  1. No plans set for now, I've been keeping busy with school and theatre. We'll see what happens. I think I have to get some more information on that Blackbeard Fest you mentioned, Hampton is only an hour from where my sister and her husband live.
  2. You've all probably forgotten me. I started on here during the summer, then school started, and I got quite busy and didn't have much time for piracy. Anyway, just wanted to say hi! FTPI is coming up soon, isn't it? I was planning on coming this year, but stuff got in the way. Well, next year with luck. Take pictures, make me jealous, be safe. ~Amira
  3. Thank you, D B Couper, (love the name by the way. Clever.) but I've already found out all I can from the official site. Thanks for taking the time to respond though!
  4. Thank you both very much for your help!
  5. While agreeing with the above statements on the stupidity of pointing firearms at people, unloaded or not, I feel a need to mention that a sword is never unloaded. That was the first thing my fencing master drilled into my head. He would have us slice plastic water jugs in half with supposedly dull swords on occasion to demonstrate that a dull sword can still be deadly. For the past 4 years I have lived by the rule "if there is the slightest possibility of a bump, the pointy stays away," and no one has gotten hurt.
  6. I've never been to the Fort Taylor Pyrate Invasion, but I've managed to convince my mother to let me go this year, and I have a few questions. 1. I'm interested in staying on site in a tent, but would that be allowed because I'm not currently attached to any crew? Assuming the answer to number 1 is "yes"... 2. What's the deal with cooking fires? Again, never been there, I don't know how all this works. 3. Would I need to get my kit approved by someone before I would be allowed to participate? I've seen posts about minimum standards for garb, but again, I don't know how this works. 4. I know I had more questions, but I can't remember them at this time. I will probably end up either editing this post or asking later on. Thanks in advance!
  7. I bloody love you guys already! Awesome picture!
  8. Hello! I suppose this is the bit where I introduce myself. I'm Amira (that's the work name, I won't tell you the real one because this is the internet and there are weird people on the internet.) I fell in love with piracy over 3 years ago and started putting together garb just for fun. Now my garb has gotten to the "are you supposed to be in an institution?" looks in the supermarket. I am really interested in doing some reenacting, but "normal" theatre has been getting in the way. I've done a couple of educational piratey things with my fencing instructor, but not much else. And that's classical fencing, mind you, not sport. I can use a cutlass properly, as well as a few other weapons. I'm super excited to have found a group of fellow pirates and am very grateful that, after 3 years, the internet led me here!
