Just a heads up!! The Portland Pirate fest is going to attempt to break the world record once more. http://www.portlandpiratefestival.com/ And members of the Jade Dragon crew will be back to fight in the fight ring, help out the organisers and do what we've do best! Help make the atmosphere and reconnect with Brethren. Portland has been very good to us and we are looking forward to returning and once more not only reconnecting but helping out. That electric tingling in the air...the hopeful, expectant gleam in the eyes of children...it can only mean one thing: It is Talk Like A Pirate Day Eve once more! Children and adults the world over will go to bed with dreams of rum and slaughter in their heads, hoping that Santaaaaargh Claus will visit their homes with his sack full of grenados, quicksilver and severed fingers. But don't forget, right before bed, to leave out a plate of ships' biscuit and laudanum for your Late Night Visitor, or he'll trash your house and torch the car before heading back to his enchanted castle in the Lesser Antilles.

Sigh, I was forced to return to the real world from a weekend in 1565. It was the celebration of the 445th anniversary of St. Augustine and the landing of Pedro Menendez De Avila. Here are a few photos and a video from the weekend. It was great to see everyone again and I even got a little weaving done :) Much thanks to Sgt Johnson and Mia (The Wench) for making it such a fantastic time. They were both working their backsides off to make everything happen! Photo Link From Menendez Landing Video of the cannon fire welcoming Menendez

September 19, 2010 A sleepy Spanish fort nestled on the banks of the Mississippi shrouded in the pre dawn mists. Out of the harbor a cannon sounds and the world erupts in flames. As the mist lifts a ship is seen and upon the mast flies the dreaded roger of the pirate ship The King's Revenge. Did it happen? Prolly not, but in our world, the Pyrates have finally come to the City of Kings, Memphis. We want to invite all to a fun filled family friendly day on the banks of the Mississippi presented by the Desert Rose Studios and MidSouth Buccaneers ship The King's Revenge to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day. This thread will be locked. I will update this with important or notable information regarding this event as the information becomes available. So far... Pirate re-enactors will be taking over the Santa Maria in downtown Columbus Ohio for the weekend. We will have access to the ship starting at about 6:00 PM Friday night, through Sunday at about 5:00 PM (perhaps 6:00 PM). Accommodations All participants in this event are welcome to "camp" on the ship Friday and/or Saturday nights at your leisure. Space is fairly limited, so smaller more compact sleeping arrangements are preferred (please avoid using extra large or "King" size air mattresses). Privacy is pretty much n…

Avast, me hearties!!! International Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept. 19) - the perfect date for the Sunken Bones Society "Buccaneer Bash 2009," Held at Red & Jerry's in Denver. Our MC was the ever-entertaining Cap'n Jack of the Pirates of Ill Repute. The place was awash in scoundrels, rogues, rascals, ne'er-do-wells, 'really bad eggs,' and villains. There was lively music, costume contests, a "Talk Like a Pirate" competition (of course,) lots of swag and shiny objects for sale, and - of course - a full bar with lots o' RUM!!! I made an appearance, to plunder, toss back some rum, and draw caricatures. I met new friends, reconnected with old friends (some lost at se…
