Check out the great prints of famous pirates and other goodies can be found at the National Maritime Museum website

Look under *Reproductions* then *Pirates*. There is Anne Bonney & Blackbeard. Capt. Morgan and Barbary corairs. There are also maritime books and nautical knickacks.

Baskethilts extend back into the sixteenth century.

It's hard to see the details in the picture, but they were fairly well developed by Morgan's period.

Quite a few baskethilts from the 17th century have been found in American digs, particularly in Virginia.

He does look rather 18th-century-ish, doesn't he?
