  1. ....and a dead rat! Oh geeeez the smell! Must be under the hay, can't find it anywhere else. UGH!!! Bo
  2. Does anyone know where the image showing all those buccaneers in one group is? The ones I find are just partials showing onesies and twosies, (the three with the "greasy hair", the two with the ball-caps on, etc.). There is one fellow kind of in the back tending a fire and possibly stirring a kettle and this guy has his long hair down, a few days' growth of beard.... anyhow, is there a good view of the entire assemblage anywhere around? Thanks for any guidance in the search. Bo
  3. My workbench, toolboxes, hardware, what's left of my electrician stuff, 2006 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100 , 2003 Chevy S-10 Blazer 4x4 ,1999 GMC Sierra Xtra cab 4x4 , air compressor, lumber (to finish the garage I just added 9ft across the whole 24ft span), 4 Contico Tuff-Bin boxes full of my tents and overflow reenacting gear (that wont fit in the 12X16 shed with all the rest of it), and 75 bales of top quality brome hay that wouldn't fit in the hay barn. I need more space for more stuff!!! (Oh, and three kayaks when they aren't stored in the horse trailer). Whew, that made me tired. Bo
  4. Been to hell and back three times m'self of late, perhaps we missed each other in transit? Welcome back sir. Bo
  5. Being a loner and naturally given to lurk in the shadows I often fail to speak to others. Not trying to be stand-offish, just my nature to be quiet, and listen. I find after more than 50 years around humans I tend to learn more when I speak less. Looking forward to this season and rejoining the family of "strange" people that makes this hobby what it is! Bo
  6. Here here! I am a blade monger my own self and carry three on a daily basis in the modern world, each with it's own function. You will see me with no less than two blades with any kit I sport for events. One of those I carry daily in all aspects of my life, whether eventing or working, or just relaxing at the homestead is a custom made little utility knife from a Green River "Ripper" blade. Makes an excellent all-around knife for all purposes. I eat with it, field dress game, cut rope, craft leather, etc. I am never without it. Bo
  7. Not so true about the ghost thing, as I refused to believe in that nonsense for most of my life yet I have seen "things" that I cannot reasonably explain more times than I care to relate. But Rackham's bones on POTC!!!???!!! That's a good one. Bo
  8. This is how I hope to be remembered by the family in this crazy hobby. Thanks William!
  9. Oh the shame of it all! I had to take three showers and use perfume too... I will never be the same again. I hope to get some shots up soon of my seaman impression with my new Mad Pete slops! Bo
  10. Well, I tried getting out but for various reasons I still remain entrenched in the hobby after all I have done to the contrary. I recently went to Fort de Chartres for the April trade faire with my itinerant grinder impression. There are some fantastic photos but I cannot figure out how to get them here from the FB site they are hosted on. The photographer for some of those is Thang Ho Photography, and if you find the album between all the drag-queens, mimes, and WWII reenactor ones, keep scrolling down and there are three or four more of my impression by a lady photographer, Ericha Johanning also. Not having any luck in getting a link or shortcut up here, but if you want to see them try the thanghophotography on facebook and hopefully you will see them there. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fort-de-Chartres-Historic-Site/561377117310205 Bo
  11. Well, that stinks, but understandable given the current economic state of the nation. Maybe I will be able to attend a 2017 event if there is one. Looking at getting out of this nursing home business and getting a warehouse/driver position with the local electrical/plumbing supply house I have done business with since 1997. Bo
  12. Found my copy paper notes on this, the description is around pp. 173-176 with the description of the Buccaneer gun and related info. Bo
  13. Wasn't there a good description of these in Pere Labat's memoirs? I couldn't find it in my research folders, I thought I had made a copy some time past but it is missing. Anyone remember the discussion thread on this? I tried the buccaneer project and period descriptions but not having any luck so far. (Maybe I just can't see?) Bo
  14. I'll have the Plunder, hold the cherries. Yeah, still hangin' around the back door from time to time. Growin' old ain't fer sissies that's fer sure! Gonna try to be more active after the Civil War "Surrender" event in June. I been thinkin' about goin' out Josey Wales fashion instead of lining up and stacking arms with all the rest. Seems like somebody needs to be the fly-in-the-ointment, so why not me? Bo
  15. I never did make a seaman's' ditty-bag, but I have all my gear in a "New Invented Haversack of 1776" type bag made of oil-cloth. It is a helluva bag and almost too much for me to carry these days. I will try and lay everything out for a photo even though it isn't "seaworthy" as it were (unless used as an anchor!). Bo
  16. Wheel lock in action: http://vid61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/CaptBo/MVI_0487_zpseaaccdb0.mp4 http://vid61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/CaptBo/MVI_0712_zpsjudyfi7w.mp4 Hope this works. Bo
  17. I still haunt the waters here from time to time. I Remember your contributions well. Good to hear from you sir. Bo (Class of '06 I believe?)
