettin' frustrated!
  3. I can't get that pic ta come up, either. I'm really becoming annoyed!
  4. Blast it! I can't get 'em ta come up fer me, neither. Grrrr. They showed up fine when I previewed the post.
  5. Fer any who are interested in such things, I have read many descriptions (including official court testimonies) of a pirate being so heavily armed that the observer was astonished that he could stand under the weight. I proceeded ta pack me baldric 'til there was no more room fer another weapon at all! The followin' be the result: Too bad I only got the two hands!
  6. This is how I carry my pirate weapons. Usually I go a bit lighter than this, but just to show what could be done.....
  7. I've decided that I want to buy an actual Queen Anne flintlock, but am undecided as to whether I should get it outright, or buy a kit and put it together myself. I own dozens of bladed weapons, but not a single firearm, so I've no idea what the pros and cons would be.
  8. I have personally made what I call a "boarding rig" consisting of a leather belt worn over the shoulder that holds a sabre, dagger, kukri knife, two pistols in holsters, and a short cutlass on the back. I have a wider piece of leather right at the shoulder to distribute the weight over more area. The sabre is sheathed and held in an Elizabethan frog that is attached to the rig at hip height. The dagger is kept upside down at the shoulder like a military pilot's knife. The holsters for the pistols are simple leather tubes attached to the front of the shoulder belt at a near verticle angle over my belly. The other two blades are held by straps to the back of the rig. Its really overkill for long term wear, but I had read so many court testimonies describing weapons covering the boarders that I had to make it and try it out. I'll post a picture of the ghastly thing soon, if you'd like.
  9. If'n ye got equipment ta do grindin' an' shapin' on metal (or ye know somebody that does), ye might consider makin' yer own from a standard machete blade. That's what one o' mine is. U.S. military issue, ground a little on the back from the tip down about 3 inches ta exagerate the curve a bit, then a bell guard an' new handle added. It's about 2 1/2 feet from tip ta pommel. Startin' with a workin' blade like that, ye know the steel ain't gonna fatigue quickly.
  10. Me wife an' I each 'ave a cockade on our cocked hats. Hers is what I refer to as a "rosette" or rose cockade. Mine is a bow. The rosette cin be made jes' by takin' a bit o' ribbon (couple o' inches should be plenty) an' stitchin' along one edge an' pullin' the ends o' the stitch so's it turns in a circle. Then ye cin put a button er some such through it. The bow's a bit more trouble.
  11. I have a capped pipe that I picked up at a local smoke shop, but haven't seen one since. I was wonderin' if anyone knows of an online source ta get one. Nothin' fancy, just an apple bowl with a straight or bent stem. Not a garante or whatever the ones are called with the long stem that goes straight down from the mouthpiece to the bowl. I'd actually fancy carvin' me own, but any help would be appreciated.
  12. I've found a little problem in collectin' these buggers: the crew (in the original set more than Cromson Coast) are actually far more rare than they are accordin' ta the rarity list. Anybody else have this problem?
  13. The shop I go to in Lee's Summit sells boxes fer $99 plus tax. I'm tryin' ta get full sets an' I'm also workin' on gettin' ta be a Privateer fer the company. Gotta get the shop owner registered at the Wizkids site, though. My favorite tactic: get a big ship with broadsides attack an' a captain, an' a smaller ship with 3 S moves an' 4 cargo with a helmsman. Cruise over by the enemy's home island with the big guns an' zip around with the other fer treasure. If ye can't get enough treasure back without gettin' hit, ye kin still take out his er her ships 'cause they gotta come home ta claim the treasure as theirs.
  14. I bought a box o' Crimson Coast an' wound up with 3/4 or more o' the set as well as plenty ta trade with. I got the Roanoke an' two American Captains.
  15. I'm goin' the first week o' May. Stayin' at the Stratosphere an' I plan ta ride the 'coaster on it, though not any o' the other rides. I don't care fer the straight up an' down things or the side ta side things an' I absolutely hate those free turnin' things like the octopuss. I'll be seein' the show at TI, an' plan ta go up an' down the strip at least once. I wish I had enough disposable income ta play Texas Hold 'em, but even in a low game, it ain't a good idea ta come in with less than $500. I read that in a book, but I also play fer fun (bettin' imaginary money), an' the advice seems pretty sound. Me wife an' I actually plan ta spend most o' the week out o' town at places like Death Valley, South Rim Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon (edited to be spelled correctly, like p'y'racy pub ), Zion, etc.
  16. By the way, here's a link to the publisher if such a game interests you: http://www.greenronin.com/cgi-bin/product....cgi?prodid=1018
  17. I've been running a Skull and Bones campaign that has lost players to real life issues over time. I'm down to two players right now and only one of them is an active participant, which owing to the scope of the setting makes for a boring game. I've been looking for new players in my area, but no one seems to have heard of the game. Am I the only one that bought this book?
  18. If you only have "Card Shops" in your town, you're unlikely ta find this game 'less ya travel somewheres bigger. Oh, they'll carry Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, an' mebe Magic, but anythin' else ain't gonna be easy ta find in a joint like that. Find the closest place that carries miniature wargames, an' ye'll likely hit the jackpot there. Good luck ta all o' ye that are havin' a hard time with findin' these.
  19. "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"? That one's so culture specific that ye gots ta watch it four er five times ta really get what's goin' on. As ta a couple o' the later suggestions, I have a hard time (ha, ha) gettin' me wife ta watch "those kind" of movies with me. What I like ta watch, she thinks is discustin', an' what she wants ta watch, I think is borin'. Since that's just about the only thing we can't agree on, I'd say we do better than most.
  20. Yep, that be me. Loved havin' dinner with you guys. Hope ye can make it back this comin' season.
  21. Well, my rig's pretty good. Bought it less than a month ago. I gots a AMD processor, 512 mb RAM, 160 gig hard drive, 16 x dvd rom, an' 64 mb video. I ain't tried shuttin' evrthin' down an' runnin' it, but it shouldn't require all that, should it? I still just get through the openin' movie an' pick my political affiliation, after which is another movie showin' the mutiny when I gets kicked ta me desktop.
  22. I bought a copy with me new computer, an' it don't work right. I installed it, started the game, an' things went smoothly 'til I got to the other side o' the mutiny. Then it just shuts down with a error message that I don't understand, 'cause I ain't enough of a techie. Does anybody know enough ta lend me a hand 'ere?
  23. That sounds great! I also want them to release "Against All Flags." Anyone know if that's in the works?
