Lady Alyx Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I always fancied those beautiful Antique hand carved headboards and footboards for a bed and then throw a bunch of feather bedding on top with silks and brocades for top bedding and covers. Hmmm crystal chandalier with some drops of rubies and emeralds hanging from them. Hand carved armoire and dresser table with 2 small hurricane lamps with also some glass droplets and hand painted roses. A big chest in the corner with beautiful gowns and bustiers. One of those globes that opens up into a bar stocked with my favorite rum. Beautiful thick carved Persian rugs with pinks, creams, green and magenta. Ornate Iron candlebra in a corner. Sigh...well I think of more I will come back and add. Oh and of course a chest of jewels/jewelry. ~~~~Sailing Westward Bound~~~~ Lady Alyx
CrazyCholeBlack Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 A hammock n a sea chest. Hey, I'm a simple pirate, none o that fancy stuff fer me. I actually did sleep in a hammock fer a while when I was younger. Mighty comfortable in the hot summers so long as it's not one of those rope ones where your arms can fit through the netting. Red-Handed Jill Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Jack's and my bedroom is already done in a sort of New Orleans voodoo motif. You can't see them, but there is a lot of skull art and some ornate wooden chests in the room.

Patrick Hand Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 A hammock n a sea chest. Hey, I'm a simple pirate, none o that fancy stuff fer me. Yah... then ye don't have ter be makein' up th' bed every morning..... None o' that fancy stuff.... just a place ter sleep..... Course.... if I had such a nice (kinda sexy) bed such as Jack an' Red Handed Jill have..... maybe I would'nt be sleepin' alone as much....

Now Mr. Hand, I've seen tha pictures o yer tent set up n I'll say, even though it'll get me in a heap o trouble I'm sure, that it looks like a mighty fine place ta spend tha night. LadyBarbossa Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Hmm.... I adore that idea with the bed. I have dreamed the same for many, many years. The decor of the bed and room can be very elaborate. But I will agree... to enjoy the company of another within that bed, sexually or not, makes the room warmer and far more enjoyable. But... a carved, wood bed with the valances... the old style with "treasure" all around... candles... Highly charming. It's late at night and I find it hard to explain my pirate room. ~Lady B Tempt Fate! an' toss 't all t' Hell!" "I'm completely innocent of whatever crime I've committed." Captain Midnight Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Definitely a sea chest...and a piratess... "Now then, me bullies! Red-Handed Jill Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I should take a photo of the whole bed. It's one of those tall beds - we have small wooden chests on each side that we use as steps to get into it. And we've since hung some Indonesian skull art on the headboard area and a skull spirit above the bed (basically a skeleton with wings - also Indonesian.) The whole bedroom is draped in dark red curtains and painted dark red in the foyer leading to it. A couple of friends stopped by once who had never seen the bedroom. Bob took one look at it and said, "That's quite a den of iniquity you've got there."
Patrick Hand Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Bob took one look at it and said, "That's quite a den of iniquity you've got there." Somehow, I can hear Bob saying that....... I'm sure, that it looks like a mighty fine place ta spend tha night. Dang.... I like th' sound O' that......
Captain Midnight Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Those are NICE looking bedrooms! "Now then, me bullies! Rogue Mermaid Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I have that skull with the black roses too Jill. I left the batteries in mine while I was storing it and now it no longer plays, "The Funeral March Funk". Very disapointing....
Red-Handed Jill Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Ours still works. Cracked me up the first time I saw it in action...
Black Syren Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Hmm do they have Pirate Vamps? Wow..Exquisite bed! Hmm mine...I would have a round bed, the headboard would be shaped as an open shell and draped with strands of pearls. The bed would be covered in silk sheets of teals and whites. Some day...lol http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v519/Dara286/trident01-11.png If you got a dream chase it, cause a dream won't chase you back...(Cody Johnson Till you Can't)
Rogue Mermaid Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I rented an apartment at the beach for a week a few years ago that had a ship's wheel for a headboard. I thought it was pretty cool.
Lady Alyx Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 From the Le Target commercials offering the new "for a short time only" imports (did you see the commercial,...the elephant all packed out...the lama all packed out ....the donkey..all packed out...and then the monkey banging the drum?....made me think of the donkey and monkey used in POTC)....to this morning on the east coast news show...they where trying to do Anne Curry up in a L.A. import trendy getup...seems the import look is making a come back....! Hurrah...I hope for more import stores...seems they went away...or have less wonderful stuff to peruse through...like Mediterranean Imports, Cost Plus World Market, Pier One, Oh Calcutta (some are long gone). Great pics...keep em coming Pirate Vamp look..sure why not!!!! ~~~~Sailing Westward Bound~~~~ Lady Alyx
Ransom Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I loved Cost Plus! Years ago I went to the HUGE one in San Francisco, and my brain nearly went flat-line there was so much stuff to see. I'm getting ready to redo the bedroom, as its pretty mundane right now, except for the sleigh bed, which I love. So, I'll be checking in here to get ideas. LOVE Red-Handed Jill's bedroom - Very Ann Rice looking! ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... Lady Alyx Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 Cost Plus has about 1/100000 the stuff they used to have back in the day. When they built the one I grew up next to in the mid 70's they had tons of stuff. Glad I bought the things I did back then when it was plentiful and dirt cheap. I regret I never picked up the belly dance coin belts and bras which they used to have a ton of. Now a nice coin belt will set you back 39.00 to 49.00 bucks. ~~~~Sailing Westward Bound~~~~ Lady Alyx

Red Cat Jenny Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Jill the bed is gorgeous! I live at Pier One Imports and the local AC Moore Craft store and my room reflects that. Tropical I would say. No pics now tho. I'd like to do each room in a style. I love queen anne stuff and Colonial, French Country, nautical anything and Art Deco. I need a home with 10 bedrooms! I think I'd be more comfortable sleeping in a papa san chair once you get in them you dont want to get out! Red-Handed Jill Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Thanks! The design is mostly Jack's - we both like sumptuous things that aren't too girly.