  18. Two Years Before the Mast and Other Voyages, R.H. Dana American Revolution, Writings from the War for American Independence ( A timeline of primary source documents from diaries, letters, and journal entries from Library of America). Recollections of a Maryland Confederate Soldier, McHenry Battlefields of the South, Observations of an English Combatant, Thomas Robinson (Time-Life Civil War collection, but originally published in 1864) Browsing through each one a little at a time. Bo
  19. I'm not sure I have much of interest to trade these days. What are ya lookin' for? Working steady at a nursing home though so I can trade "legal tender". Not even sure I will ever get to use a pair of slops, but "just-in-case" it would be nice to have some. (I just hurt all of the time and nothing is very much fun anymore). Bo
  20. I would like to find someone willing to make a set for me as I can no longer do it myself. Several health problems combine to make sewing too painful and I can't see worth a crap anymore. Bo
  21. Have you tried the Disney Store website? http://www.disneystore.com/characters/tinker-bell-and-fairies/mn/1000054/ http://www.disneystore.com/home-decor/mn/1000207/#callURL=%252Fdisney%252Fstore%252FDSIProcessWidget%253FcatalogId%253D10002%2526langId%253D-1%2526storeId%253D10051%2526templateId%253DWidth-3_4-ProductList%2526widgetName%253Ditems_listing%2526widgetObjId%253DobjItemsListing%2526sectionName%253DRight%2526initialN%253D1000207%2526navNum%253D96%2526pageCmdName%253DproductListPage%2526numDim%253D%2526N%253D1000207%2526zoneName%253DDisneyNavigationPageZone%2526Nao%253D96&sort=sortProductsMostPopular My sister has worked for Disney 22-23 years now, I'll see what she can come-up with. You may just need to find a lamp and figurine separately and make your own though, Disney stuff is astronomically expensive sometimes. She got me a set of figurines of the POTC ride which include the "Red-headed Wench for sale" and the Pyrate auctioneer. I don't know what she actually paid for it but I know it was more than I could ever afford to pay for something like that. Bo
  22. Good work Capt. Jim! I never made a WTF flag, as we never were the flag-flying types of rogues. Maybe we should have, it might have given us something to rally around. Now we're almost all dead and gone so no need for one now. Bo
  23. OK, not pyratey but I finally got the only photo known in existence of me in a damn Yankee suit: In my defense; during the late period of the Civil War in Mizzourah (1864) all male residents were required to enroll in militia companies regardless of whether or not they had fought for the South, been paroled, released for medical reasons, (etc), in order to keep track of former Confederates. These were known by Union people as "Paw-paw militia." Mostly they just went out on circular "patrols" (but couldn't seem to find any rebels), or fired a few desultory shots and surrendered to any Confederate forces they encountered, or just took off with their militia issued equipment and re-joined their Confederate brethren. So that was our portrayal for this event. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! Bo
  24. I completely forgot to mention the coffee beans too! I am ashamed to admit I do not have a grinder....yet! This gives me the "reason" and "incentive"(excuses) I need to convince the missus to let me get one of those brass Turkish grinders I've wanted for years. Thanks one more time! Bo
