February 25 - 28, 2010 | Shanties 2010 Cracow, POLAND We are very pleased to announce that Bounding Main will make its third European musical destination Shanties 2010 in Cracow, Poland. Of all European nations it can be said that Poland has the greatest enthusiasm across all generations for the spirit of maritime music. The welcome receptions for American performers is legendary and we're thrilled to have the opportunity to entertain there for their 29th annual festival. We will be delighted to join our friends Banana Boat, with whom we performed at Festival Maritim in Germany in the summer of 2008. For more info on this event please see: http://www.shanties.pl

February, 2010 | Pilgrimage to Execution Dock London, ENGLAND UNITED KINGDOM The Pilgrimage to Execution Dock is an annual social gathering for pirate re-enactors in and around London. We gather in costume and visit some site of Pirate, or Maritime interest, before making our way to The Prospect Of Whitby Pub at Wapping, the site of Execution Dock, where, amongst others, Captain Kidd was hanged. There we drink a toast to those who have danced the Hempen Jig. This year we have arranged to put on a fund raising display for the Cutty Sark. The Cutty Sark, built in 1869 is the last surviving 19th Century Tea Clipper. In May 2007, whilst undergoing a major renovation…

For those flying into Chicago for RF 7 (I think it's 7) Feb 4-7 2010, Southwest Airlines has announced a 72 hour sale, going thru sometime this Friday (10/30/09), with fares as low as $25 one way. I can fly round trip from Minneapolis to Chicago for $50, so I am SO THERE! A Caveat - Southwest flies into Midway airport, which is a hell of a long ways from the Westin Chicago North Shore, where the convention will be held, so there will be some transportation costs involved. Maybe if enough of us arrived at Midway at around the same time, we could rent a van and car pool to the hotel?

I just got back from the Winter Market put on by Dave Mantz. I had a good time. Not too many people came out this year but it was still fun. I got a chance to touch base with the lovely people from Reconstructing History and a few fellow sword makers. That was fun. There were plenty of beautiful fire arms. I love the engraved muskets. I didn’t have much time to browse but I did get a chance to catch up with a lot of people. This is the last year that they will be having the event in that location and maybe ever. It all depends on if another place is available during that part of the year. I talked to Dave quite a bit about another he wants to put on in august and is look…
