Is it a parrot? An eagle? A phoenix? Everyone sees a different bird in this image. Either way, this is hand-carved leather, the image painstakingly carved in before the leather is dyed. In this flackett, I decided to let the natural beauty of the leather shine through, and did not dye or paint the eagle. After the background was dyed, I sealed the leather with a clear lacquer on the outside to protect the natural coloration. The inside is sealed, as is the case with all of my flacketts,with beeswax.
