  1. Cleared out everything I could to make room for the 75 Chaparral Fishing boat I'm working on. Other than that tools and my moms old furniture
  2. Finished two Clive Cussler books from the library. Skeleton Coast (Oregan Files sieries) and Spartan Gold (A Fargo Adventure) Loved em both but then I always love Cussler's books.
  3. Lets see knocked out a couple more Dollar Tree books, Nixon and Kissinger, good read but really after reading about J. Edgar Hoover nothing seems to shock me any more. Indeed it seems that Nixon was small time compared to many other notables of the era. Guess it's only illegal if you get caught. A Crack in the Edge of the World, A geologist looks at the 1906 San Fransico earthquake or really looks at the geology and related science surounding it with a goal of linking it to James Lovelock's Gaia concept. A little slow but to be honest like all books on geology (as well as astronomy) if you need to feel small and insignifigant here you go. Note as sarcastic as that sounds I must admit I rather enjoy the feeling. SHRUGS The Man Who Made Lists, A biography of Peter Mark Roget quite good actually the author definatley has an affinity for the man and its quite a good story.
  4. Ok first off I'll apologize for the fact there is no link here but my BB doesn't do copy and paste. I found a reuters article on the yahoo science news RSS feed about the remains of a two year old female dog from the wreck of the Mary Rose being on display at Britians Cruft Dog Show. Pretty neat little article. I had thought of posting it in Twill but figured it may be better suited here. A google search on cruft hatch will bring it up but you'll have to look for it.
  5. Warning O.O.P. Three books that indirectly look at this topic but usually from the view of privateers and post GAOP. That being said they may prove to be thought provoking if not informative. The Influance of Sea Power Upon History The Confederate Privateers And Sea of Gray Of these Sea of Gray deals most with economics. Sorry for going oop but such is my thought process or what passes for it.
  6. Look on the bright side at least there was no need to declare a leap second! Aren't atomic clocks grand
  7. I finished Learning to Play God the last of my abriged books today. A good enough read but unlike the other books in this collection it left me a little short though this may be due more to my lack of intrest in moderen medicine than anything else. I have gotten bored with Dick Sands and I think I may be a little burnt out on Verne since none of the remaing titles seem to impress me much. I'll start my search for a new title again tonight then see where that takes me.
  8. Quit the cigs about two years ago went soley to the pipe and cigars for a while but then ran out about 4 months ago but I ran out of pipe tobacco and raided the wifes cigs. Haven't been able to quit again.
  9. Finished Verne's Michael Strogoff definetly a top 3 for Verne IMO. Despite my earlier post I've been listening to Dick Sands Boy Captin not one of Verne's moon stories. I finished Sea of Glory. I must admit it was a great read for a non fic book. Very enjoyable and I definatley no more about the US ex. ex. I've started an abriged book Learning to Play God good so far.
  10. I listened to an NPR piece on Provnce some time back. I have yet to read the book but thepeice was fascinating. I finished with Jules Verne's Michael Strogoff this evening. A great read (or in my case listen as the librivox reader was excellent. ) I don't know yet which of his books I'll be downloading next but most likely it will be one of his moon books. (As close to the moon as we will be for awhile I fear). I have started Sea of Glory by Nathaniel Philbrick. (Author of In the Heart of the Sea. ) I got this book in hardback at Dollar Tree so if your looking to save some coin...
  11. After finishing Journey I decided to give Island a whirl given Missions comments. No doubt a fun book but it hasn't jumbed ahead of Around the World in 80 Days on my list. I also finished an abriged J Edgar Hover biography which although a page turner left me nauses due to its subjet ( and here I thought Dick Chenny was sick!) I am now 2/3 through with Michael Strogoff also by Verne. This book so far is a top three contender for Vernes best
  12. I love the old cartoons but I also dig the Hanna Barbera stuff. Scooby Doo, Pixie and Dixie, Motor Mouse, Cartoon Olympics, etc.. I miss Boomerang but I'm also on antenna tv the PBS cartoons are beloved by my son though ( I love Between the Lions). Curious George has gotten much better and Dinosour Train is fun. Glad the little bugger is into learning shows though. I love the old cartoons but I also dig the Hanna Barbera stuff. Scooby Doo, Pixie and Dixie, Motor Mouse, Cartoon Olympics, etc.. 13. Knocked out Vernes 800 leagues on the Amazon farking great read are listen as it were. Next up a journey to the interior of the earth.
  14. I started the Jules Verne book The Blockade runners but got bored 2 chapters in. I switched to Five Weeks in a Ballon which rocked. I'm curently about halfway through 800 Leagues on the Amazon which is excellent so far. All these are librivox audibooks by the way. Hard to read and drive lol
  15. Just finished Jules Verne's the Master of the World. Good book good reader on Librivox (I'm pretty much doing free audio books exclusively now that I've caught up on TWIT episodes)
  16. Currently 36 in the csra. Rains comein' in keeping the temp up when it leaves on Fri. we'll drop down into the twenties. Anybody got some extra kerosene? LOL
  17. Ok been gone a minute but I've got a new trackball for the BB and I'm good to go. Recently I've read Write it when I'm gone, A collection of off the record conversations with Gerald Ford. A very good read, not a bio or a policy overview but possibly the best glance into the mans mind written. Liberty, The life and times of six women in revolutionary France. Again a great read and both these books came from the dollar tree. Cruel Doubt (abriged) standard true crime murder read with a strange D&D hangup No Minor Chords (abriged) fun look into Hollywoods music from 48 to 63. An Arctic Mystery by Jules Verne (Audio Book from Librivox) not Vernes best but good and the reading is ok
  18. Sitting in the James Brown Arena waiting on the rodeo to start. Not my first choice for a sat night out but its the father in laws birthday so I've been in Augusta for 8 hrs as even though its the pop in laws b_day its the mother in laws shopping trip! LoL

  22. The answer is"Hatari". I thought I'd given it away with the "DANGER" hint. Oh well quess I'm odd. LOL Here goes my next shot, (Actor#1)" My glasses foged up but I'm pretty sure I got a piece of one!" (Actor#2) "Ours or theirs?" Now I no longer have this movie and google isn't helping me so just in case my memory doesn't serve here's an opening hint. Uber famous b/w WWII film.
  23. Nope that's not it, here's another hint or more precisley another quote from the movie. "Plasma isn't working I need whole blood!" Any rules on when to give up the answer and post anew?
  24. Ok no quesses so here's a hint. For those who've been around awhile I've abused this movie twice before I belive. For those who are somewhat newer DANGER
